- Two quotes from Bill Moyers Mahatma Gandhi was the master of civil resistance and he advised that “the function of civil resistance is to provoke response and we will continue to provoke until they respond or change the law. They are not in control, we are.�

Civil Resistance seems a better term than ‘civil disobedience,’ which suggests misbehavior when, in fact, times of crisis demand that people rise up. Howard Zinn pointed out that civil disobedience isn’t our problem, “our problem is civil obedience! Our problem is that people have obeyed their leaders in the face of poverty and starvation and stupidity, and war, and cruelty. Our problem is that people are obedient while the jails are full of petty thieves, and all the while the grand thieves are running the country. That’s our problem.�

The 99% are addressing the issues of class warfare, grand theft, a very limited government “of the 1%, by the 1%, for the 1%.â€? While we have been distracted by ersatz issues like guns, gays and God, the World Management Team has conducted highly proďŹ table wars and supported a monstrous empire while, back in the ‘homeland,’ police forces got tens of billions in riot gear and military muscle to be able to suppress the impending uprisings. storm troopers shooting projectiles and tear gas at demonstrators in Oakland and Denver and elsewhere.

When people are suppressed for a long time they feel powerless and lose hope. Not any more. The signs of the movement are zen telegrams: “They got bailed out: We got sold out,� “This isn’t a recession, It’s a robbery.� And, my favorite: “Dear 1%, you seem distant lately. Let’s talk. - the 99%�

This isn’t a new issue for this country. Jefferson foresaw that we might lose our young democracy if the banks took over. And back in the 19th century there were social leaders who claimed that “Wall Street owns the country.

Our laws are the output of a system that clothes rascals in robes and honesty in rags.�

Is this the end of government for the few at the expense of the many? Not even close. The 1% started this latest round of class warfare almost 40 years ago and they won’t give up without a ďŹ ght. In fact, all the signiďŹ cant progress in this country, from ending slavery, to all the other rights we have gained, have come from people coming together to ďŹ ght the ruling class. Even now, with the GOP majority and the power of Catholic Bishops, women’s rights, gained from 50 years of struggle, are being worn down. The same is true for voting rights as the right wing passes voting restrictions in key states to suppress minority voting power.

Self proclaimed ‘cool observer’ Mikey Z knows our time will come “when we collectively decide we’re less afraid of the state than of living on a planet without trees, without drinkable water, without arable land, without a hint of justice.�

I believe a greater power exists in being “forâ€? something rather than being “againstâ€? it. I’m not against the 1% or capitalism. Obviously, the 1% gamed the system, and capitalism has worked for them brilliantly. For us, the other 99%, the lights are ďŹ nally coming on about how fractional reserve banking works (and doesn’t work) and how the cards are stacked.

Can’t our collective brilliance be focused on proactive, creative solutions to ďŹ x our ďŹ nancial system and economy to everyone’s beneďŹ t?

There’s nothing written in stone about how our money works. It could be possible, as it was during the Civil War, that the U.S. could operate with two kinds of currency. As of 2011, according to Wikipedia, $230 million in United States Notes are still in circulation, not backed by any debt. Congress and the Treasury could expand this currency to co-exist with Federal Reserve Notes, created apart from borrowing (and selling our collective souls) to be forever in debt to the private Federal Reserve “banksters.�

It’s too bad Steve Jobs was a genius computer guy instead of an economist. Maybe this mess would never have happened, and we’d have an Apple I-Phone $ app instead. American ingenuity is way overdue.

Betray The Age

By Alan Clements Writer-poet Wendell warns, “We have reached a point at which we must either consciously desire and choose and determine the future of the earth or submit to such an involvement in our destructiveness that the earth, and ourselves with it, must certainly be destroyed.�

We are the matter of the universe – a Cosmos that made us and will take us. We are genetically encoded to seek and create life, genetically encoded to disintegrate and die. Although we appear to be different, we’re all kin beneath the skin, sharing the same ancient ancestry.

From a molecule of DNA – origin unknown – life emerged on earth. Over the next four and a half billion years, we crawled out of the oceans, formed hands and lungs, and walked upright for the ďŹ rst time a mere 300,000 years ago. Only 100,000 years ago the planet’s population was 60,000.

