Sam Thuman’s CLF Work experience 2018-2021
During my time at DAAP, I ended up going back to the same firm for each of my co-op semesters. It is very rare for a student in this program to do this, and for many reasons. Fortunately, on my very first co-op, I earned myself a spot in a place that was a kin to an architectural gym. Each day I had a different task. Each day I was developing newer and better skills. Each day was a story. This is all because of my boss and mentor, Ralph Choeff, and the rest of the team at CLF. Ralph would sit at my desk, right next to me for 10 hours a week directing his next design while I scrambled on my computer to manifest his thoughts. At first, it wasn’t easy. I was a 19 year old, not even halfway through college, and I had the pressure of progressing the work and designs of Ralph Choeff’s firm as he sat right next to me. It was my first day on the job when he told me “If you do good work, you’re going to have a good time here. If you don’t do good work....” It was right there when I put it on myself to get as good as I could at what I needed to do, and the rest is history. I was the do-it-all intern at a 15 person firm, developing some of the most high scale residential buildings in America. From doing their renders, to making almost all of their models. From CAD to cafecitos, I wouldn’t be here without them, so here’s to my second family at CLF. I love you all, and wish you the best success.
Note: This is my professional (not academic) portfolio. Unlike the academic portfolio, I have left the layout here blank as to emphasize the work. After you are done, please scan the other QR code to see the films I produced for CLF, and then continue on to my academic work. All this work belongs to CLF.
