From comedy to music, from contemporary and classical.

Highlights of our season include the Off-Broadway Spectacular ‘Lennon – Through a Glass Onion’ a real coupe for the theatre, also the moving and mercurial ‘New Dawn Fades’ a musical play about Joy Division and the city that spawned them, to Paul Carroll’s brilliantly camp ‘Music Hall Tavern’ and even ‘The Dreamboys’, we really do have something for everybody in the coming months.

All of this and more leading up to one of our favourite times of the year, our Easter Pantomime. This year prepare to experience the timeless tale “Snow White” brought to you by LHK Productions and starring the Apprentice star, James Hill.

Tread (Theatre, Representation, Entertainment, Acting School, DramaWorks) is run by Graham Tudor (West End: Mamma Mia, Grease, Joseph..) and Helen Noble (Hollyoaks) and offers unparalleled training in the performing arts, with many students working in professional TV ( Silent Witness, Harriet’s Army) and Theatre (Priscilla, Fiddler on the Roof, Wizard of Oz).

The Question is..... Will ‘Beauty’ conquer evil? or will the wicked enchantress ‘Malevolent’ steal the power, the kingdom and the glory all for herself.

From the renowned Tread Studios, this production promises a spectacular show that will be a high octane explosion of colour and verve, bound together by hit songs such as: Uptown Funk, Shut Up & Dance and the gothic centrepiece, Close Every Door from ‘Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat’.

The NOW Festival, which is being held in National Children and Young Peoples Mental Health Week, will give local children and young people, aged 9-18, the opportunity to showcase their original creative performances devised around the theme of mental health.

Working with guest artists; Darren Suarez; Maurice Bessman; and Carl Cockram along with a number of organisations; Ariel Trust; CAMHS Wellbeing Partnership; Brighton University; young people from fourteen Liverpool schools and youth organisations will showcase a mixture of original live performances and films around the subject of ‘Mental Health & Technology – Friends or Enemies?’.

An Audience with Paul Gascoigne promises to be a fantastic night of entertainment, including comedy, music, football, tears and so much more.

Gascoigne’s football career is particularly remembered for his England caps. He earned 57 appearances for his country and is described by the National Football Museum as “the most naturally gifted English midfielder of his generation”.

After retiring from professional football, Gascoigne’s life became dominated by emotional problems, including alcoholism. His personal struggles have received regular coverage in the British press.

Coming off the back of Paul’s recent hit documentary film Gascoigne, fans will be able to hear the full life story of Gazza in the unique show in his own words, at The Epstein Theatre.

It is a classic tale of four ordinary lads from Manchester, Salford and Macclesfield who, inspired by the punk revolution of the 1970s, came together to form one of the most influential bands of all time, Joy Division.

This unique production places the band within the context of Manchester’s history as a city, setting the scene for a completely new and fascinating look at the Joy Division story.

The legendary Anthony H Wilson guides audiences through the heart and soul of both the band, and of Manchester, interviewing an array of historical figures along the way from Karl Marx to the Buzzcocks. The result is a spellbinding tale of love, passion, progress, grief, and of course music.

The play draws inspiration from the enigmatic lyrics of Ian Curtis, with a soundtrack featuring live performances of his most beloved tracks.

For many years Ruby Turner has been regarded as having one of the greatest voices the UK has ever produced. Ruby can breathe life and meaning into a song whether it is a passionate soaring ballad or a soulful up-tempo groove. Her career to date has been sensational with major tours, film, TV and theatre appearances.

Born in Jamaica, Ruby moved to England when she was nine and her major break came when she was taken under the wings of British blues legend, the late Alexis Korner.

A very prolific songwriter, many of Ruby’s songs have been covered by artists such as Lulu, Yazz and Maxi Priest, while her vocal prowess has been employed to good effect by Brian Ferry, Mick Jagger, Steve Winwood, and Jools Holland.

Described as truly the genuine article and blessed with a voice that has been likened to Aretha Franklin and Janis Joplin, Ruby continues to win the hearts and minds of an ever growing and diverse fan base.

RESTORATION LEVY As the Epstein Theatre we pride ourselves on our prestigious venue and constantly aim to enhance audience experience. We aim to deliver a high level of service and want to restore and improve Liverpool’s hidden gem of a theatre.

As a non-funded organisation a restoration levy is now in place to enable us to carry out the continuous work needed on our 102 year old space. The charge of 50p per ticket, has been implemented to protect the theatre’s future.

Orginally opened as Cranes Music Hall in 1913, later renamed Cranes Theatre before becoming the popular Neptune Theatre in 1967, open until 2005. After undergoing a £1million refurbishment in 2011 The Epstein Theatre, in honour of former Beatles Manager Brian Epstein, the theatre is now one of Liverpool’s favourite venue, right in the heart of the City Centre.

2013 saw the theatre celebrate its centenary birthday, as we look forward to the next 100 years we want to maintain the exceptional features you have come to love from the theatre in the sky!

THEATRE INFORMATION ACCESSIBILITY For wheelchair access, customers have access to Hanover House lift situated on School Lane which will give access to the theatre, Bar & Foyer. Ramps are also in place for access to theatre seats. Guide Dogs for the visually impaired are permitted and the theatre also has an infer-red T loop system for hearing impaired.
