On behalf of the Board of Directors and the staff of the Masonic Home of Missouri, we wish to extend our gratitude to you for sharing your time, talents and treasure with us. Your continued support on behalf of the Masonic Home within your lodge and community is instrumental in helping those in need of our assistance.

We need your help to continue to educate those around you about the Masonic Home of Missouri. Review the packet that you received at the Masonic Home Representative luncheon in September and make presentations at your lodge meetings using the Program Video. The 2013 Annual Report can be used to show your lodge members the number of people assisted and the amount of money expended throughout the state, including those assisted in your region.

Remind them of the importance of helping our brothers in need through the eight Outreach Programs available to help them. Encourage them and your Lodge to support the MHM and make a donation. They might not need assistance today, but who knows what the future holds.

This year represents the 125th Anniversary of the Masonic Home of Missouri providing service to our membership. When the Home was dedicated in 1889, Masonic lodges were asked to sell 1,000 tickets to attend the dedication as well as sell refreshments to provide funds to benefit the Home. Although you are not being asked to sell tickets or refreshments, I do place the same call for support.

We will be hosting a Charity Golf Tournament and Patron Dinner on June 13th and an Open House on June 14th at the Masonic Complex in Columbia, MO. I ask that you make these events a success by participating yourself and bringing your lodge Brethren with you.

I look forward to seeing you and your Brethren at one or more of these events and would appreciate your donation to support these events and this charity, just like our Brethren did before us at the original dedication.

Traveling Timelines Did you know that in 1896 the Masonic Home of Missouri received substantial damage from a tornado? How about the diphtheria epidemic that quarantined the Home for 10 weeks in 1914? That the last child left the Home in 1981?

The Masonic Home of Missouri has developed a historical timeline that features some of the milestones over the past 125 years.

These boards can be displayed at Lodges or other community venues to demonstrate the charity’s heritage.

We are looking for ‘host’ Lodges to help us display these around the State of Missouri. Host Lodges will receive a box with the displays in them, instructions on how to easily assemble them, and a prepaid mailing label for returning them.

The timeframe for hosting a timeline can be determined at the time of reserving one of the displays. If a host Lodge does not have an area for displaying the timelines but knows of a venue in their community, such as a library, bank, community center, etc., that can be used, we would love to invite the community to know more about our Masonic charity.

Displays are made of two 1’x 3’ (approx.) frames that have small frames attached to it that contain photographs and details showcasing the Home’s history. Displays are plexiglas in nature to avoid glass breakage and will have easels included for display assistance.

Volunteers Needed The weekend of June 13 & 14, 2014 is going to be a busy time for the Home.

With a charity golf tournament and patron dinner on Friday, June 13th, and an Open House on Saturday, June 14, 2014, we are in need of volunteers to help us.

Volunteers are needed to assist with set-up, parking, tours, serving food, making runs

for items left behind, manning game holes on the course, assisting with cleanup and so much more.

If you or your Lodge can help us with this important event, please let us know.

We Need You!

The Missouri Outreach Magazine The Masonic Home of Missouri has its own magazine, the Missouri Outreach that is published four times a year, with the fall edition being an Annual Report. This magazine focuses on helpful tips, resources and interest stories that assist Missouri Master Masons, honored widows and Order of the Eastern Star Chapters. It is mailed three times a year to approximately 46,000 people. The Annual Report is available at Annual Communication, Ladies Luncheons & Teas, our website or can be mailed upon request.

Some of our recent articles have been designed to help Lodge members showcase their Creating-A-Partnership (CAP) Program efforts, get ideas for raising funds for the CAP program, or identifying ways that our Outreach Programs help in your communities. If you have an idea for an article or would like to showcase your Lodges participation in our Outreach programs, please contact Rhonda Stone Lightfoot at (800) 434-9804 or email the article and any photos to rlightfoot@mohome.org.

We do reserve the right to edit or obtain photo permission to ensure that it will typeset into the magazine correctly. We do not print any articles that do not pertain to our services or that cannot be used as a resource guide for our members.

Ways to Support the Home Celebrating 125 years of helping Masons, their wives, widows, female members of the Order of the Eastern Star and children throughout Missouri is a special event. We are excited to offer a commemorative coin for this special event.

This 1.5� antique silver finish coin is available through our website, from our Board of Directors or at all Ladies Luncheons and Teas. Lodges and Chapters are welcome to purchase the coins in bulk to sell or give to new members or to commemorate a special occasion such as a 50-year member.

We have the original coin that was presented at the dedication of the first home in 1889 and this coin closely depicts it. The design on the front of the coin is taken from the original coin and shows the first Home. The back of the coin shows our 125th logo.

Volunteer Hours If your Lodge delivers flowers to your Widows or participates in the Masonic Family Cares Outreach Program, are you reporting your volunteer hours?

As a 501 (c) (3) organization, the Masonic Home of Missouri tracks our volunteers and their hours for the IRS as part of our in-kind donations process.

An in-kind donation is the value of a service or goods rendered to an organization by volunteers. Not-forprofit organizations rely heavily on volunteers. For example, imagine that your Lodge members helped with the

Open House event in June: Four members assisted with parking of cars and trash removal for 4 hours each. The Home, in return, does not have to hire people to do these important functions and can show that 16 hours of assistance was given in volunteer hours towards the project’s budget, thus reducing our expenses. Some other items that can be reported: Visiting Lodge widows, assisting an elderly member with removal of window a/c units, updating your widows lists, organizing a Ladies Luncheon &

Tea, speaking to your Lodge about our Outreach Programs, etc.

You can report your hours by filling out a Volunteer Hour Timecard online at the website or by emailing them to rlightfoot@mohome.org.

Please be as specific as possible to ensure that correct credit is given. List how many members assisted with the project and how many hours it took.

Square & Compass Courtyard Re-Design MASONIC HOME OF MISSOURI

In 2014, the Square & Compass Courtyard at the Masonic Complex will undergo a facelift and all stones will be replaced with granite pavers for a brighter, longer lasting impression.

A commemorative 125th Anniversary stone will be placed in a special section of the Courtyard dedicated to this momentous occasion. Donors who wish to ‘engrave’ themselves in the historical celebration have an opportunity to purchase a special 12 x 12 paver with their name and a short message for the Home for a special price of $250, orders must be placed no later than February 28, 2014.
