Junior Associate Lighting Designer

Location Salary Range

: Novato, CA (Marin County)

: $71,000 - $95,000 per year

The Junior Associate Lighting Designer supports the design and execution of lighting projects from concept through construction.

Working closely with Principals and Associate Lighting Designers, this individual will contribute to lighting layouts, fixture specifications, product research, project coordination, and site implementation activities. This role is ideal for an early-career professional seeking mentorship and hands-on experience in luxury design projects

Key Responsibilities

Design & Documentation

Develop and revise lighting layouts using AutoCAD

Produce fixture schedules, specifications, and cut sheets

Assist with preliminary lighting control system layouts

Maintain technical accuracy and design intent throughout project documentation

Project Coordination

Collaborate with architects, interior designers, consultants, and contractors

Participate in project meetings and design reviews

Support project delivery across multiple simultaneous assignments

Research

&

Product Knowledge

Research lighting fixtures, controls, and emerging technologies

Build relationships with manufacturers and vendors

Stay current on industry trends and innovations

Ideal Candidate Profile

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Lighting Design, Architecture, Interior Design, Engineering, or related field

Proficiency with:

AutoCAD

Bluebeam

Microsoft Office Suite

Strong organizational and time-management skills

Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a team environment

Comfortable working on ladders and scaffolding when required

Preferred Qualifications

Knowledge of residential and/or commercial lighting products and control systems

Experience with:

Revit

AGi32

Portfolio demonstrating design work, lighting projects, or related creative/technical experience
