»About 10 years ago, we started using heterozygous and homozygous hornless bulls. I personally took up the subject, as I sensed the increasing insecurity of farmers regarding de-horning. Not only that, the question of how long dehorning calves would be permitted at all. For that reason, I started to look for an alternative. As a result, almost 90% of the bulls on our insemination list are heterozygous or homozygous polled bulls Furthermore, I see de-horning as stressful for the animals, so if I can spare the pain, it is a better solution from an animal welfare point of view «