Anthropologists tell us that about 10,000 or so people from the original tribe migrated north from central Africa and from there, spread throughout the world. And, not surprisingly, wherever modern Homo sapiens migrated, they drove the indigenous peoples into extinction, either by out-producing them or exterminating them through murderous acts of conquest.

Move forward 2,000 years past countless wars, and the rising and passing of civilizations, into a 20th century fraught with obscene brutality: Stalin, Mao, The Holocaust, Hiroshima, genocide in Armenia, Rwanda, Bosnia, and Sudan; Pinochet’s terror in Chile, Pol Pot’s Cambodia, Apartheid, the crushing of human rights in Syria, Burma, the Congo, and Tibet.

All in the name of what? Freedom? Democracy? Christ? Capitalism? Allah?

The Uprising Of The Divine Feminine

By Liah Howard We live in a world that has become grossly unbalanced. Consider that actors and athletes get paid exorbitantly for work that contributes to the mass consciousness of violence and competition, while school teachers and social workers struggle to make ends meet as they contribute to the betterment of our society.

Politicians who cry for war are re-elected.

The unhealthy aspects of the masculine principles of power and aggression are rewarded while the healthy feminine quality of nurturing is devalued.

This is not something we can afford in a world dying from lack of connection, community, and consciousness.

But wonderfully, an uprising is afoot, heralded by the Divine feminine principle and the healthy aspects of the Divine male coming into harmony with one another. The union of these energies will heal this unbalance and put heart and soul into

our politics, culture, and personal lives.

This revolution calls for cooperation, not competition. The beauty of the Div i n e f e minine principle is that the whole is honored rather than the segments or parts.

When we separate anything from ourselves, we lose an intrinsic sense of oneness and thus disconnect from the pain and suffering of others. This contributes to the unconscious rape of our natural resources and the indifference to the global condition of humanity, particularly to the innocent children of the world and to the women who are oppressed.

The healthy masculine principle is meant to be protective, strong and providing, able to solve problems and get things done. When this aspect is in harmony with the healthy feminine principle of nurturing, feeling and creating, there is a synthesis of balance. This balance allows one to move through life with both their intuition and their intellect intact. The rationality of the left brain works with the intuition of the right brain to create a holistic matrix of decision and action.

We all carry both masculine and feminine principles and it worthwhile that we reflect on how we’re nurturing and expressing each of those sides. Historically the masculine has ruled with

violence, whether on the battle or sporting field.

As we witness and participate in the uprising of the feminine, we will see a new world emerge.

Heart-felt communication will resolve conflict, fierceness and gentleness will both be honored and will both contribute to growth and prosperity, shared by all. Feelings, visions and hunches will be given a place of recognition in all decision making endeavors from personal to political matters.

In a world in balance, non-violence will rule over violence. Rather than football, sports like Aikido - intended by its founder to create peace and “make the world one family” -will dominate.

Music, like John Lennon’s song “Feed the World,” will continue to touch and inspire others, bridging countries and people for a common cause.

Religion, politics, education and employment will shift from a hierarchical structure to one of unity, cooperation and mutual respect. Women and children around the globe will be given their birthrights of freedom, justice, the pursuit of happiness and abundance on all levels.

An uprising is happening and you are a part of it! Inventory your life and see where you can bring more balance of the healthy feminine and masculine principles into it. Now is the time to come back into balance and remember to put your heart and soul and nurturing into all you do in your personal and professional life, politics and culture, and community.

Need An Excuse To Quit Smoking?

By Judy Phillips Most of us know that smoking is bad for your health and can produce heart disease, cancer and a whole host of other maladies. There is something else, however, that you may not know about cigarettes.

Within the smoke of that cigarette you are putting to your lips is a toxin that is so rampant it can affect you even if you are not the one smoking. Many of us in the alternative medicine arena have warned our clients, friends and families about this toxin for years, as it is one of the foremost causes of heart disease and Alzheimer’s.

