A Word from the Founder Mr. Taysier Zamel “Education is not the preparation for life; education is life itself.” — John Dewey.

This year marks a significant milestone as we celebrate 40 years of inspiring learners, nurturing character, and building a legacy of excellence. Throughout these four decades, the Modern American School has remained dedicated to empowering students with the knowledge, skills, and values to succeed in a rapidly changing world. Our mission extends beyond academic achievement. We strive to cultivate confident, compassionate, and responsible individuals who possess the knowledge, skills, and character to contribute meaningfully to their communities and the world. Through innovative teaching practices, engaging learning experiences, and a supportive environment, we encourage every student to discover their strengths, pursue their passions, and reach their full potential. As we begin another year of learning, growth, and achievement, I encourage every member of our school community to embrace new challenges, celebrate accomplishments, and continue striving for excellence across all endeavors.

A Word from the Co-Founder/General Director Mrs. Omaya Zamel Dear MAS Family, As we have consistently embraced the waves of educational development, ensuring that our curriculum, facilities, and pedagogical approaches remain aligned with global standards and emerging trends, we find ourselves at a remarkable intersection of our rich educational heritage and an expansive horizon of technological possibility. Following our celebration of key milestones and our proactive integration of cuttingedge artificial intelligence, our focus now deepens. We are called not only to navigate a technological future but to shape it with a profound sense of humanity, purpose, and compassion. At the Modern American School, we understand that true educational leadership means balancing innovation with our timeless values. As we continue to deploy state-of-the-art resources and adaptive digital technologies, we are equally committed to cultivating the spaces of reflection, critical thinking, and empathy. Our role is to ensure that while our learners master the powerful instruments of tomorrow, they remain anchored in the values of responsibility, digital etiquette, and community stewardship that have defined MAS since 1986. Our dedicated educators continue to inspire this delicate harmony, modeling a curiosity that is both brave and ethical. By fostering an inclusive, supportive environment that preserves the well-being of our learners and staff, we empower our students to be more than just active participants in change— we prepare them to be compassionate, ethical architects of a better society. Thank you for your enduring partnership and trust in the Modern American School. Together, let us embark on this new chapter with courage, curiosity, and an unwavering commitment to excellence. Wishing you a deeply rewarding and inspired year ahead. 3

There is a quite strength in a school that knows who it is—and this year at the Modern American School, that strength shone through. Our students thrived across both the American and International Baccalaureate programs, growing not only as learners but as thoughtful, principled young people. A defining moment was our IBDP evaluation, which we came through with flying colors—a testament to the dedication of our teachers and the trust of MAS families, and proof that our work meets the highest international standards.

Suha Abdel-Baqi

Deputy General Director

Artificial Intelligence (AI) AI + Education =Limitless Possibilities

Why AI ?!

At the Modern American School (MAS), Artificial Intelligence (AI) is transforming learning by empowering students to think critically, solve problems, and develop essential digital literacy skills. As a powerful self-learning tool, AI supports personalized learning, creativity, and responsible technology use. Through ethical AI practices and effective prompting skills, students learn to use technology independently and responsibly. This approach aligns with the MAS Beyond Classroom learning platform, extending learning beyond traditional boundaries and preparing students for success in an AI-driven world. 13

Kindergarten Dear KG Students, Families and Staff, As we come to the close of another wonderful school year, we celebrate the growth, achievements, and special memories our young learners have created together. It has been a pleasure to watch our students grow with confidence, curiosity, and excitement each day. Through meaningful experiences, they have developed into enthusiastic inquirers who love to explore, discover, and ask thoughtful questions.

Sawsan Ishaqat KG Principal

This year, our classrooms were filled with laughter, imagination, creativity, and learning through play. Through play-based learning, our students strengthened their problem-solving skills, communication, and collaboration while making sense of the world around them. Whether building, creating, acting, or investigating, they learned that play is one of the most powerful ways to grow and learn. To our wonderful students, we are so proud of the kindness, resilience, and joy you have shown throughout the year. You have embraced challenges with courage, built friendships with care, and celebrated each achievement with bright smiles. Continue to dream big, stay curious, and believe in yourselves as you move forward on your learning journey. Congratulations to our KG graduates! Keep shining, learning, and growing—the best is yet to come.

The IB Middle Years Programme (MYP) ‫برنامج السنوات المتوسطة‬

The IB Middle Years Programme (MYP) is an inquiry-based, student-centered educational program designed to encourage in-depth exploration of concepts through investigations, project-based experiences, and research. It utilizes Global Contexts through which learners inquire into or explore authentic world settings within their different subjects. This approach ensures that learning experiences are relevant and connected to students’ lives and their understanding of the world.

