Construction plumbing is all plumbing carried out on medium sized to larger sized commercial buildings and infrastructure. This includes:
Groundworks
Fire services
First fix plumbing (water, gas, and underfloor plumbing)
Second fix plumbing (installing appliances such as toilets, sinks and tapware)
Storm Water
Equipment installation
You seek stable work (the Women’s and Children’s Hospital is expected to take up to 7 years to build)
You get along with a wide range of people
You like working in large teams
You don’t mind repetitive tasks
Some plumbers chose to specialise in bathroom renovations and kitchen renovations.
This includes:
Demolition of existing areas
Replacing old settings with new services, drainage and fixtures
Installing underfloor heating (specialisation with some companies)
You watch The Block, House Rules or other renovation shows
You like replacing old with new
You like working in smaller teams
You enjoy demolishing, digging and hands-on work
You like working on shorter-term projects
Maintenance plumbers are responsible for the upkeep of current plumbing services and fixtures.
This includes:
Blocked Drains
Hot water system installations and repairs
Faulty tapware
Cistern repairs
Leaks and burst pipes
You enjoy problem solving
You learn best in 1-1 environments with teachers or tutors
You work best on your own or in a smaller group
You enjoy the satisfaction of applying your skills and doing the job well
New homes plumbers main work is the construction of new homes and apartments.
This includes:
Under floors
First fix (water, gas, and underfloor plumbing)
Gas services
Second fix (installing appliances such as toilets, sinks and tapware)
Suspended drainage and stackwork (multi-storey)
You enjoy hard work, and like getting things done fast
You like seeing results straight away You enjoy working in smaller teams
Plumbers can choose to specialise in a certain area of plumbing.
This can include:
Water treatment
Gas works
Mechanical
Warranty work
Pipe relining
Hydro-jetting
You like repetitive work
You enjoy learning everything you can on one topic or product
You like standing out from the crowd
You like to be seen as a leader in your community