A recent investigation has ďŹ nally generated more proof of what we have all been saying all along. For many years, it was thought that peripheral arterial disease (PAD) was caused by the smoke or nicotine from cigarettes. It was a big surprise to the scientists who studied a group of smokers that this was not the case. The smokers with the majority of artery damage were those that had high levels of lead and cadmium in their blood. If truth be told, those who possessed the highest blood levels of those metals were approximately three times as likely to acquire PAD! Scientists deduced that the lead and cadmium in cigarette smoke injures the lining of the arteries, generating more prominent disease. Bottom line – it is not the smoke that does the damage, but the chemical and heavy metal content. Sadly, it does not take much of these heavy metals to trigger health problems. Medical researchers discovered that PAD was linked with lead concentrations that were merely 13 percent higher on average in contrast to people without PAD. Similarly, the cadmium levels were roughly 16 percent higher in people with PAD than in those without it.

The bombshell is that the highest levels in this study were well below what the medical establishment considers safe!

You are getting enough of these heavy metals from your environment as it is, so smoking is just making it even worse. For example, the ceramic mug you are drinking your tea out of more than likely has lead in it, and if you are not picky about making sure that the candles you burn are made out of beeswax and have cotton wicks then you are burning wicks that raise the concentrations of lead in the air by 36 times what is considered safe by the EPA. If that is not enough, cadmium can be found in the processed meats you eat, batteries you use, in some instant coffee, galvanized pipes and the list goes on and on.

Traditionally, people who were interested in removing these heavy metals from their bodies were guided to chelation therapy. I must be accountable for my own breaches in integrity as well as demand that other institutions do the same. I am accountable for not always living as the loving and authentic man that I am.

It is I who unconsciously surrenders my own personal sovereignty to other authorities when I submit to a system that is corrupt and abusive of the power I gave them.

I cannot achieve this evolution or revolution alone. I will not use violent means and I will do it with compassion, passion and by living in truth. To those who are head of these institutions and to those who support and enforce these practices that don’t serve all of the people, I ask you to join me, hear the voices of the millions and take responsibility for the hurt you have committed.

Love In Motion

Transforming Core Wounds

By Jacyntha Kamor Taylor The word chakra might be foreign, but the experience of this energy in our torsos is intimately familiar. It is how we know, feel, and respond to life. Chakras are perceived, through our heightened sensitivity, as vortexes of spiralling energy, a colored spectrum of light and movement. There are many chakras, but most healers focus on the seven major chakras along our spine.

I have discovered that each chakra contains a core wound and a divine state. When we understand and heal these core wounds, we can transform the most stubborn and overwhelming issues of low self-esteem, addictions, self-sabotage, poverty, dysfunctional relationship patterns, creative blocks, spiritual crisis, and more.

Our chakra’s core wounds are: rejection (root), abandonment (sacral), humiliation/shame (solar plexus), betrayal (heart), injustice (throat), ignorance/confusion (third eye), and doubt/disconnection (crown).

In childhood, we experience situations that open these core wounds.

We then construct layers of defense to try to avoid the pain. The wounds and defenses form personality patterns in our chakras that create the unique labyrinth of our life’s challenges.

When we heal our core suffering and live in the divine state of each chakra, our true soul identity emerges to glow naturally and confidently in our bodies. We can then use our chakra energy to create our lives in harmony with our deepest desires.

The seven divine states are: trust in abundance (root), sacred pleasure and autonomy (sacral), self-love and peaceful radiance (solar plexus), forgiveness and loving equanimity (heart), truth and dignity (throat), vision and wisdom consciousness (third eye), faith and divine connection (crown).

Accessing The Subtle World For Healing

By Gina, LMT The journey with my spinal column is a journey of rebellion. In January 2009, I was struck by an accelerating car as I crossed an intersection on foot. My medical doctors said my spinal injuries would make it impossible for me to be able to bend or ex my back or stand for long periods as my profession requires.

I was told that my back would continually lock up. Medical experts could offer no procedures that could correct the spine or relieve the pain. My spine had a double scoliosis curve and when the car hit my body, two vertebrae rotated, causing contracted muscles on each side of my spinal column. This resulted in chronic, extraordinary pain.

While most people deal with a ďŹ ve-sensory view of life, I have chosen to work with my mentor, Conrad Satala, exploring the subtle world and the ability to sense and connect on inner levels. With Conrad’s assistance, my spine continues to show results of more uidity and exibility (veriďŹ ed through testing). There is more movement occurring, despite the doctors’ grim prognosis!

