A serious motor vehicle collision on Idylwyld Drive Tuesday morning resulted in a vehicle fire, critical injuries, and a major police investigation involving multiple agencies.

Emergency crews were called to the scene at approximately 8:10am on May 5, after reports of a collision near 60th Street East along Idylwyld Drive. Upon arrival, officers with the Saskatoon Police Service encountered a vehicle fully engulfed in flames, with thick black smoke visible from a distance.

Traffic in the area was heavily impacted, with all northbound lanes of Idylwyld Drive closed at the Highway 16 flyover as police and fire crews worked to bring the situation under control.

Further information released later in the day revealed the incident began earlier that morning, when a vehicle was reported driving erratically.

According to police, a Dodge Durango, reported stolen out of Prince Albert, was being monitored after travelling from Highway 11 into Saskatoon.

Shortly before 9:00am, an officer with the Corman Park Police Service attempted to stop the vehicle in relation to a manner-ofdriving complaint. The driver failed to stop and fled southbound before crossing the median into oncoming northbound traffic.

The suspect vehicle then collided with a northbound Ford Transit van south of the Highway 16 overpass. The van subsequently caught fire.

The driver of the van, an 82-year-old man, was transported to Royal University Hospital in critical condition. A police officer involved in the earlier attempted stop was also taken to hospital as a precaution.

Three individuals were taken into custody following the incident. Charges are pending.

Due to the circumstances surrounding the collision, the Saskatchewan Serious Incident Response Team (SIRT) has assumed responsibility for the investigation.

Growth and Taxes Take Centre Stage at May 5th Council Meeting Shanine Sealey, Martensville Messenger

Martensville City Council met on Tuesday, May 5th for its first meeting of the month, beginning with a delegation from Conrad Ehr of Ehrenburg Homes and a public hearing on the proposed Lake Vista 2 Concept Plan.

The Lake Vista 2 development, proposed by North Ridge Development Corporation, would see approximately 167 acres of land north of the existing Lake Vista neighbourhood developed into a mix of residential housing and community spaces.

Plans include an estimated 1,662 housing units, with a projected population of nearly 4,000 residents once fully built out.

The concept plan outlines a variety of housing types, along with parks, walking trails, a sports field, and stormwater features integrated into the design. The area is located near Kinsmen Park and the joint-use elementary school, positioning it as a continuation of the city’s existing residential growth.

Much of the major infrastructure required to support the development, including water and sewer systems, was installed during the earlier phases of Lake Vista, meaning development could proceed relatively quickly following approval. Additional elements, such as road alignments, park designs, and stormwater management features, would be finalized at later subdivision stages.

Administration noted that the proposal aligns with the City’s Official Community Plan and long-term growth strategy, although some aspects, such as traffic impacts and emergency response planning, will continue to be evaluated through upcoming citywide planning processes.

Council also reviewed a request from the Martensville Maddogs football program to waive $4,500 in rental fees at the Martensville Recreation Centre. The organization plans to use the indoor facility for fall programming while the outdoor football field undergoes maintenance and upgrades, limiting its availability. The total projected cost for facility use is approximately $7,500.

In addition, council considered establishing two new advisory committees aimed at strengthening community input and oversight. The proposed Protective Services Committee and Recreation & Green Space Committee would each include three members of council and up to four members of the public, appointed for two-year terms.

Another item before council was the proposed closure of Centennial Drive North on September 12th to accommodate the city’s annual car show. The long-running event continues to grow in popularity, with more than 200 vehicles participating in the previous year.

Council also reviewed a proposed increase to the city’s uniform mill rate, rising from 6.23 to 6.57 to align with the previously approved 2026 budget. The change would result in an average annual property tax increase of approximately $95 for homeowners.

Young Entrepreneur Set to Hit Streets with Sweet Treats Bike Shanine Sealey, Martensville Messenger

A young Martensville entrepreneur is preparing to roll into the community with a sweet new business venture this spring.

Ten-year-old Gus is getting ready to launch Gus’ Sweet Treats, a mobile snack and ice cream bike inspired by the classic Dickie Dee experience. Beginning in early May, residents can expect to see Gus making stops around local parks, neighbourhoods, and gathering spots, offering a variety of treats along the way.

The idea first came about last October during a Warman Wolverines game, when Gus spotted an old Dickie Dee bike and asked what it was. After learning how they used to travel through neighbourhoods selling ice cream, he quickly asked if he could do the same.

“You bet you can,” his parent recalled telling him, and from there, the planning began.

