Individualized Education
Maryvale believes in educating young women for life through an individualized approach. We developed a unique model that offers a customized learning experience so each student can reach her full potential.
With our personalized classroom experience, innovative teaching methods, and flexible curriculum, each girl can excel in all aspects of her academic, spiritual, and social life at Maryvale.
This model allows each student to become a confident, independent learner and leader. Our accomplished alumnae guarantee this approach lays the foundation for future success.
We develop holistic learning communities that educate for life.
Academics
From college preparatory classes to AP courses, we offer the right amount of rigor for the region’s brightest students.
Whether it is a Middle School roller coaster construction project or Upper School Engineering through Robotics, Maryvale emphasizes Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math (STEAM) at all levels.
Using the latest technological resources, every girl is challenged and given the opportunity to reach a potential never thought possible. Just ask the Maryvale graduates who earned perfect 800 scores on portions of the SAT!
We educate for and act on behalf of justice, peace, and care for all creation.
Leadership & Service
Leadership and service go hand in hand at Maryvale. Servant leadership is fostered in an accepting environment where the possibility of reward outweighs the fear of failure.
From social justice and Student Council to theater and athletics, opportunities to lead and serve exist at every corner of the campus.
As part of the Patricia J. Mitchell ’65 Leadership Institute, Middle and Upper School students have the chance to participate in formal leadership training and companion community service outreach.
We commit ourselves to community service.

Arts
Middle and Upper School students have numerous opportunities to share their unique creativity through performing and visual arts.
Whether onstage or behind the scenes, drama, theater technology, digital arts, music, and dance have become an important part of the Maryvale curriculum and after-school activities. Throughout the arts, technology is infused to create modern works and prepare girls for the next generation of jobs.
We embrace the gift of diversity.
Athletics
Whether you are a newcomer to a sport or an accomplished athlete, Maryvale believes that all girls should have the opportunity to participate in athletics to round out their educational experience. Lessons learned on our field, track, and court can be applied to life beyond campus.
The Maryvale Lions have proudly won numerous Interscholastic Athletic Association of Maryland (IAAM) championships, with a record-setting five titles in one school year. Our girls have been named AllAmericans, IAAM All-Stars, and “Athlete of the Week” by the Baltimore Sun, among other honors. Many continue to earn accolades and shatter records as they move on and become collegiate student-athletes.
We honor the dignity and sacredness of each person.
Living Classroom
Located on 100-plus acres in the gorgeous Green Spring Valley, Maryvale’s collegelike campus provides the perfect setting for a living classroom. Featuring an outdoor amphitheater, sprawling woods, nature trails, and a waterfall, the grounds offer the ideal opportunity for collaborative learning, self-reflection, and quiet study.
Whether students are studying the plants near the Maryvale waterfall or filming on the Castle Terrace, outdoor learning is strongly encouraged and regularly incorporated within the curriculum.
We proclaim by our lives, even more than by our words, that God is good.
