In the spirit of reconciliation, Mater acknowledges the Traditional Custodians of Country throughout Australia and their connection to land, sea and community. We pay our respects to their Elders— past, present and emerging.
The Heart to Heal, the Strength to Grow
Our spirit is strong, it thrives as we embrace those who we must always care for.
Our journey has been long and we will continue to flourish as we open our hearts to those who walk with us. Always.

Welcome!
On behalf of Mater Foundation, I am thrilled to welcome you to the 2025 International Women’s Day Fun Run presented by Queensland X-Ray.
You have now joined an amazing community of over 20,000 Fun Run participants who are all united by one important cause—to help women with breast cancer by raising valuable funds for breast cancer research and support. We are honoured to have you as part of this remarkable community that we call the Mater Chicks in Pink.
Whether you plan to run, jog, or walk, or are supporting those that do—thank you for your valued contribution. By fundraising you are helping women with breast cancer in many ways, including:
• Providing support services that offer practical assistance, making life a little easier following their diagnosis
• Funding specialised equipment to better diagnose and treat patients
• Supporting ground-breaking research focused on increasing the survival rates of women with aggressive breast cancer.
I would also like to thank our presenting partner Queensland X-Ray who has returned again this year. We are grateful to share in a common goal of advancing care for people with breast cancer, and we are excited to see what we can achieve together.
As you navigate through this event guide, filled with valuable information, remember that you are part of something extraordinary. Together, as a Sea of Pink, we can create lasting change and improve the lives of countless women and their families.
Thank you for joining us in this incredible journey. Let’s make the 2025 International Women’s Day Fun Run the most impactful and unforgettable event yet!

Your impact
Mater Chicks in Pink was created so no woman would have to go through breast cancer alone.
By fundraising for Mater Chicks in Pink, you’re helping make a direct impact for the brave women battling breast cancer, by:
Funding state-of-the-art equipment to improve treatment options for patients across Queensland.
Helping women feel more like themselves by offering practical items like mastectomy bras and wigs.
Supporting valuable programs like Mum, Memories and Me and Return to Wellness.
While your registration fee helps us put on an event of this size, it’s your fundraising that really makes a difference.

Thank you for being part of the wave of change
Thank you for taking part in the International Women’s Day Fun Run presented by Queensland X-Ray.
Hi, my name is Lou. I am a mother, partner, daughter, friend and breast cancer survivor. My journey has not been easy, but I am filled with strength and pride knowing that I’ll be amongst the Sea of Pink, walking besides others who have been touched by breast cancer in some way. I will be committing a significant part of my life to honouring and supporting women through their breast cancer journey. It’s a calling too loud to ignore.
Together, we can empower women through all stages of their breast cancer journey.

Supporting women with breast cancer
Last year, over 300 Queensland X-Ray team members joined the 26,000 'Sea of Pink' Fun Run participants to raise awareness and fundraising dollars for the Mater Chicks in Pink. In 2025, we aim to surpass this number and join thousands of participants uniting in one common cause to raise awareness and funds for women's cancers.
The Mater Chicks in Pink commitment to supporting and empowering women living with cancer aligns closely with Queensland X-Ray's vision to provide the highest quality women's imaging services and exceptional care for the community.
The International Women's Day Fun Run has long symbolised unity, strength, and compassion. Queensland X-Ray feels privileged to continue in our role as presenting partner of an inspiring event.
"The Fun Run is tremendously important for raising funds for research and awareness. Just as important is the practical support the Mater Foundation gives to women receiving treatment for breast cancer, including helping cover the cost of post-operative garments."

"Participating in the 2024 event was a goal that I set when I was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2022. It was a time to honour that promise, raise funds and awareness for the Mater Chicks in Pink and to celebrate one year clear of breast cancer. In 2025, I am honoured to represent Queensland X-Ray as an ambassador."
