A Note from Our Chaplain

Positively Impacting Others

A NOTE FROM THE EXECUTIVE TEAM Todd Martin

Ever get to the end of a long day and wonder what you accomplished - or if it even made a difference? I’ve asked myself that question more than once. And every time, I come back to a simple answer: If your work made a positive difference in even one person’s life, then yes - it absolutely mattered.

We’re often our own worst critics. We think something only counts if it’s big, bold, or impressive. The truth is, the biggest impact often comes from the smallest moments - an encouraging word, a helpful hand, a little extra effort. Here at Martin Companies, what you do matters. Every single day, we touch the lives of thousands of customers. Each interaction is a chance to be a bright spot in someone’s day, and it’s not the work of just one person - it’s all of us. Every time you bring positivity to a customer or a coworker, it adds up. The ripple effect is real.

Yes, what you did yesterday mattered. Yes, if you made one person’s day better, you achieved something great. It’s an honor to be part of the Martin Companies team. God bless each of you as you keep making a difference for one person, one moment at a time.

RENOVATION UPDATES

BROWNSTOWN, PA

We’re excited to share that the staff has officially moved into and are enjoying the new office space! The driveway received its final topcoat of paving, giving it a smooth, sleek black finish.

Demolition has now begun on Phase 2 of the project, which includes the former office and service areas. Stay tuned for more updates as the renovation progresses!

GENEVA, NY

We’re excited to share that our brandnew Geneva, NY location is coming to life! Watching this facility take shape has been nothing short of inspiring, and we can’t wait to open the doors to all the possibilities it will bring.

This location will serve as a hub for water conditioning sales and supply, helping us expand our mission of delivering clean, high-quality water solutions to more families, businesses, and communities across the region.

Stay tuned for more updates as we continue to grow and expand our reach!

RACE TO REMEMBER

We’re excited to highlight Tony Sensenig and his wife, Katie, for their incredible accomplishment in the Boulder Field 100 Ultra at Hickory Run State Park!

Katie ran 31 miles and crossed the finish line in an impressive 6 hours and 7 minutes, securing 3rd place overall. Tony took on the full 62-mile course, finishing in a remarkable 12 hours and 55 minutes, placing 12th overall.

Running an Ultra Marathon is no small feat - it takes endurance, focus, and determination. Tony and Katie’s performance is a true testament to pushing limits, supporting each other, and inspiring everyone around them.

Way to go, Tony and Katie!

Our summer picnic was packed with fun - from train rides and a helicopter candy drop to plenty of delicious food. The cornhole tournament crowned

James Kilmer and Tim Martin as winners. Thanks to everyone who joined for a day full of laughter and summer fun!

A Monday Morning Miracle

Sometimes life has a way of surprising you! What began as a Monday morning golf tournament for Delvin Horst at the Bald Eagle Benefit quickly turned into a race against time.

At the third hole, Delvin received the call: his wife was in labor! He jumped into a friend’s truck for the 3.5-hour drive home, running low on fuel the entire way. At one point, he even ran out of gas - but a kind local woman from Preston, MD, stopped along the roadside and drove him home, weaving through traffic to make sure he got there on time.

Thanks to her generosity (and God’s perfect timing), Delvin arrived at 5:05 PM, just in time to welcome his son, Grayson Luke Horst, at 6:30 PM - two weeks early!

As a thank you, Delvin offered her some cash. She later left a note on the truck explaining she was actually low on gas herself, and the money helped her cover it. Truly a Monday full of surprises and blessings!

CAKE INGREDIENTS

3/4 cup all-purpose flour

1 teaspoon baking powder

1/2 teaspoon baking soda

1 1/2 teaspoons ground cinnamon

1 teaspoon store-bought or homemade pumpkin pie spice

1/4 teaspoon salt

3 large eggs, at room temperature

2/3 cup fresh pumpkin

1/2 cup packed light or dark brown sugar

1/2 cup granulated sugar

1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract

CREAM CHEESE FROSTING INGREDIENTS

6 ounces full-fat brick cream cheese, softened to room temperature

1/4 cup (4 Tbsp.) unsalted butter, softened to room temperature

1 1/2 cups powdered sugar

1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract

FOR ROLLING:

3/4 cup powdered sugar

Pumpkin Roll

INSTRUCTIONS

1. Preheat and prepare pan: Preheat oven to 350°F. Spray a 10×15-inch baking pan with nonstick spray or grease with butter so the parchment paper will stick. Line the pan with parchment paper and spray or grease the paper as well. This ensures the cake releases easily.

2. Mix dry ingredients: In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, cinnamon, pumpkin pie spice, and salt. Set aside.

3. Mix wet ingredients: In a medium bowl, whisk together the eggs, pumpkin, brown sugar, granulated sugar, and vanilla until combined. Pour the wet mixture into the dry ingredients and whisk until fully incorporated.

