On Wednesday, March 13th, the Spanish Club's third annual field trip commenced! During their trip, the Spanish Club had the incredible opportunity of visiting the Culinary Center in Asbury Park, New Jersey. Students were able to observe a cooking and cultural demonstration held by the outstanding staff at the Culinary Center, followed by a delicious luncheon, also provided by the Culinary center staff. On Sunday, March 10th, MAST cadets marched in the 10th annual Asbury Park St. Patrick's Day parade . The parade route began at the intersection of Ocean Ave and 4th Ave, and then travelled southwest towards downtown ending at the corner of Cookman Ave and Main St. Despite the wet and windy conditions, MAST cadets marched this lengthy one-mile route with pride. The MAST community thanks and admires all of the cadets who participated in this event, and we can't wait for next year's parade!
On March 28th, the Battalion Change of Command occurred in 77. This ceremony introduced a new top three in the chain of command. This included the Battalion Commander, the Deputy Battalion Commander, and the Battalion Command Senior Chief, who was first up. c/MCPO Noah Cuttrell was replaced by c/SCPO Charlotte McKeon, our new Battalion Command Senior Chief. The former Deputy Battalion Commander, c/LCDR Mae Woolley, was relieved by c/LT Carter Braun. Finally, the former Battalion Commander, c/CDR Sam Puleio, delegated command of the unit to c/LCDR Thomas Clark.
Congratulations to our new top three, and the entire unit is looking forward to what the 2024-2025 school year will bring!
On March 21st and March 22nd, tryouts occurred for Varsity Color Guard for the 2024-2025 school year. The entire team is split into two teams, Blue and Gold. Each team will consist of 3 bearers (flags) and 3 rifles. All together, 12 are selected. As a whole, tryouts took two days. The first day was basic movements, and the second day was an inspection. All cadets trying out were squared away in uniform while being asked the required knowledge needed for a proper inspection. Good luck to everyone who tried out!
On March 16th,The MASTDrill team competed in the Rancocas Drill Meet. It was the last drill meet of the season, and they had a well deserved first place overall.
On March 9th,The MAST Drill team competed in the Passaic Drill Meet.They placed first overall and had a great meet.
On March 1st, the battalion participated in the Freshmen Under Promotion ceremony. This ceremony honored Cadets of the Quarter, awarded aiguillettes, and promoted select freshmen to seaman apprentice.
