She returns to Aberdeen to play the Lemon Tree in support of her first solo album in 5 years “In Search Of Harper field” which has been described as an “emphatically punchy, infectious and spiky return”.

Colin Hay, familiar to millions as front-man, songwriter, and vocalist of pop sensation Men at Work (Down Under, Overkill, Who Can it Be Now?), released a new solo album on February 17, 2015 entitled Next Year People on Compass Records. It is the work of an artist who is a true master of his craft. The album is full of quizzical, curious, and cynical yet open-hearted songs with catchy melodic hooks that underscore deeply insightful lyrics.

Jo has been playing since she was a teenager, both solo and in various bands including Charlotte Says and Modern Uses for Velcro. She released her first album at 17, Nothing Whispered to Katy. In 2001 she released the album Radiaxial, an album featuring many live favourites which seemed to capture a lot of people’s imagination. For this rare show in aid of SAMH, Jo has pulled together some “weel kent” faces from Aberdeen’s music scene to reimagine songs from throughout her career..

One of the most imaginative characters on the pop music fringe, Thomas Truax (pronounced troo-aks) travels the world performing with his “band” of bizarre self-made Tim Burtonesque instruments including a motorized drum machine made of bike wheels called ‘Mother Superior’ and a pimped-up Gramophone called ‘The Hornicator’, as well as his venerable resonator guitar ‘Hank’.

Truax crafts rich, poetically evocative songs about insects, trees, technology and various reasons ‘Why Dogs Howl at The Moon’. £8.80 LOUNGE (seated)

Findlay Napier is one of the most highly-regarded performers and creative forces on the Scottish music scene.

He made his name touring and recording with multi-award winning traditional Scottish folk band Back of the Moon. In his more recent projects Queen Anne’s Revenge and The Bar Room Mountaineers his song-writing took centre stage and was described by The Sunday Herald as “Genuine songcraft and wit following in the Difford & Tilbrook tradition”.

But the Nazareth story isn’t just another from-rags-to-unheardof-riches tale of making it in rock‘n’roll. Nazareth are a Scottish rock band that had several hard rock hits, as well as scoring with the Felice and Boudleaux Bryant-penned ballad Love Hurts, in the middle of the 1970s.

Workshops will be offered in areas including sound recording, event planning, marketing, as well as plenty of time to develop practical music skills. Well known for her accordion work, innovative vocal harmonies and rich instrumental textures with award winning songwriter Karine Polwart and the ‘other-worldly’ glitch-folk of her solo campaign, Inge’s latest project “Da Fishing Hands” is a collection of songs inspired by Fair Isle’s intimate and essential relationship with the sea.

Kardemimmit are a Finnish folk music group and players of the kantele, the national instrument of Finland, in its 15 and 38 stringed forms. Their vocal harmonies are tight and fit so well together they could be sisters.

Lau are modern folk music’s most innovative band. Brilliant musicians, thrilling performers and free-thinking visionaries. In February 2013 Lau won the award for Best Group at the BBC Radio 2 Folk awards for a fourth time.

Dreamers’ Circus are a unique blending of precocious talent, remarkable technical skill and bold artistic vision. They are one of the main forces behind the current movement towards contemporary and vibrant Danish folk music.

Trio Red features 3 innovators from 3 of the most vital jazz scenes in Europe. Tom Bancroft on drums, Brodie Jarvis on bass and Tom Cawley on piano. Between them they have played a key role in some of the most groundbreaking signature groupings in their home scenes over the last 15 years.

Live performances feature the musical approach presented on the new CD, material like a mash up of Joan Armatrading and Ornette Coleman, a Jeff Buckley cover and some of Tom Bancroft’s original compositions plus some very accessible melodic and rhythmic improvised pieces where the focus is on interaction, empathy and compelling collective musical storytelling.

There has never been a better time to submit a script to us, as this year the National Theatre of Scotland, in partnership with A Play, A Pie and A Pint, will be offering at least one writer from our Script Reading Programme, the chance to be one of our next Breakthrough Writers.

Breakthrough will see a writer’s idea optioned by A Play, A Pie and A Pint for a potential production and offered paid script development support by the National Theatre of Scotland. This workshop will be a chance for you to hear more about opportunities for writers at the National Theatre of Scotland, and give some inspiration and advice on how to start (or finish) your play.

A bit of both – we try and create the right atmosphere for each gig, some will have seats, some won’t – we’ve tried to list it where we can here.

If it says ‘doors’ then that’s when the doors open and you get inside for a drink. If it says ‘start’ that’s when the show starts. Some shows have support acts, we can’t always confirm this until nearer the time and ‘start’ can mean the start of the support act, not the main act

HOW OLD DO I HAVE TO BE?

All ages are welcome, but under 16s must be accompanied by an adult, and under 18s can’t be near the bars.
