







Fall is a wonderul time of year in Matthews. While we welcome the cooler temperatures, this season also means a fair amount of yard work for many homes. Since the leaves will soon begin falling, now is a good time to review the yard waste guidelines. Read more about this on page 5.
We are hosting our second annual Música Matthews event celebrating Hispanic Heritage month on Saturday, October 15. The event will focus on music and dance, with some great performances planned. We’ll also have delicious food offerings and lots of family fun activities. See page 3 for more details.
If you're interested in learning more about the upcoming bond referendum, please consider attending an upcoming information session we are hosting at Town Hall. Residents are invited to learn more and have their questions answered before Election Day on November 8. If you aren't able to attend in person, we've posted a recording of the meeting held on October 8. See page 4 for details.

Celebrate Hispanic Heritage month this weekend at “Música Matthews,” in Stumptown Park on Friday, October 15, from 5pm – 9pm.
The event will focus on music and dance, with performances by:
Flute Praise Band 6pm-7pm
Rumbao Dance Company 7pm-7:30pm
West End Mambo 7:30pm-9pm
There will be Latin food vendors, a Seaboard Brewing beer tent, inflatable games for children, and visual arts and craft vendors.
Presenting Sponsor Truliant Federal Credit Union, other area businesses, and the Matthews Police Department will host interactive exhibits and greet attendees. Members of the Stumptown AC soccer team will also greet fans and sign autographs.
Admission to the concerts is free and open to the public, but food, beer, and some art will require purchase. For more information, check out matthewsfun.com.

As Election Day gets closer, the Town of Matthews continues to inform the community about the upcoming bond referendum. Two questions will be on the ballot for Matthews voters on November 8 - a Transportation Bond for up to $21 million and a Parks and Recreation Bond for up to $14 million.

Fall is here! A reminder that yard waste pickup continues with your weekly trash pickup from Republic Services. The Town of Matthews defines yard waste as brush, tree and shrub trimmings, leaves and grass trimmings, and other materials accumulated as the result of the care of lawns, shrubbery, vines and trees. Please review the key guidelines for yard waste pickup below.
Schedule - Yard waste is picked up once a week on your scheduled trash pickup day. Yard waste must be placed at the curb.
Limitations - Leaves and grass clippings must be bagged in clear bags, or other bags left open so the driver can see the contents. Each residence is limited to a maximum of 20 bags per week,and each bag must weigh less than 50 pounds. Paper yard waste bags are preferred.
Branches - All branches and limbs must be cut and stacked in small piles. Branches must be cut in lengths of four feet or less and can be no larger than five inches in diameter.
