RAH!! RAH!! In a crucial league encounter with arch rival Springboro, the Spartans "pulled one out" when the game appeared to be lost. Several key baskets in the waning moments kept the Spartans close enough for Steve Stanley to perform his last minute heroics. Trailing by one point with four ticks left on the clock, he brought the ball up the floor with orders from the coach to pull the defense to him and then pass off to a big man underneath for a possible layup. However, the defense stayed back; Steve was forced to take an off-balance shot which went through just as the buzzer sounded.

SLUG
Despite certain set-backs, the sluggers of Coach Emsuer played with spirit and poise. The team was led in hitting by Ray Barrett at .382 and Chris Si mpson at .324. Two league losses in close games seemed to set the trend for games to come--pitching and defensive lapses seemed to tell the story during crucial league and tournament action.
