Narrative Report #2

On our second-week of observation, we haven’t got the chance to observe classes in Abellana National School due to the celebration of their Foundation Day. The students were only had their morning classes and obliged to go home afterwards. We decided to communicate with our mentor however she had only told us to go home since there are no classes in the afternoon. However, before going home, we helped our mentor in carrying the things needed in their celebration such as the fruits, wine and some utensils to be used after the program. We went to their gym as we helped our mentor in placing the stuffs. We were asked also to stay for awhile to watch their celebration program however, we were later asked to just go home and do the things we needed to do.

Foundation Day is a special occasion that is celebrated in schools all around the world. It is a day that marks the establishment of the school and its history. It reminds us of the hard work and dedication of those who established the school and contributed towards its growth. This helps to foster a sense of pride and belonging among the students, teachers, and staff members. Just as what we have observed, the principal of Abellana National School was in charged in giving awards in recognizing and acknowledging the hard work of their teachers. In this way, the school appreciates the efforts of those who have contributed to its success which will later result to increase the motivation of the teaching staff and non-teaching staffs in improving their work performance at school. Moreover, Foundation Day is a great way to promote school spirit and unity. The celebrations provide an opportunity for students, teachers, and staff members to come together and bond over their shared history and experiences. Seeing the teachers of Abellana National School wearing red, the food they have prepared for sharing and how they have designed their school in their celebration shows how they give importance to the celebration. This sense of camaraderie can help to improve the overall school culture and foster a sense of community.
To have this annual celebration is an important aspect in the teacher’s lives not just they have given the break with their teaching duties, they have been also acknowledged as a part of the teaching institution as well. This celebration is like a bridge in every teacher in the school which improves their relationship with one another that will result in having a healthier community they partake in. With this, each member of the school, nonteaching and the teaching staff will acknowledge their school’s history and the success they have been achieving over the years of teaching in the institution. The continuous growth and development of the school is also important to recognize as it opens the gate for improvement in later years.