Rather than purchasing a pre-made unit, the family decided to build their own to better suit Gus’ vision of offering more than just ice cream. With the help of Luke Beaulac of Corbeau Welding in Martensville, who donated steel and welding support, construction began on March 28th. The design evolved over time, eventually landing on a setup that includes a front-mounted freezer and an electric assist motor to help power the bike, which is expected to weigh close to 500 pounds when fully stocked.

Gus’ Sweet Treats will carry a range of prepackaged ice cream products, along with chips, sunflower seeds, candy such as Skittles and Sour Patch Kids, as well as drinks including pop, water, and Gatorade. Prices will range from approximately $1.50 to $7.00 per item.

During May and June, Gus will primarily be found near the Martensville Athletic Pavilion (MAP), skate park, and baseball fields, fitting outings in around school and extracurricular activities. By July and August, the plan is to expand into residential neighbourhoods and make stops at the spray park throughout the summer.

While there won’t be a fixed schedule, updates on Gus’ location will be shared regularly through the Gus’ Sweet Treats Facebook and Instagram pages so residents can track him down.

Despite his young age, Gus is fully prepared to operate the business, complete with a valid business licence and the ability to accept both cash and debit payments.

The venture will also be available for bookings at local events, with inquiries accepted through social media or by email at gussweettreats@gmail.com.

“I think it is going to be fun,” said Gus. “Everyone deserves a treat once and a while.”

With warmer weather on the way, Gus’ Sweet Treats is expected to bring a fun and nostalgic experience to Martensville, all while giving residents a chance to support a young local entrepreneur.

Busy May Ahead for Martensville-Warman Early Years Centre Shanine Sealey, Martensville Messenger

Families in Martensville and Warman will have plenty of opportunities to connect, learn, and play this May as the Martensville-Warman Early Years Family Resource Centre rolls out a full calendar of programming for parents and young children.

The centre’s May schedule features a wide variety of drop-in and registered programs designed to support early childhood development while creating opportunities for family bonding and community connection.

Among the returning favourites is Bonding Through Play, offered multiple times throughout the month, providing a welcoming space for caregivers and children aged 0–5 to explore, play, and socialize together.

Programs tailored to specific age groups are also featured, including Tummy Explorers for infants aged 0–12 months, which focuses on supporting developmental milestones such as rolling, crawling, and reaching, while also connecting parents with professionals who can answer questions about early development.

Creative programming continues with Lil’ Picassos and Lil’ Scientists, giving children the chance to explore art and hands-on STEM activities alongside their caregivers. Meanwhile, Lil’ Readers encourages early literacy through storytime and crafts.

For parents, the popular Sip & Chat sessions return throughout the month, offering a relaxed environment to connect with other caregivers while also accessing support from professionals in areas such as mental health, physical health, and parenting strategies. Sessions this month include collaborations with the Canadian Mental Health Association and Prairie Hope Wellness.

Music and movement are also on the schedule with Kindermusik, offering sessions for both younger and older toddlers. The program is designed to support developmental growth through music, rhythm, and movement.

Special events planned for May include a Prenatal Education Day on May 9, bringing together a team of professionals to support expecting families, and a Mother’s Day Event on May 11 featuring activities, treats, and mini photo sessions for moms and their children.

Additional programming throughout the month includes a Culture Day, Water Sensory Play, a Language & Literacy Workshop, and a walk-in Immunization Clinic for children aged 0–5.

The centre will also host a Dayhome Drop-In on May 13, providing local dayhomes with dedicated time to access the space, as well as a Yoga for Kids session later in the month in partnership with Quiet Life Studios.

Looking ahead, the centre is exploring the development of a French Immersion Support Program for the 2026–27 school year, with support from Prairie Spirit School Division. Families interested in French Immersion, or those seeking additional support for children already enrolled in immersion programming, are encouraged to complete a survey to help guide planning for the initiative.

Regional Park Pass Lending Program Returns for 2026 Shanine Sealey, Martensville Messenger

The Regional Park Pass Lending Program is returning for the 2026 season, offering Saskatchewan residents an easy and affordable way to explore parks across the province.

Beginning May 15th and running through September 8th, individuals with a valid Saskatchewan library card can borrow a regional park pass from any participating library branch.

Each pass allows for free entry to nearly 100 regional parks for up to seven days.

The program, a partnership between the Saskatchewan Regional Parks Association and the Saskatchewan Library Association, will once again be available province-wide. Passes will be distributed to all regional library branches, as well as libraries in Saskatoon, Regina, Prince Albert, and Lloydminster, along with university libraries in Saskatoon and Regina.

Each pass provides entry for one vehicle and its occupants, giving users unlimited access to participating parks during the loan period. While admission is covered, visitors should note that additional costs, such as camping, equipment rentals, activities, and special events, are not included.