Contacting and working with the subtle world forces (and learning how they support and work with my body) allows it to operate more optimally. I am straightening the vertebrae in my spinal column in ways that others believe are impossible.

My inner world focus also includes working

with Francisco, a Tz’utujil Mayan shaman in Guatemala. This work began through a series of rituals and ceremonial burns that deepened my connection to my soul, my guides and inner world forces. As Francisco works with his inner connections and shamanic tools, it physically changes my body through the emergence of my deep body.

The gift of my accident has brought me to a place in my life where I choose a different way to perceive myself. This knowledge is not found in books. I am a facilitator/shaman/healer who has gone through a profound journey that has changed my perception and world view. Medical practitioners and most healers strive to eliminate pain, believing it is bad or negative. They strive to heal our bodies so we have the absence of pain. What I’ve discovered instead, is that pain is really a feedback system that tells us something is changing or transforming.

Our goal should not be the absence of pain – instead it should be to nurture the new identity that emerges in us. Pain helps us ďŹ nd our inner connection. Pain is our way of knowing that in this area (whether physical, emotional, spiritual or psychological) that something is transforming, not necessarily that something is wrong.

An underlying premise of basic physics is that there has to be chaos to have change. So rather than having a limited life, I have chosen to walk through the chaos and engage in the exploration of the subtle world forces to live my soul’s purpose – a rebellious uprising at its ďŹ nest.

The Triad Of Health

By Michael Pascoe, D.C. Our health can be viewed as a triad or triangle. The three aspects of complete health are structure, biochemical, and emotions. Each of these general categories can be broken down into more speciďŹ c factors.

Structure encompasses any traumas or injuries as well as our posture, which can affect the central nervous system. The body is a self-healing mechanism, but when it comes to trauma/injuries, we rarely take enough time to allow for complete healing. In these circumstances, the body has no choice but to adapt to the traumas. Structural symptoms are a sign that your body can no longer adapt.

Biochemical health can be broken down into nutrition, and toxins. One hundred years ago, all we needed was good, whole foods to nourish our bodies. However, as the level of toxins in our soils, air and water keep increasing, just eating organic whole foods isn’t enough. There is no place on earth void of these toxins. So, we must ďŹ nd ways to mitigate the impact they have on our health.

Emotional or psychological stress can also adversely affect our overall health. Under these types of stresses, our bodies react by producing stress hormones like cortisol. Our organs, particularly the adrenals, begin to work overtime and become fatigued. This eventually leads to organ exhaustion, and sometimes failure. As we feel less energy during the day, some of us resort to coffee, tobacco, soft drinks, and sugar to give us that “pick me up.� This further degrades the function of the already overtaxed adrenal glands.

By addressing nutrition, emotions, and structure with techniques that work on a fundamental level (as opposed to simply treating symptoms), we can achieve optimal health, wellness, and happiness in a natural way to truly improve the quality of our lives.

Stop Smoking And See God

By Paul Gangnier This article’s title may sound funny to you, and I admit that it sounds funny to me, too. And no, I’m not smoking anything.

This saying came up the other day because I had someone coming for a “stop-smoking� hypnosis session. I told my friend Nicole about it, and we looked at each other and smiled, knowing that all my clients these days come for spiritual and personal growth, with very few for addictions. I was sitting there, yearning to “show up� totally for my new client. “I really want to do a great job for this client,� I said to Nicole, “and I need to start mentally preparing myself.� “They’re not coming for smoking!� she countered. “They’re coming because they want healing and need your help.� “That’s it!� I exclaimed, “Stop smoking and see God!� We both laughed. When my client showed up, however, it was immediately apparent that it was all about spiritual and personal growth.

Yes, “Stop smoking and see God.�

How wonderful! Now you’re probably saying “I don’t smoke.� And I say, yes, you probably do. It’s not just about smoking cigarettes or pot, it’s about smoking our own excrement, quite frankly. We get stuck in it, we roll in it, and we think with it. When we’re caught up in the crud we’ve attached, like false belief systems, conjured up modalities and concepts, and negative emotions, we cannot connect – plain and simple.

