Friends of the Aspen Animal Shelter (FAAS) has dedicated our efforts to combating pet overpopulation and the consequences thereof. In the United States, pet overpopulation results in the unnecessary killing of millions of loving, adoptable dogs and cats every year.

The Aspen Animal Shelter, which serves The City of Aspen and Pitkin County, Colorado, is fortunate to have a nearly zero-percent euthanasia rate and has not killed an adoptable dog or cat in more than twenty five years. In addition to supporting our city and county shelter, FAAS also targets surrounding areas with our rescue and spay/neuter programs.

Our efforts reduce the number of animals euthanized in shelters that have no alternative but to kill due to overcrowding.
