Every five years in the UK, as in many other nations, the adult population vote to decide who will be in government for the next five year term. Many different reasons will be given us why we should vote for one party candidate or another, and whatever decision we make will no doubt have far reaching consequences for years to come. Having made a decision of our own free will, we can never blame anyone else if at a future date we find that we made the wrong choice. There is another decision that each of us is required to make during our lifetime - whether or not to accept God’s offer of salvation. The choice we make will determine whether our eternal destiny is in heaven or hell. There can be no doubt about the benefits of giving the right answer, nor can there be any doubt about which answer is right. Although there is no particular time or place where we are required to record our decision, a decision must be made. Do not put it off till tomorrow, for no one is promised tomorrow. Our every breath is in the hands of God. 2 Corinthians 6:2 says: “Behold NOW is the accepted time; behold NOW is the day of salvation”

We need our sinful natures changed if we want to spend eternity in heaven, otherwise we will go to hell. Romans 6.23 says: “The wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord” Two thieves were crucified for their crimes on either side of Jesus. The one man said “Yes” to Jesus as Saviour and Lord and so received eternal life. The other said “No” and went to hell. (See Luke 23:39-42). Both had the same chance, both had free will. Since then many have accepted salvation whilst others have rejected it. The benefits we receive by giving the right answer are clear: sins forgiven, peace with God, a new purpose in life. Also, our names are written in the Lamb’s Book of Life in Heaven. ”Whoever was not found written in the Lamb’s Book of Life was cast into the Lake of Fire.” Revelation 20:15 Accept now God’s offer of mercy, To Jesus O hasten today For he will receive him that cometh, And never will turn him away. Will you accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Saviour?
