Shaping the Future Since 1873

Join a community where creativity is everywhere — inside our studios, in late-night conversations, across disciplines, and throughout the city itself. At Massachusetts College of Art and Design (MassArt), artists, designers, educators, and creative thinkers come together to learn from one another, challenge assumptions, and create work that matters. For more than 150 years, MassArt has helped students develop their talents, find their voice, and discover new ways of seeing the world. Located in the heart of Boston, the college combines a rich artistic legacy with the energy of a city known for innovation, culture, and opportunity. Here, you'll be part of a creative community that supports your growth, encourages exploration,

and inspires you to imagine what's possible.

Welcome from the President Creativity begins with curiosity. The desire to explore an idea, challenge assumptions, and imagine something new or improved. At MassArt, you’ll join a community of artists, designers, educators, and creative thinkers who believe that art and design has the power to shape culture, strengthen communities, and expand what’s possible. For more than 150 years, MassArt has prepared students not only to create exceptional work, but to use their talent and skills to make a meaningful impact. As the nation’s only independent public college of art and design, we are committed to excellence, access, and opportunity. Here, you’ll learn from accomplished faculty, collaborate with talented peers, and take advantage of the creative energy of Boston. You’ll be encouraged to experiment, take risks, and develop an artistic and creative practice that reflects your unique perspective. I’m inspired by MassArt students every day. I see them turning ideas into action, solving challenges with creative solutions, and producing work that helps us see the world in new ways. Their curiosity and ambition remind us that an art and design education is a powerful force for innovation, leadership, and change. If you’re ready to explore your potential and join a vibrant community, imagine what you can create at MassArt — and the impact you’ll have beyond. Come join us!