We have to get through the excess debris and see ourselves as God made us before we can grow further. There is an ongoing controversy surrounding the ingredients in hair straighteners and the health issues they can cause. According to a report published in October of 2010 by US Department of Labor Occupational Safety and Health Administration, it was found that some products for this salon service can expose hair stylists and customers to formaldehyde. Marching In Oakland

By Devaka When I found myself driving around the streets of Berkeley the day after Occupy Oakland, I felt lost, like I was homeless. All I had to do was call my friends – you know, the ones with the mansions, and I could check into their plush guest rooms. Naw, I wasn’t homeless like the folks camped out in front of City Hall downtown. I reeled in my Bezerkley contacts for shelter. Jim, my multi-dimensional shaman friend from college days was (darn) leaving the day after tomorrow and his place was already rented out. But if I wanted to go, too, tomorrow he was going to the march.

“What march?” I queried.

“You don’t know?”

“No, I’ve been camped out atop Mt. Shasta all summer. What march?” I asked again.

“Only the biggest city strike in over 65 years since the last one shut down Oakland in the 1940s. We’re closing down the ports.” Jim replied.

So we took the BART downtown.

It was like Burning Man, only with political seasonings. There were theme camps and lots of tents, stages, music and costumes.

“Now this is what I call a R’Evolution. If I can’t dance then I don’t wanna participate,” I say mimicking my GreatBubby’s peer Emma Goldman. We danced through the streets, often accompanied by brass bands or samba troupes. Jim wore a full tux with tails and proudly carried his OUTTA WORK Composer placard: SUPPORT the ARTs Not the Banksters.

He was interviewed and photographed by many.

It was indeed an historic day. Shutting down the ports was a perfect metaphor for the action we collaborated in staging. We estimated close to ten thousand people flooded the streets.

Just to participate with this body as a statistic was a privilege. As teachers took their kids out of schools to demonstrate the right to publicly assemble and protest, as nursing babies were paraded in their snugglies, as various unions and organizations represented, as Iraqi/Afghani war vets were the first line of defense against police aggression, we marched together almost two miles to the docks.

As wave upon wave took to the streets – a unified field of individual parts, we were united with a common purpose: to recalibrate America’s social injustices.

First, let go of any residual blame. Forgive the other person for not having lived up to the projections you shined on him (and vice-versa, to be sure).

We all have a reflected sense of self, and enjoy being other-validated. It feels good to be desired and appreciated; it’s intoxicating. But now is the time to hold onto the part of you that is self-validating.

To this highly conscious part, everything happens for a good reason (i.e. personal growth), and it just doesn’t matter what other people think (they don’t do it that much anyway :-).

Since you will be running into this guy, however, it’s useful to realize that you will have an ongoing ‘relationship’ with him, whether you like it or not. What you are dealing with here is changing the form of this relationship, as opposed to the notion that a “relationship” has to be all or nothing.

You had hopes for intimacy, and discovered that (for mutual reasons) it’s not going to work. So, what form do you want now? If you are reacting emotionally and are still shouting “nada,” you are blinded to what may be in your best interests. If you are not ready to get beyond reaction, then perhaps you really should totally avoid him for a month or two.

Time heals all wounds and you’ll come around to being able to treat him as an acquaintance you can’t rely on, and whom you cannot take too seriously.

Most intimate relationships begin by meeting someone at work or in our social groups. Nothing against online or blind dates, but this local, organic approach often feels more natural and can work out (for a while). But even though your wider group of friends may have observed and been privy to the

details of your relationship, you never agreed to bet your entire social life on a single relationship, did you? Don’t politicize what happened. Be cool about the fact that “you win some, you lose some.”

If you find yourself feeling out of sorts in public when he’s around, just try to act naturally.

Avoid conversations with him; ignore him as best you can without being pointed or obvious about it.

Carry on doing what you like to do, including going out with someone else from a common group.

Don’t even consider what others might think or feel - you’re self-validating now, baby. Do your own harmless thing without regard for whatever you think others might think. We never know what people are thinking (hint: it’s generally about them, not us)!

As they remind us in 12-step meetings, “What you think of me is none of my business!” Instead of worrying about what others might think, focus on learning as much as you can about how to hold onto yourself (and pick better partners as a result). And don’t forget to enjoy this learning process. After all, that’s one big thing relationships are for!

