We opened our doors in 1971 to care for patients and more than 45 years later, Mary Bird Perkins’ doors are open across southeast Louisiana with multiple locations, helping people near and far. What has changed is how the organization has grown to become Louisiana’s leading cancer care organization. What’s changed is our sheer size and scope: the number of patients we serve, the number of people we reach in the community through education and screenings, the number of team physicians whose expertise is unmatched, the number of clinical trials we offer, the national recognition we repeatedly receive for leading in high quality cancer care, the number of lives saved, the number of programs added, the number of partnerships forged, the number of loyal donors securing the future—and the

BOBBY JONES While fighting non-Hodgkin lymphoma—a cancer of the lymphatic system—survivor Bobby Jones felt inspired and encouraged by a SUPPORT SYSTEM all his own.

Each year, Cancer Services hosts SPECIAL HOLIDAY EVENTS FOR KIDS AND THEIR FAMILIES WHO HAVE BEEN AFFECTED BY CANCER. Getting gifts from the community that are delivered by the big guy himself, decorating ornaments, and making special holiday cookies are just a few of the ways that Cancer Services makes kids’ holidays merry and bright in spite of cancer.

PARTNERING THROUGH PHILANTHROPY IN THE FIGHT AGAINST CANCER Individuals, communities, schools and businesses across Southeast Louisiana work in collaboration with Mary Bird Perkins to organize community events and programs to support the fight against cancer. RECORD-BREAKING YEAR FOR KARNIVAL KREWE DE LOUISIANE Karnival Krewe de Louisiane (KKDL), which was formed with the purpose of raising funds for cancer patients in the community, celebrated its 31st anniversary by raising $225,000 during its 2018 season—exceeding previous years’ donations. BENJAMIN BLANCHARD MEMORIAL FOUNDATION MAKES AN IMPACT To enhance early detection and patient assistance programs in the Northshore region, the Benjamin Blanchard Memorial Foundation recently presented Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center in Covington with a $100,000 gift, which funded the community’s first Live Well Northshore event. GONZALES AREA FOUNDATION FUNDS INAUGURAL LIVE WELL ASCENSION EVENT Ascension Parish residents took proactive measures to protect their health with the first ever Live Well Ascension in Gonzales. In a fun, community atmosphere, more than 200 cancer screenings were offered at no cost. RUBICON REACHES $1 MILLION IN CUMULATIVE GIVING Rubicon LLC, a 25-year supporter of Mary Bird Perkins, has reached a cumulative giving total of $1 million. These funds contributed to the Cancer Center have been generated through a number of initiatives including an annual golf tournament and employee giving.

More than 25 years ago, Hillar C. Moore, Jr. was instrumental in the fight against cancer by helping start the Mary Bird Perkins Charity Golf Classic. To honor Moore, the 2018 event was renamed as the HILLAR C. MOORE, JR. GOLF CLASSIC, raising $110,000 to directly care for thousands of people affected by cancer. The tournament has contributed a total of more than $2.5 million to the Cancer Center over the years. The highly anticipated LADIES NIGHT OUT event in Houma features patients in a unique fashion show along with delicious cuisine, exciting silent auction, forks and corks and other great spirited attractions. This event for men and women is a Houma tradition with more than 1,000 attendees, and keeps people coming back year after year. Supporters enjoyed the first-ever CANCER CENTER DONOR TAILGATE at the Journalism building for the 2018 LSU vs. LA Tech game. BENJAMIN BLANCHARD MEMORIAL FOUNDATION MAKES AN IMPACT To enhance early detection and patient assistance programs in the Northshore region, the Benjamin Blanchard Memorial Foundation recently presented Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center in Covington with a $100,000 gift, which funded the community’s first Live Well Northshore event. GONZALES AREA FOUNDATION FUNDS INAUGURAL LIVE WELL ASCENSION EVENT Ascension Parish residents took proactive measures to protect their health with the first ever Live Well Ascension in Gonzales. In a fun, community atmosphere, more than 200 cancer screenings were offered at no cost. RUBICON REACHES $1 MILLION IN CUMULATIVE GIVING Rubicon LLC, a 25-year supporter of Mary Bird Perkins, has reached a cumulative giving total of $1 million. Rubicon and its employees generated these funds for the Cancer Center through a number of initiatives, including employee giving and an annual golf tournament.

More than 25 years ago, Hillar C. Moore, Jr. was instrumental in the fight against cancer by helping start the Mary Bird Perkins Charity Golf Classic. To honor Moore, the 2018 event was renamed the HILLAR C. MOORE, JR. GOLF CLASSIC and raised $110,000 to care directly for thousands of people affected by cancer. The tournament has contributed more than $2.5 million total to the Cancer Center over the years. The highly anticipated LADIES NIGHT OUT event in Houma features patients in a unique fashion show along with delicious cuisine, exciting silent auction, forks and corks and other great spirited attractions. This event for men and women is a Houma tradition with more than 1,000 attendees, and keeps people coming back year after year. Supporters enjoyed the first-ever CANCER CENTER DONOR TAILGATE at the Journalism building for the 2018 LSU vs. LA Tech game.
