New care coming for aged

CRAIG WINTER

A TIMELY opening of new aged care facilities catering for respite, permanent, high care and dementia patients is slated for April 2022.

Developed by family-owned Signature group, the home has already taken many enquiries both from those seeking care for loved-ones as well as the local community inquiring about employment opportunities.

It is estimated that the new home will provide around 210 additional jobs for Maryborough.

Fraser Coast TESS CEO Lance Stone said that projects such as Maryborough Community Aged Care would give new jobseekers a much needed boost once they’d completed training.

“Aged care is a growing and much needed sector in our community” he said.

“We have hundreds of recruits asking about aged care training, but what’s important is their subsequent placement into good jobs.”

Signature have invested in the safety and security of residents and staff with innovative technology that begins at the front door, with a fever screening terminal that measures the temperature of every person entering and will restrict access if temperatures exceed 37.5 degrees.

Currently under construction at 15 Iindah Road, Tinana, Maryborough Community Aged Care is a purpose-built Aged Care home that will cater for up to 180 residents servicing Maryborough and the surrounding areas.

The home is expected to open around April/May next year and Care will be provided 24/7 by a team of dedicated Registered Nurses and qualified care staff.

Residents will also be supported by a lifestyle team that will be focused on ensuring everyone is engaged in a range of activities and programs that are adapted based on the residents’ needs and wishes.

Signature Care is a family owned business with a long history in aged care, that is involved in all aspects of the home including design, construction, operations and specific models of care and service.

Martin Jones, General manager of Client Services for Signature, says that residents will have access to many wonderful services, all available within the home.

“There will be a fully functioning café, chefcooked meals prepared fresh in-house daily, hairdressing and beauty salon, movie theatre, piano lounge, private dining room for special occasions, a library and various activity rooms.” he said.

All rooms will be single with their own private ensuite and have individually controlled air conditioning units for personal comfort.

The home will also accept government funded residents.

Construction is well underway, and even with the COVID freight and procurement issues being experienced around the country, good progress is still being made towards the estimated completion date.
