It’s hard to believe we’re approaching the half way mark for 2021. We were thankful to see so many of you this past winter season, especially out on those glistening slopes!

It’s always a welcome change as we move into spring, and we certainly hope we will continue to see more of you as we head into warmer weather and lots of sunshine.

TRADING BOOST We are happy to announce that we will be offering the Trading Power Boost program this year!

We want to make sure that you’re not only informed of the program but that you know how to quickly and easily sign up for it. This includes a payment of your 2022 maintenance fee and a note to request the boost before the 1st of November, 2021. This request can be sent as an email, but fax and snail mail requests are also acceptable for your convenience. This year we will only be offering one boost per Owner ID, not per account.

In the request, it is important to include your association ID number as well as your name and your RCI weeks member number. This is so we can keep track of each individual‘s needs. If you send us an email, then your request will be replied to within two business days; however, the transfer may take up to 10 business days due to the volume of requests.

Like most email accounts, ours too experiences the unfortunate case of spam.

In these types of instances, if you do not receive a reply from us within two business days, please feel free to check up on your request.

We operate on a first come, first served basis, so boosts will decrease in their value as they are being distributed to those who sign up early.

The highest boost that we currently have is 19 points.

Since we want to cater to all of you, we want to make sure that you send in your request as soon as possible.

Boosts generally last between 30 and 60 days from the date that they are transferred; however, you have no obligation to travel directly on the boost unless you have an interest in traveling in the next 30 days. We do expect you combine it with other deposits in your RCI account.

If you plan to combine it,

you will automatically extend its expiration date for your convenience. There is a combination fee (or extension fee), but you can choose the option that is the most fitting for you. The best way to make the most informed decision is to contact RCI @ 844.874.5792 and find out the exact cost.

Although there are many dynamics to attaining a boost, there are many benefits and it will allow you to strengthen and improve your trading power by combining this old deposit with your already existing deposit in RCI. Keep in mind that this offer is for 2021 and may not be available in 2022 if there are no leftovers. If you own multiple accounts, only one must be prepaid for 2022. No boosts will be given if any of your accounts are past due.

PARTIAL PAYMENTS At the end of each year, the Board of Directors sets your Association’s budget for the coming year. Even though your account is billed once a year, you are welcome to make partial payments leading up to your due date. This can ease the burden of a one-time payment.

We are in the process of upgrading our property management software, which will have electronic billing and automatic payment features. You are welcome to take advantage of e-billing by opting-in on your next invoice or by emailing us at

ownersassoc@massresort. com with your request, name, and Association ID (account number). Until we have this feature available, please feel free to make partial payments online at the owner’s website.

INDUSTRY NEWS Please be aware that Massanutten is consistently made aware of companies that defraud owners like you out of thousands of dollars with the promise of selling or renting their timeshare.

These companies typically promise they can sell/rent your timeshare, allege they have a ready buyer/renter and usually charge large upfront fees. There are also relief companies which typically claim that you can be released from your contract and/ or relieved of your annual maintenance/assessment fees.

Some of these companies even allege they have a relationship with Massanutten.

OF SCAMS

Don’t be tricked by professional-looking ads, documents, websites, or certain business ratings. These resale and relief companies usually shut down after a few years when they start to feel the pressure of government agencies or mounting lawsuits and simply start a new company. Be suspicious of companies that claim to be consumer advocates. Contact the State Attorney General and local consumer protection agencies in the state where the reseller is located to determine if there are any existing complaints. You can also check the company’s rating with the Better Business Bureau (BBB).

Their aim is to set up a meeting with you at a location not on resort property to discuss your ownership, usually under the premise of you not being

able to use your timeshare due to COVID-19 with an offer to waive your maintenance fees or getting rid of your timeshare. Please be aware of any meeting that does not take place at the resort.

The resort does not schedule meetings anywhere other than on resort property.

ARCTIC PLUNGE &

4K O N TH E FAI RWAY

We were so thankful to host the Arctic Plunge and 4K on the Fairway, despite other cancellations. It was a bit chilly that weekend, with temperatures in the mid-40s, but there were 79 participants between the two events! On Saturday, March 5, brave participants took the plunge in the Woodstone Rec outdoor pool. The following day, the participants met us on Massanutten’s Mountain Greens Golf Course for a walk/run through the front nine of this scenic course.

Over $2500 was raised for Therapeutic Adventures, a non-profit that provides opportunities for those with disabilities, illnesses, and other health needs to experience the outdoors through camps, adaptive sports clinics,

HEADLINES! Massanutten Duo Leading Charge to Get More Women & Girls on the Slopes S K I SO UTH E A ST

It is International Women’s Day on Monday, March 8, and Massanutten Resort has a pair of exceptional women leading the charge to get more females on the slopes.

Lauren Johnson and Whitney LeMay are helping grow the ski and snowboard disciplines with their roles in the Massanutten Ski School. Johnson – a skiing instructor – has been hitting the slopes since she was in kindergarten, while LeMay – a snowboarding instructor – has been playing on the snow since she was seven.

Both have a love of their respective discipline to motivate them to hit the slopes. “I of course love the sport and I want other people to at least experience it even if they come for one lesson and they’re like “Yeah, maybe not…” but just getting them to experience it and feel confident trying new outdoors during winter,” Johnson said.

“The love for the sport and my own enjoyment, I love passing on to other people and seeing their love and enjoyment for the sport, and even getting into coaching, and being able to coach freestyle, too,” LeMay said.

“Just getting them started with the basics, getting them comfortable, and being able to have fun too.”

When asked what the biggest piece of advice the duo would tell younger girls when it comes to hitting the slopes, LeMay said it is to just go outside and do it.

“A – Just get outside. B – Try it. ,” LeMay said. “Do not let yourself or what you think is expected of you stop you from trying it. Go with a friend because then you can encourage each other and you can push yourselves and just have fun – not be perfect, but just have fun, try something new, and surpass what you thought you could even try.”