4. Bake the cake: Spread the batter evenly in the prepared pan. Gently shake the pan to level the batter and ensure it reaches the corners. Bake for 16 to 17 minutes, or until the cake springs back when lightly touched.

5. Roll the cake: Meanwhile, lay a thin kitchen towel or parchment paper flat on the counter and sprinkle with 3/4 cup confectioners’ sugar. When the cake comes out of the oven, immediately invert it onto the towel and peel off the parchment paper. Roll the cake up gently in the towel. Let it cool completely rolled up in the refrigerator (refrigerate for about 2 hours to speed up cooling).

6. Prepare frosting: In a bowl, mix the cream cheese, butter, vanilla, and powdered sugar until slightly fluffy.

7. Frost and re-roll: Gently unroll the cooled cake and spread frosting evenly over the surface, leaving a border around the edges. Roll the cake back up slowly, without the towel. Cut off both ends once rolled up and sprinkle with powdered sugar.

8. Serve: Ready to serve!

DivisionalHighlights

Martin Heating & Cooling continues to build recognition and expertise in the Mitsubishi Mini-Split market, achieving Diamond Elite status in our first year. We are blessed to have the opportunity to meet the HVAC needs of many existing Martins customers, and that is keeping our schedules full. We have been benefiting from the 50 years of trust and customer confidence that Martins has built in the communities we serve and are excited about the opportunity to serve them. With our steady growth, we are seeking to add team members with experience in HVAC.

Our Appliance Installation team has been going above and beyond—working early mornings, evenings, and even Saturdays—to shorten installation lead times and create a smoother, more positive experience for our customers. Before the Peak Season program, our install schedule was more than two weeks out; by the end, the team had brought that down to just two to three days, a goal we haven’t been able to achieve since 2019. Their hard work paid off in a big way. During peak season, we invoiced 346 more appliances compared to the same period last year, including: 873 refrigerators (up from 790), 678 washers (up from 643), 682 dishwashers (up from 627), 534 dryers (up from 492), 583 ranges (up from 518). As part of this effort, the team also contributed a portion from each extra appliance installed, resulting in a $5,000 donation to Blessings of Hope.

Pure Test continues to enjoy steady growth building on its reputation for excellence and the relationship with the Martin Companies. We have added two new team members, Carl Weaver and Meron Mengitstu, in the past quarter. We have completed our first full season of Lead & Copper testing using the new ICP/ MS instrument. This new instrument has greatly improved the speed and efficiency of processing these tests. Congratulations to Mariah and Jaedon who welcomed a baby girl “Nora Brielle” on September 9th!

Martin Water Conditioning is excited to announce expanded coverage in the greater Albany area of New York, bringing our services to even more customers throughout the region. In addition, we’ve opened new supply centers on the Eastern Shore of Maryland, including Marydel Ag in Marydel, DE, and a location in Pocomoke City, MD.

We’ve also established new supply centers at Dunham’s Do-It Center in Wellsboro, PA, and Twin Clover Equipment in Pavilion, NY.

As the Water division continues to grow, we are grateful for the opportunity to serve new communities and look forward to continuing our expansion in the years ahead.

Late summer and early fall have been a busy season for the Quarryville furniture team. Our customers have been engaged and inspired by events such as the Tent Sale, Labor Day Sale, the Solanco Fair, and the Anniversary Sale.

We’ve recently begun showcasing new hardwood dining groups handmade by Amish craftsmen at Fusion Designs. While much Amish-made furniture follows traditional design cues, Fusion Designs, based in Goshen, Indiana, takes a fashion-forward approach. Using cutting-edge manufacturing technology and bold design elements, they combine the superior quality of handcrafted furniture with modern styling and unique finishes to create bespoke pieces built to stand the test of time. Their proprietary butterflyleaf mechanism and magnetic leaf locks further highlight Fusion’s seamless blend of innovation and style.

A NOTE FROM OUR Chaplain

As we experience the new season of fall, it is a reminder of new opportunities that each season brings.

As sure as we experience a change in seasons, we can be sure that our lives should also be experiencing new growth and change as we mature in our character and in the experiences that life brings.

One thing that’s helpful in encouraging change is to have resources to draw from to accompany what God has for us. One such resource is “Right Now Media,” which is an app provided by the Martin Companies. I have personally found it to be a helpful resource, and it’s been helpful to pass along to others. Right Now Media covers a large variety of topics, which will likely meet the need of most anything you’re looking for. If you haven’t already done so, please download this app for a helpful encouragement in your daily life.

Blessings, Delmar

Positively IMPACTING OTHERS

Even the smallest acts of kindness can leave a lasting impression on our customers. Our team at the Brownstown warehouse has shared heartwarming stories - from fixing a stroller wheel for a customer to helping someone open a stubborn sheet of Saran wrap. In our stores, we’ve gone the extra mile by squeezing in an emergency refrigerator so a family doesn’t lose their food. These everyday moments not only make a difference in people’s lives but also bring our mission statement to life.
