Welcome to Edgewood College M O V E -IN D AY: A U G U S T 1 8 Welcome to your first year at Edgewood College! If you’re living on campus, you have your room assignment. Your Resident Assistant is here to help, you’ve been messaging with your new roommate for weeks, and you are ready to unpack and start this new chapter.

O R I E N TAT ION : A U G U S T 1 8 - 2 0 Now that you’ve settled in, it’s time for First-Year Orientation! This is the time when we celebrate you joining our community, as well as share with you some of the amazing resources we have on campus to support your success until graduation.

Check out your COR 1 Seminar!

Today at 10:17 AM At the heart of our general education program is COR, which comes from our motto cor ad cor loquitur, “heart speaks to heart.” In this series of classes from your first year to your last year, you’ll connect with the community and reflect on hands-on learning experiences. First-year seminars cover topics as diverse as biotechnology, puppetry, food, or spirituality and justice. You’ll meet your classmates at Freshman Orientation and work together throughout the Fall Semester to build a learning community dedicated to connecting learning, beliefs, and action.

Your COR 1 Seminar S TU D Y In your first semester, you’ll explore a topic of your choice with a faculty mentor, peer leader, and classmates – who you’ll meet at Orientation and get to know! You’ll broaden your horizons together, gaining new perspectives and encouraging each other.

R EF L E C T COR 1 encourages you to consider your own identity, values, beliefs, worldviews, and spiritualities, as you consider the questions “Who am I, and who can I become,” and “What is my role in building a just and compassionate world?”

AC T You and your classmates will get out into the community, or meet with community members in your classroom, so you’ll be able to apply your learning right away. These seminars are an important way we connect learning, beliefs, and action.

Here, there are limitless opportunities to make your education your own, both in and out of the classroom. For example, be civically engaged by volunteering, where you can take your learning outside of the classroom.

M A KE C ON N E C T ION S and explore career paths with an internship or immerse yourself in another culture first-hand by studying abroad. You can even get an internship abroad, where you’ll broaden your perspective and gain real-world work experience!

EX P R E S S Y OU R C R E AT IVIT Y by participating in visual art, music and theater performance, and creative writing and journalism. You will also be able to participate in athletics to build collaboration, drive, and leadership skills in a challenging and fun environment.

I’m so proud of you! How did you find it?

The ASCDC! And they even helped me with my resume!

What is the ASCDC? The Academic Success and Career Development Center. I can drop in during open hours throughout the week. That’s where I meet with my counselor once a month this year!

You remember how I wasn’t sure what I wanted to do with my life right? (lol) Well my counselor has tools and suggestions that help me figure out not only what I WANT to do, but HOW to get there!

I’m so glad they have an office to help you navigate it all!
