Findlay Napier is one of the most highly-regarded performers and creative forces on the Scottish music scene.

He made his name touring and recording with multi-award winning traditional Scottish folk band Back of the Moon. One of the most imaginative characters on the pop music fringe, Thomas Truax (pronounced troo-aks) travels the world performing with his “band” of bizarre self-made Tim Burtonesque instruments including a motorized drum machine made of bike wheels called ‘Mother Superior’ and a pimped-up Gramophone called ‘The Hornicator’, as well as his venerable resonator guitar ‘Hank’.

Big Country return with The Seer 30th Anniversary Tour, the third studio album released in 1986. The album featured very traditional Scottish musical settings, reminiscent of the band’s debut album The Crossing (1983). Big Country are steeped in a stunning catalogue of proud and stirring hit songs such as Fields of Fire, Chance and In A Big Country and the band continue to look beyond the next horizon in 2016.

This will be their first full tour reunited with original guitarist Alex Dickson.

Sunset Sons came into being when Rory, Pete, Jed and Rob encountered each other whilst pursuing their love of surfing in the sleepy French beach town of Hossegor. Drummer Jed came across frontman Rory hammering out cover versions (which incredibly took in everything from QoTSA to D12) on a bar piano, in-between stints pot-washing in the kitchen. That bar, ‘Le Surfing’, happened to be owned

In 1795 and 1805, Park led two expeditions to West Africa to chart the River Niger and investigate tales of vast gold wealth. Park died on the 2nd expedition, along with nearly all of his party. His journal survived. The play is a tragi-comic retelling of the story, with the 18th century figure of Park interacting with two young men from today. True North Scratch Night What or where is True North? Is it a place, a state of mind or both? Join us for a night of new scripts inspired by the far northern reaches of the imagination.

As a special addition to the night we’re staging a one off scratch performance of medieval Icelandic comedy all in the name of research to find out if the jokes our ancestors once laughed at, still tickle our funny bones today. ‘What country, friends, is this?’ Viola, Twelfth Night Tonight we’re heading back to 1601 to re-imagine a visit of the King’s Players to Aberdeen in that year. We’ll present the documented evidence, raise questions on how and where the Players would have performed, as well as explore the relevance of their visit today. Along the way we’ll perform extracts of Twelfth Night, one of the possible Shakespeare plays staged by the Players during their historic visit. Funny, entertaining and moving, Wee Stories bring their distinctive brand of story-telling to this rich production, based on true events leading to the Battle of the Somme in 1916. Video images, puppetry, music and performance vividly bring alive the enormity of this first global conflict for a new generation of young people.

We’ve printed the whole price of ticket in the brochure, this includes the booking fee (the only extra you’ll have to pay for is postage, but why not print your own at home?) – there could well be discounts for students, children, over 60s or APA Friends – just ask or check online.

DO I SIT OR STAND?

A bit of both – we try and create the right atmosphere for each gig, some will have seats, some won’t – we’ve tried to list it where we can here.

If it says ‘doors’ then that’s when the doors open and you get inside for a drink. If it says ‘start’ that’s when the show starts. Some shows have support acts, we can’t always confirm this until nearer the time and ‘start’ can mean the start of the support act, not the main act

HOW OLD DO I HAVE TO BE?

All ages are welcome, but under 16s must be accompanied by an adult, and under 18s can’t be near the bars.