Passes are available on a first-come, first-served basis and cannot be placed on hold or renewed. Borrowers are limited to one pass per household and must return it to the same library branch. Lost or unreturned passes will result in a $60 replacement fee, and overdue items may lead to a temporary freeze on library accounts.

Province Seeks Opinions On Social Media Limits For Youth

The Government of Saskatchewan is looking to hear directly from families in the province regarding placing limits on social media access for youth under the age of 16.

"We are interested in a dialogue and understand the federal government is open to a conversation about placing limits on social media," Premier Scott Moe said. "We want to go into that conversation with the knowledge that we are representing the wishes of our residents."

Government wants to hear directly from parents and residents what role government should play and how far it should go between an outright ban, some flexibility for parental consent or leave entirely to parents.

A postcard will be mailed to households across the province in the coming days that includes several questions on possible social media limits and a option for comments. The postcard includes prepaid postage for return mail by June 30th, 2026.

The results will be tabulated over the summer.

"We encourage everyone who receives a postcard to participate and have their voice heard," Mental Health and Addictions Minister Lori Carr said. "We know there is growing concern over the harmful effects of social media on mental health, particularly for young people and we want to be sure we are being respectful of parents wishes in how we can support our youth to have happy, healthy childhoods."

The federal government is considering potential restrictions on social media use by individuals under the age of 16. This survey seeks input from Saskatchewan families on potential restrictions for the following major social media platforms: TikTok, Facebook, Instagram, YouTube and Snapchat.

Cones Ice Cream Opens for the Season May 8 Jocelyn Ottenbreit, Martensville Messenger

A sure sign of summer’s return in Martensville is just around the corner as Cones Ice Cream prepares to open for the season.

The popular local spot, located in Kinsmen Park, will kick off its sixth season on Friday, May 8th. Since first opening in 2021, Cones has become a go-to destination for residents looking to cool off, catch up with friends, and enjoy a treat in the park.

Founded by Martensville High School friends Carson Heuchert, Wyatt Strueby, and Alex Garchinski, what started as a small business idea has quickly grown into a community favourite and a staple of the summer season.

Customers can once again expect a wide variety of ice cream flavours, including returning favourites along with some new additions to the menu this year.

While there will be a few new staff members joining the team, the friendly service Cones is known for will remain the same.

In addition to ice cream, Cones will also be introducing “dirty sodas” this summer. The trending drink blends soft drinks such as cola, root beer, or lemon-lime soda with added flavours like syrups, cream, and even fresh fruit or lime juice. Often described as a mix between a soda and a milkshake, dirty sodas offer a customizable, dessert-style beverage option for customers to try.

Cones Ice Cream will be open daily throughout the summer, operating from 3:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on weekdays and 1:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on weekends.

Gaming Grants Deliver Funding Boost to Martensville Groups Shanine Sealey, Martensville Messenger

Community groups in Martensville are among the many organizations across Saskatchewan benefiting from the latest round of charitable gaming grants, with funding supporting local sports teams, service clubs, and youth programs.

Lotteries and Gaming Saskatchewan (LGS) recently announced that more than $3.4 million was distributed in the fourth quarter of the 2025–26 fiscal year, reaching over 1,500 groups in more 26052WW0 than 280 communities.

In Martensville, a wide range of organizations received funding through the program, helping offset costs associated with programming, equipment, travel, and ice time.

Leading the local recipients was the Kinsmen Club of Martensville & District, which received $7,212.58, followed by the Ultimate Booster Club with $5,804.54.

A significant portion of the funding also went toward minor hockey and youth sports, with numerous Martensville Marauders teams across multiple age divisions receiving support. This includes U9, U11, U13, U15, U16, and U18 teams, along with groups such as the Martensville Minor Hockey Association and several Pirates, Snipers, Bandits, and Prowlers teams.

Additional funding supported local soccer, including Valley United Soccer Club’s U13B Rovers, while the Warman Wildcats U13AA female hockey team, which includes players from the region, also received funding.

The grants are part of a provincial program that provides funding to organizations conducting licensed charitable gaming activities such as bingos, raffles, poker tournaments, and other events. Eligible groups receive grants equal to 25 per cent of the net revenue raised, to a maximum of $100,000 annually.

“Our government is proud of the charitable spirit of Saskatchewan people, and charitable gaming grants are one of the ways we support charities and nonprofit groups across the province,” said Minister responsible for LGS Jeremy Harrison. “These gaming grants go to groups engaged in a diverse range of activities, including arts, culture and sport, hospital foundations, service clubs and more.”

Across Saskatchewan, the latest round of funding included $714,350 distributed to Saskatoon organizations and $885,481 to groups in Regina, along with additional funding to communities in Prince Albert, Meadow Lake, Humboldt, Weyburn, Estevan, Melville, and Swift Current.

