As an independent, Catholic school, Marymount is reliant upon gifts from parents, friends, alumnae and foundations to make up the difference between tuition and the actual cost to educate each student. Marymount does not receive funding from the Catholic Archdiocese or our founding order, the RSHM.

Fulfilling the RSHM mission,“That all may have life and have it to the full.”

A hallmark of life at Marymount is the emphasis placed on the development of the “whole girl”— academically, socially, and spiritually. While our curriculum is rigorous and opportunities to excel abound, the most important quality of our school is the environment that ensures each girl is empowered, nurtured and challenged in a way that allows her to grow into the distinct person she is meant to become. With this support system behind them, our girls fearlessly challenge themselves to grow their minds, spirits and hearts during their four years on Marymount’s campus, building a solid foundation grounded in self-awareness, ethics and poise as they move on to college and chapters ahead.

Heritage. The expansive and inclusive nature of our RSHM heritage permeates all areas of Marymount life and is founded on the principle that every girl, no matter her background, deserves a quality education. After nine decades of educating girls, we continue to foster and embrace the spirituality in each student, however she may define it for herself. The richness that a spiritual education provides in shaping thoughtful leaders with a responsibility to the common good, teaches our students religious literacy and mindfulness in a world where faith can divide.

Service Learning. A signature piece of the Marymount curriculum is the newly implemented service learning program which takes student interaction with service to a deeper level than ever before, beginning in the classroom. Service learning projects are tied directly to the Theology curriculum, engaging students first in dialogue and examination of social issues, then calling them to move beyond our walls to the outside world. Service projects are often completed in collaboration with our partners at “A Place Called Home”, an after school program offering low-income youth in South Central Los Angeles a safe space to study, play and learn. Through this, students learn how their unique skillsets and actions have a direct and immediate impact on our local community.

Technology Marymount is proud to have been the first all-girls secondary school in Southern California to institute a 1:1 student laptop program, equipping each student with the most recent MacBook Pro and each classroom with iPads.
