



Walter Lewis Leslie was born July 25th, 1945, in Chipley, Ga, to the late Charlie Mae Leslie and Sam “Duke” Leslie. Walter departed this life to be with the lord on May 18th, 2025.
He accepted Christ at an early age.
Walter was educated in the Coweta County School System, graduating from Central School.
On October 12th, 1965, he was united in holy matrimony to the late Mary Herring-Leslie.
Walter, known to many as PoShank and Baby Pooh, was a jack of all trades and a master none.
Walter loved his community and worked for the Newnan Housing Authority, the City Newnan for many years, Shaw Industries, and Dundee Mills. While living in Washington, D.C., he worked for the Wonder Bread Company. He also worked alongside his son Walter Leslie Concrete.
Walter is preceded in death by his parents, Sam “Duke” and Charlie Mae Leslie; his Mary Alice Herring-Leslie; two sisters, Johnnie B. Smith, and Emily Eiland; one brothe Willie Clarence Leslie; three grandchildren, Walter G. Leslie Jr., Allison S. Herring, Nathan W. Leslie, and Jerimiah N. McGill; and one great-grandchild, Romero S. Clark Jr.
Walter leaves to cherish his loving memories, one brother, Eddie “Buck” Leslie, and aunts, Cornelia “Good” Culpepper and Janette Brooks. Five sons: Reverend Stanley (Mary) Herring, Charlie W. Herring, Evangelist Dexter J. Sapp of Newnan, GA. Andrew Sapp Walter (Lisa) Leslie Sr., of Clarksville, TN. Two daughters, Mary (Christopher) Thomas Andrea (Jernea) Leslie-McGill of Newnan, Ga. A host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends will miss him dearly.
