This project’s complexity included a tight job site next to an operating hospital, shared loading docks, and heavy traffic causing congestion. The team overcame unforeseen conditions like asbestos and differing floor elevations between new and existing buildings. Extensive MEP/ BIM coordination was needed to manage ceiling heights and match existing building elevations. The challenges also included complex enabling projects, vibration and noise restrictions, and challenges posed by Covid and supply chain issues.

This project involved constructing a 53,000 square foot LEED Silver Certified facility to replace an outdated 26,000 square foot building. Challenges limited size, high traffic, and restricted laydown space. The team worked closely with the university to overcome significant challenges including schedule impacts due to the pandemic affecting material delivery and labor availability. The building emphasized a high-quality, water- and air-tight building, and an OSHA Partnership fostered a safe work environment.

This project showcases outstanding features in a township facility, including a state-of-the-art police station, administrative staff offices, and public meeting spaces. Construction began with a complex layout of the building. Attention to detail and quality craftsmanship are evident throughout the facility, creating a functional and aesthetically pleasing environment for the community. Meticulous planning and coordination to integrate these elements seamlessly ensured the result met the high standards set by the township.

This industrial construction project showcased teamwork and lean construction. The project was a unique and unconventional industrial construction endeavor, spanning 575,000 square feet. Remarkably, it was completed in less than a year using a design-as-you-build delivery method, and will ultimately employ 750 people. This approach allowed for real-time changes while maintaining cost and schedule control. The results highlighted the diversity, skill and innovation that MBA contractors bring to the construction industry.

This project, located in Ross Park Mall, is filled with unique design elements. The clerestory floods the space with natural light. A freestanding glass elevator at the center adds a touch of modern elegance. In addition to a tight timeline and stringent safety protocols, the team had to ensure construction activities did not disrupt mall operations. The attention to detail and quality craftsmanship exceeded expectations to result in a stunning retail space.

This project involved the comprehensive restoration and modernization of the historic hall, including replacing seats, plaster repair, rerouting wiring, routing ductwork, major HVAC upgrades, and ADA updates throughout. A 60ton scaffold was erected to provide access to the upper reaches of the hall for various trades. The team met additional challenges, such adjusting the pitch of the orchestra floor. Work was completed on schedule, while maintaining the hall's historic integrity.

This project involved a complete renovation of one of the three original buildings of the historic WVU Woodburn Circle, built in 1893. The team solved challenges, expected and unforeseen, with innovative solutions. Craftsmanship was evident in every aspect of the project, from assembling and installing custom-made windows to ensuring the safety and security of students and faculty. The result was a beautifully restored building that could be mistaken for new construction.

This project involved replacing sections and building new concrete piers under an active railroad bridge. Careful coordination was required for the demolition and replacement of the 1,300-foot bridge. Work could only be completed within a short and fixed window of time when the track was closed to rail traffic, making the construction schedule especially challenging due to the need to stop and start work adjacent to the track while trains were passing.

This project required installation of temporary ductwork to ensure the fourth floor of the hospital remained fully operational while installing the new unit. Instead of breaking the unit into smaller pieces, a large crane was used to place the unit on the roof, and then it was rolled into the building through an opening created in the structure. Extensive coordination with hospital staff played a critical part to ensure a smooth transition.

This project involved significant renovations and upgrades to the historic venue in Homestead, Pa., including the installation of LED lights, advanced dimming controls, and rewiring, while preserving the historic surfaces. The team faced challenges such as tracing 130-year-old circuitry and working with 65-foot ceilings over the music hall floor. Recognized for excellence in design, the result was improved quality lighting and energy efficiency without disturbing the historic finishes.
