NoHo Mixed Use Housing is a mixed use apartment building located in the NoHo area of New York City. The primary concept of this project is to utilize pivoting wings of the building to create views and maximize sunlight on the southern wing while also creating a dynamVic interior space to be enjoyed by the northern wing. The ground floor has a small restaurant and lobby space with amenities for residents of the building; while the next 6 floors are for residents exclusively. Pivot Housing also Provides something rare in New York City, a shared lawn space on the 5th floor for residents to use how they please. With 47 apartments in total from 315 - 670 sq ft, Pivot Housing is the perfect place for young professionals and small families in the NoHo area to live.

STUDIO DESIGN THESIS - COMPOSITE HOUSING IS A COMMUNITY; EXTERIOR AND AMENITY SPACES PROVIDE OPPORTUNITIES FOR NEIGHBORS TO FORM SOCIAL CIRCLES AND ESTABLISH INTERPERSONAL CONNECTIONS. MULTIPURPOSE EXTERIOR SPACES ARE AN OPPORTUNITY FOR CHILDREN TO BOND AND RELATE WITH OTHER CHILDREN WHILE ENJOYING FRESH AIR.
COMPOSITE HOUSING PROVIDES 12 UNITS; 4 ONE BEDROOM UNITS, 4 TWO BEDROOM UNITS, AND 4 THREE BEDROOM UNITS. EACH UNIT HAS ACCESS TO ITS OWN EXTERIOR SPACE. THERE ARE 14 COVERED PARKING SPACES BENEATH THE BUILDING ON THE WEST AND EAST SIDES. WITH THE CIRCULATION ON THE EXTERIOR OF THE BUILDING, THE INTERIOR CORE IS MADE UP OF INTEGRAL AMENITY SPACES: , A MAIL ROOM, LAUNDRY ROOM, AND A WORKOUT FACILITY. GREEN INFRASTRUCTURE IS A SIGNIFICANT DESIGN DRIVER IN COMPOSITE HOUSING, WITH PHOTO VOLTAIC PANELS ON THE ROOF PROVIDING POWER TO THE BUILDING AND CROSS VENTILATION REDUCING ENERGY REQUIREMENTS. COMPOSITE HOUSING CAN BE A POSITIVE EFFECT BOTH THE ENVIRONMENT AND THE COMMUNITY IT IS IN.

CONNECTING

ALONG THE TWO MILE PARK MODULAR CANOPIES ARE SET UP AND COMBINED TOGETHER EVERY 300 FEET FOR A SPACING OF AROUND A 3-5 MINUTE WALK TO PROVIDE RESTING AREAS AND SHADE. CANOPIES HAVE A PHOTOVOLTAIC GLASS ROOF PROVIDING POWER TO THE STREETCAR ALONG THE VIADUCT.

ENVISIONS AN AMBITIOUS NEW FUTURE FOR THE COMMUNITY OF KANSAS CITY, KANSAS. CURRENTLY BETHANY PARK IS UNDERUTILIZED AND HAS BEEN LEFT EMPTY FOR THE LAST 20 YEARS. WORKING IN CONJUNCTION WITH THE UNIFIED GOVERNMENT OF KCK, OUR CLASS IDENTIFIED THAT THIS AREA IS IN DESPERATE NEED OF HIGHER DENSITY HOUSING TO GENERATE ENOUGH IN TAXES TO UPKEEP THE CITIES INFRASTRUCTURE. THIS PROJECT HAS TWO GOALS OF ACHIEVING A HOUSING DENSITY OF 20 DWELLING UNITS PER ACRE OR HIGHER AND KEEPING A PARK ELEMENT ALONG CENTRAL AVE. TO KEEP UP WITH THE POPULATION GROWTH WAMEGO IS THINKING ABOUT BUILDING A NEW FIREHOUSE FOR THE CITY. THIS PROJECT IS A VISION FOR WHAT THIS FIREHOUSE COULD BE.
