“ Exploration - Landscape as an Image”
PROJECT

AREA
Golf Course City
Masterplan totalling a site area of 5.6km2.
SUMMARY
Qiddiya Golf Resort: An exclusive, nature-surrounded community with interconnected open spaces and green trails. The Resort and Golf Clubhouse feature stunning cliff and sunset views, emphasizing sustainability and integration with the natural surroundings.
OBJECTIVES
Landscape Place Pillars and Value Proposition:
• Sense of Place and Luxury: Design open spaces that residents will remember and want to revisit.
• Cultural and Recreational Integration: Seamlessly bridge cultural landscapes and recreation zones to create a cohesive environment.
• Unique Golf Community: Plan an accessible, environmentally comfortable, and purposeful open space network.
• Holistic Vision: Integrate the golf community, golf course, Wadi, and D9C to align with Qiddiya’s purpose and value proposition.
• Increase Real Estate Yield
Parks for High End Villas

KEY CHALLENGE
• Topography Analysis: Identifying main watershed zones.
• Climate Considerations: Planning for future climate change impacts.
• Green Links: Determining and integrating green links across the site.
• Zoning Assistance: Supporting MP with zoning efforts.
• Recreational Zones: Locating optimal areas for recreational activities

OVERARCHING STRATEGIES
• Create forested areas higher in the watersheds flood areas.
• Reroute flood water to riparian or constructed wetlands/ carve the land and use swales and berms.
• Vegetate eroded gully beds to reduce fine sediment from running into the lake or built up areas.
• Vegetate basin slopes to reduce and slow overland waterflow.

• Dissipate waterflow energy with riprap, mass plantings, geotextiles etc.

ECOLOGICAL CORRIDOR
• Corridor Shift: Turning ecological links into a connected recreational spine
• Climate Response: Positioning activities to suit future environmental conditions
• Terrain Reading: Using landform cues to anchor key program nodes
• Activity Placement: Locating wellness and adventure zones along the corridor
• Access Planning: Aligning trail entries with natural flows and visitor movement

SPINE DEVELOPMENT
• Zoning Structure: Defining program clusters along the commercial spine
• Circulation Mapping: Organizing main and secondary pedestrian movement flows
• Plaza Coordination: Arranging flexible gathering zones along key access points
• Edge Alignment: Positioning F&B and retail edges to activate the corridor
• Spatial Hierarchy: Establishing clear axes that guide movement through the spine