The Programme also integrates Approaches to Learning (ATL), which promote independent learning by encouraging learners to apply their skills and knowledge in unfamiliar situations. These include social, thinking, research, communication, and self-management skills. Furthermore. The MYP emphasizes service as action, promoting community service and positively impacting the lives of others and the environment, reflecting the IB community’s values. Ultimately, the MYP seeks to cultivate active and globally conscious learners capable of empathy and leading purposeful lives.

Elementary School To Our Esteemed MAS Students, Parents, and Staff,

Raida Daoud ES Principal

As we conclude this vibrant academic year, we celebrate a journey of profound growth, inquiry, and inspiration that defines our MAS community. Amidst spring adventures and immersive learning, our Grade 5 learners shine brightest, commemorating their first PYP X with their exhibition transforming from curious explorers into confident researchers. They`ve honed SMART goals, deepened reflections on their learning journeys, and watched their skills progress and flourish from foundational concepts to sophisticated application, analysis, and synthesis. This evolution embodies our PYP ethos: fostering compassionate, self-directed global citizens. In a world of change, MAS pioneers student-centered innovation, living values of respect, excellence, resilience, and responsibility. Education`s goal is not mere knowledge accumulation, but igniting invention, discovery, and collaborative creation; the true legacy our MAS learners carry forward.

Dear High School Family, As we conclude another successful academic year, we celebrate not only the accomplishments of our students but also the enduring legacy of a school that has spent 40 years educating, inspiring, and empowering young people to become responsible global citizens. To our graduating seniors, Congratulations on reaching this important milestone. You leave MAS equipped with the knowledge, skills, and character needed to pursue your aspirations and make meaningful contributions to the world. This year marked significant progress in the integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) into teaching and learning. AI is transforming education by providing students with limitless opportunities to explore, innovate, personalize their learning experiences, and develop futureready skills. To our dedicated teachers, staff, and parents, Thank you for your partnership, encouragement, and unwavering commitment to our students’ success. We also extend our deepest gratitude to our esteemed founders, Mr. Zamel and Mrs. Zamel for four decades of excellence.

One memory I’ll always cherish is the small everyday moments—laughing with friends between classes and getting through stressful days together—because those are the things that made it special. I learned that it’s okay to take time to adjust and that pushing yourself a little can lead to some of your best experiences.

Yamen Hassan

My experience at MAS was a wonderful closing chapter to my high school journey. After switching schools every year in high school, I finally found at MAS a clear and logical system that matched the way I operate, along with a student-driven environment that made me feel comfortable and motivated, where I found growth after instability.

Celia Bader

After 8 years as a student at MAS, this experience has truly shaped who I am today. MAS has taught me not just academics, but also important life skills, such as responsibility, independence, time management, and resilence. One memory I’ll never forget is meeting my current friends, people who became like a second family, and all the amazing trips we shared as a school, filled with laughter and unforgettable moments.

Looking back at every stage:elementary, middle, and high school, I feel that these stages helped me become the person I am today. I carry many wonderful memories, especially the Ramadan Iftar for orphans, where I saw true happiness in simple moments. Another unforgettable memory is receiving our senior jackets, a symbol of how far we’ve come and the journey we shared.

MAS has been more than just a school to me; it has been a place where I grew, made memories, and learned important lessons. One memory I’ll never forget is all the moments I shared with my friends, whether we were laughing in class or stressing before exams. I learned that every challenge teaches you something, even when it feels hard at the time.

As I close this chapter at MAS, it honestly feels surreal how fast it all went by. I’m so grateful that, in such a short time, I was able to build lifelong friendships and relationships that will stay with me far beyond MAS. One moment I’ll never forget is the senior jacket gathering; that night made me realize how much I truly love the people I surrounded myself with, and for the first time, I felt completely comfortable just being myself.

Senior year wasn’t just the year

I got to soak it all in and have a blast; it was the year of finding my true self and path. I learned to accept, think deeply, and listen to what my conscience tells me. I’m so grateful for my friends, family, and teachers who have been so supportive.

Yara Shobaki

My time at MAS ta ught me a lot abou t growth and matur ity. It helped me re al ize the kind of enviro nment I want to be in, and the kind of pe ople I want to surr ound myself with as I gr ow. I realized that , in the end, many of the things we stre ss about in high scho ol don’t matter as much as we think. What matters most is fo cusing on yourself, your grades, your future , and the kind of person you are becoming.

Closing this chapter at MAS feels strange since I’ve been here since Pre-K, and it’s been a big part of who I am. I’ll never forget being Head of Conference for MASMUN’26 and seeing everything come together— it made me really proud. I learned that leadership takes patience and teamwork, so take every opportunity seriously because even small ones can mean a lot.
