Master Paints & Chemical's journey began in 1999, when it acquired the painting operations of the former Vasallo Companies in southern Puerto Rico and began manufacturing paints and roof sealers under the brands Master, Masterflex®, and Armstrong. Currently, the plant, located in Guayanilla, produces a wide range of architectural and industrial paints, restoration products, chemicals, high-performance sealers, cleaning and hand sanitizing products under the brand Forto®
Master Paints products stand out for their innovation and locally-made quality, earning recognition from prestigious local and international institutions.
Beyond its products, Master Paints invests in initiatives and projects that have a positive impact on our communities and the environment. In fact, since 2013, it has been the only paint manufacturer in Puerto Rico whose operations run entirely on 100% solar energy.
This is thanks to an installation of over 768 solar panels providing 285,000 kWh annually, reducing their carbon footprint by 260 tons.

RESCUING OUR HISTORICAL HERITAGE
Restoration of San José Church
At Master Paints, we are particularly committed to rescuing historical heritage and preserving cultural spaces. A clear example is the development of the only line of paints formulated specifically for application on historic buildings and masonry, approved by the Puerto Rican Institute of Culture Restaura® has been used in monuments such as San Felipe del Morro, La Fortaleza, the Fajardo Lighthouse, and the Fort Conde de Mirasol in Vieques, among others.
One of our most important and culturally significant projects is the restoration of the San José Church in San Juan. The project has spanned more than a decade and has been supervised by entities such as the Puerto Rican Institute of Culture, the San Juan Monuments Trust, and Master Paints. We’ve provided detailed care to the diverse architectural styles of the structure and to the discovery of frescoes and carved stones hidden beneath layers of cement.
Since the beginning, a key element in achieving our goals has been training our employees, clients, and consumers. That’s why in 2005 we created Master University, a training division with a comprehensive curriculum of courses and workshops focused on professional development.
The goal of this curriculum is to prepare our sales team not only with vast knowledge of our products, their uses and applications, but also by providing them with tools to achieve greater balance in their personal and professional growth.
