Cabochon - for briefcase by Matthew McCormick, designed in collaboration with Burdi Filek. Engineered to suspend 30 feet from the ceiling without visible fasteners, the Cabochon column was created from 750 hand-poured, artisanal glass pieces after months of design and experimentation. Crafted as a site-specific, bespoke installation, Cabochon casts an ethereal reflection against a three-story, curved limestone staircase offering an evolving mosaic of reflection with every passing hour of natural daylight.