Decipher Your Human Design With Beverly Bright

By Rev. Jill Carl Transformational therapist Beverly Marie Bright has as varied a background as she has gifts, talents and abilities.

Her painful early life has been the catalyst for her current deep practice of work. Experiencing abuse and abandonment at an early age led Beverly to make some profound life choices. At age 13 she experienced her ďŹ rst direct connection with Jesus Christ which started her on a path of spiritual studies.

Setting out on her own at the tender age of 16, she put herself through college, culminating in a masters degree in psychology from the University of California. Her education is formal, experiential and extensive. She has studied with many teachers and masters from East to West, gaining knowledge, wisdom, compassion, and the ability to adapt the teachings to a usable, understandable, practical tool for transformational healing.

Beverly came to Maui in 1980 and worked a traditional job with the Maui County Department of Parks and Recreation where she remained for 12 years. In the early 1990s, she began to have transformational experiences which led to her various places and expanded her studies. Sometime in the mid 1990s, she saw a Human Design Chart on someone’s wall and the resonance was unmistakable.

She left Maui to study Human Design with Ra Uru Hu, the founder of the system. He told

her it was revealed to him directly by Source: “The Human Design System is a revealed science which integrates DNA Genetics, with the Hindu Chakra System, the Kabala, Astrology, and the I Ching. “It is the mechanics of the Maya. It is not a belief system. It is logical and empirical, here to take us through, in a simple way, the mystical nature of our being, to something very basic, the energetic fundamentals of our true nature.�

The Human Design chart is the “blueprint� of your body, soul, and life. It can be intimating to view by the untrained eye but, once explained

by Beverly with her skilled and expert interpretation, it can become the path to freedom.

As with all of her other studies, Beverly has developed and adapted this modality to most beneďŹ t those who come to her for readings, clarity, and help. Advanced Human Design is the foundation of her work, combined with all of the knowledge and wisdom she has garnered along the way.

Change Is Possible!

By Eliza Bassett As with any rebellion or social change coming forth from within society, the status quo is the point of resistance. Whatever the point of push-away is, that is where the rebellion is ‘against,’ thus always anchoring the rebellion to the status quo.

The current upwelling of change has presented and nurtured the idea that change, once again, is possible.

The presence of Uranus in Aries during the years of 2011-2018 can bring about an uprising of volatile conservative sentiments.

Western astrology notes that Aries is a trailblazer. Uranus loves radical changes. And conservative ideas becoming radicalized is the last thing you would consider being generated during their blending time. But that is exactly what happened 84 years ago, the last time Uranus made a transit through Aries.

All the extremes in the European governments arose – Hitler, Mussolini and Stalin – because the people felt that these leaders offered a path that ďŹ t what they thought was right. Fortunately, that is not so long ago that the lessons of that time can be forgotten. Yet, the present conservative party in the USA has become entrapped with severe religious teachings.

A positive factor to help us at this time is the non-violent teachings that have become part of some cultures. With the militarization of community police, we are realizing that the mindset of terrorism defense can be used against the constitutional rights of the peacefully protesting people.

The many paths to creating new conditions, relationships and patterns of organization can come from a personal place of being centered and allowing a vision to come forth to better ďŹ t the community’s needs.

Shamanic journey work can assist in this creative process, as spirit helpers have a greater vision of the dance of life and can offer a different view of being.

Tapping The Power

By Carolyn Cobelo I recently spent time in the beautiful valley of Wahala on Molokai with its many ancient sacred heiau. As we were driving there, I felt beings in other dimensions who were excited that we were coming to inaugurate positive energy and assist the Earth with our upcoming events on Maui.

In preparation, here is a special message that I channeled from the Light beings who reside there: “We welcome you here with great anticipation. There is taking place now a rapid rebalancing of the Earth in order to take us into a new way of being. Deep within the core of the Earth the rumblings are beginning to intensify. The islands of Hawaii will be a director of actions on Earth in response to catastrophes, for she has resilience and understanding that is stronger than other places on Earth. “All of Hawaii is a beam of light and a magnetic anchor point for the Sun. Quan Yin Shares Message

Exploring Vital Energy Points

By Jackie and Dave Reed The word marma means secret, hidden, vital energy. Marmas are special points of energy located throughout the entire body and are much like the acupuncture points of traditional Chinese medicine. A marma point is deďŹ ned as an anatomical site where esh, veins, arteries, bones, tendons and joints conjoin.

Each marma is a receptor point on the skin that directly relates to different bodily tissues and organs.

They are the points through which prana, our life force or master energy, travels. These points are used to activate and heal organs, tissues, bones, skin and muscles.

Marma points are classiďŹ ed in different ways and each classiďŹ cation has ďŹ ve components. The ďŹ rst classiďŹ cation is according to the region of the body in which they occur, such as upper and lower limbs, abdomen and thorax, back and trunk, and head and neck. The second way marma points are classiďŹ ed is by the tissues they are composed of: muscular, blood vessels, ligaments and tendons, joints and bones.

Marmas are most easily stimulated by pressure applied with the ďŹ ngers, particularly with the thumbs. To stimulate a marma point, a deep but not painful pressure should be applied for one to three minutes and followed with a gentle massage of the region. Marma therapy can be done in conjunction with other types of massage. Another way to stimulate marma is to apply an invigorating oil like eucalyptus or camphor.

By Diane Larson Reiki has a way of finding you at just the perfect time. For me, it was spring of 2006. I was glancing through a VITEC catalog when I noticed a Reiki natural healing class. Something in me lit up and before I knew it, I had registered for training. From that point on, my life changed direction. Things that I thought were important, I realized, were not. Integrating Your Low Vibes

By Julie Migneault So often I encounter those on a spiritual journey who seek spiritual bliss, divine love and to be in a state of non-judgment, open-heartedness and joy as much as possible. Does that sound good to you? Totally! Yet do you ever feel irritable? Frustrated? Anxious? Me, too!

Part of the transformational journey requires us to become fully embodied. We accomplish this by being fully cognizant and open to all levels of our being – spiritual, emotional and physical. That’s right, it means embracing our humanness and the challenges that present themselves along our paths.

We can begin to do this through a process of recognizing and integrating the lower vibrational energies that exist within all of us. They may show up as feelings of fear, sadness, grief, anger or resentment.

What if we opened ourselves up to feeling these emotions instead of doing the same habitual thing – pushing them down, ignoring them, or judging ourselves for feeling them?

There is true opportunity for release from old patterns and from repeating old reactions when we begin to see these energies and emotions in a new way.

We can start by acknowledging their presence and allowing them to be consciously felt. In this way we move away from unconsciously projecting them onto those around us and create space to see new choices for our lives. As we do so, we release more of our life force and move into an integrated experience of our human vulnerability and spiritual power.

What Is Satsang?

By Eli Jaxon-Bear Satsang is a Sanskrit word with two parts: sat is immortal being, sang is association. Derived from the same root, a Sangha is a community of truth seekers. Associating with your true immortal being is what Satsang is about and to do so, you have to see deeper than identifying yourself as a human being.

As long as the veil of identifying yourself as a human being is what you believe to be real, then you miss the shining of your immortal being. We are here to be willing to pierce the veils and see through the false identities so we can ďŹ nd what is real.

What is real doesn’t appear as long as we identify with what we believe is real. If we focus our attention on what we believe is real, then that’s what we see. We all are born into identities as human beings and we all start our lives believing that what we see is real. As long as we believe that humanness is what is real, we miss the reality of ourselves as immortal beings. That’s what Satsang is for – to bring us back to our true selves.

I’ve been very lucky in my life; I’ve had some wonderful teachers. One was my Taoist teacher, Shirfu Chiang, with whom I spent three years. I learned so much from him.

Among other things, he taught me Chinese

calligraphy. To do Chinese calligraphy you have to hold the brush a certain way, you have to make the strokes a certain way. You have to copy the teacher’s form. If you copy the teacher’s form perfectly, you will be able to do Chinese calligraphy or Tai Chi or whatever the teacher is teaching.

With my Tibetan Buddhist teacher, there was a certain form you had to do. I did prostrations and learned different prayers, different visualizations and mantras and other useful practices.

is to learn the teacher’s form. If you can do the form as well as the teacher does, then you have become a master of that form.

Satsang is not like that. There is no form.

There is nothing to practice, there is nothing to copy. You can’t do it the way the teacher did it. There is no way of being you. There is no form you can follow. It is a mistake if you try and copy the teacher’s form as far as immortal being goes, because it doesn’t work. You can’t copy spontaneity. You can’t copy your own true inner wisdom. There is no pattern that you can follow.

Satsang is not about practicing something.

It’s not about learning something. It’s not about something that you can lose. It is realizing what is already always here. That can’t be lost.

It is a category mistake if you try and take the role of the teacher who is teaching you something and put it into the realm of Satsang.

Because here there is nothing to learn. You can’t learn to be yourself. And there is no form. You can’t lose it. You can’t forget it. You can’t in some way make it happen. You already are what you are searching for.

Changing The Patterns

By Heather Ardoin, MPT, CPI, RYT Too often we ignore the subtle whispers of our bodies, and small pains can lead to injuries over time. How we address these injuries is a chance for growth – we can treat the symptoms, or we can inquire into the underlying causes.

When we take the time to slow down and reflect, our bodies can reveal important information about movement patterns, or holding patterns that may not be serving us.

So often we want to fix the problem - get rid of the pain. Sometimes letting go is what we need. The body’s wisdom is innate. It wants to bring us back into balance.

When we learn to let go and feel, we can change the patterns that are holding us back from healing. Here’s a simple exercise to ease your back, neck, and shoulder stress: While lying down, comfortably, gently rest one hand on your lower belly, fingers wide, palms soft. Rest the other hand over your heart, shoulder soft, and elbow on the floor. Passively allow breath to fill your lower abdomen first, then breathe into the space between your hands, finally filling both front and back of your heart space. Exhale completely, passively. Repeat for 5- 10 minutes. Become aware of any tension you are holding in your body, and let it go with each exhale. When you are finished, slowly come back to sitting and feel the changes in your body.

When we allow ourselves to support our bodies, we are free to let go, feel, and inquire. Take the time to listen to your body. You may be surprised at what it is telling you.

Rebel Without A Pause?

By Michael Krugman Are you one of the millions who rebels against sleep? “I’m too busy to sleep.” “I have better things to do with my time.” “I’m on a really tight schedule.” “I’ll sleep when I’m dead.” It’s amazing how often we hear business leaders, politicians, lawyers, students and teachers, athletes – even yogis – brag about how little sleep they allow themselves. For too many of us, sleep is out, self-denial is in.

By contrast, one of my favorite sleepaffirming stories is about William McCool, the much-admired astronaut who lost his life while piloting the space shuttle Challenger in 1993. In college, McCool was an honors student who always made himself available to schoolmates who needed help with math or science problems. But he had strict a policy that no one could disturb him after 10 p.m. He was in bed by 10, asleep by 11, every night of his college career. McCool understood that adequate sleep is a pre-requirement for academic excellence as well as for top-notch physical and mental performance.

Later, as a young jet pilot, McCool’s EA-6B “Prowler” lost power and went into a flat spin, a so-called “death spiral,” virtually ensuring a crash. His instantaneous corrective action made him the first Prowler pilot ever to recover from such a spin. He saved the plane and his crew.

Breathe Through The Uprising

By Sa’arah We are currently experiencing an uprising of everything that is not love - inside of us as well as in our environment. At this pivotal time in history, we are going deeper and deeper into our core issues as all old energy is rising up for release. This can be uncomfortable, painful, or result in feelings of upheaval.

I recently had the privilege of re-experiencing how much my thought and emotions affect my body – how physical pain is so intrinsically interwoven with my emotions. I experienced how slight changes in my thinking and emotional state had an immediate effect on my physical pain level.

Often we forget this connectedness, and by ignoring, rationalizing, or pushing away our emotions we become more and more insensitive. We all have a tendency to tighten up when we encounter unpleasant situations and emotions, which can result in our locking those fearful emotions in our physical bodies.

An amazing, yet simple, tool for being aware of and releasing negative energy in our minds and bodies is the conscious breath. Whenever you feel uneasiness within, focus on your breath and start consciously breathing through the emotions until you feel a shift. You could also choose to take slower, deeper and more rhythmic breaths. The breathing takes you out of your mind and its perpetuating story, into the present moment, and connects you with your feelings. With this simple tool you are able to start making different choices about what “comes up� for you.