Disc Golf Lessons Offered for All Ages in Martensville R e s i d e n t s looking to try something new this spring will have the opportunity to learn the basics of disc golf through an upcoming program in Martensville.

A six-week “Learn to Play Disc Golf” program is set to begin on May 21, offering beginner-friendly lessons for participants of all ages.

The program is designed to introduce players to the fundamentals of the sport in a fun and supportive environment.

Participants will learn from experienced local players, with all necessary equipment provided, making it easy for newcomers to get started without needing prior experience.

The program is divided into age groups, with sessions running from 5:15 to 6:15 p.m. for ages 5 to 8, 6:15 to 7:15 p.m. for ages 9 to 15, and 7:15 to 8:15 p.m. for those aged 16 and older.

The cost for the full six-week program is $65 per participant.

Spots are limited, and those interested are encouraged to register early.

Saskatchewan Stands With Canadian and Western Hockey Leagues Against American Lawsuit Saskatchewan is taking a stand for the CHL and WHL as part of an ongoing legal dispute.

In 2024, the World Association of Icehockey Players Unions brought a class action in the Southern District of New York against the CHL and its constituent hockey leagues, including the WHL. All Saskatchewan WHL teams are named as defendants.

The lawsuit was dismissed in New York, re-filed in the Western District of Washington, and dismissed again on the grounds that the court lacked jurisdiction over Canadian major junior hockey. The plaintiffs have now appealed to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit.

"We believe the District Court was correct to decline to exercise jurisdiction over Canadian major junior hockey, which involves primarily Canadian leagues, Canadian teams, and Canadian players," Justice Minister and Attorney General Tim McLeod, K.C. said. "Saskatchewan will continue to protect the ability of the WHL and the CHL to conduct their business in Canada without interference from foreign jurisdictions."

Saskatchewan has, in partnership with British Columbia, Alberta, and Manitoba, filed a legal response in support of WHL and CHL's position that argues the limits of U.S. jurisdiction over Canadian hockey, emphasizes the importance of major junior hockey to Canadians, and outlines the responsibility of Canadian governments to regulate major junior hockey in Canada.

"For many years, Saskatchewan has been supportive of the five WHL Clubs operating in the Province, three of which are community-owned franchises," WHL Commissioner Dan Near said. "We are thankful for the Province's leadership and support on this matter, and the role our Clubs play in galvanizing communities throughout Saskatchewan."

The western Canadian provinces, including Saskatchewan, are represented by Holland and Knight LLP in the United States.

The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit is expected to make a decision after hearing the parties’ arguments.

While email notifications will be sent, it remains each hunter's responsibility to check their results through their HAL account. Province Offers Grants For Suicide Prevention

For a second year, the Government of Saskatchewan is offering grants to community partners to support suicide prevention initiatives across the province.

The Suicide Prevention Grant Program encourages community partners to develop creative ways to support suicide prevention, with a focus on training and skills development, increasing awareness of resources, reducing stigma, and building capacity to mobilize community action.

Total funding of $350,000 is available, with each successful applicant receiving up to $10,000.

“The tragic loss of one person to suicide is one person too many,” Mental Health and Addictions Minister Lori Carr said. “Addressing self-harm and suicide is a priority for our government. Through these grants, we are working together with partners to support the mental health of Saskatchewan residents.”

Applications will be accepted from groups such as community-based organizations, Indigenous communities, school divisions, and municipalities.

Fifty-three groups received suicide prevention grants in 2025-26, including Southeast Advocates in Estevan and Weyburn.

"This funding has allowed us to invest in critical suicide prevention training for our entire team," Interim Executive Director of Southeast Advocates Shannon Fodchuk said. "Through the Canadian Mental Health Association Weyburn branch, we are training our staff to recognize when someone may be struggling and respond in a meaningful, supportive way. As an organization serving vulnerable populations, this training is essential to ensuring we can provide safe, informed, and compassionate support when it matters most."

Applications for this second year of the Suicide Prevention Grant Program come as the province recognizes May 4 to 10 as Mental Health Week.

The grant program is part of Pillars for Life: The Saskatchewan Suicide Prevention Plan. Released in 2020, Pillars for Life serves as a guide for government and partners to improve and expand suicide prevention efforts in the province.

In addition to the Suicide Prevention Grant Program, several key provincial suicide prevention initiatives include: • funding the community-led Roots of Hope Suicide Prevention initiative in five northern Saskatchewan communities; • funding a provincial rapid access counselling for suicide loss support program through Family Service Saskatchewan, which supports the immediate psychological needs of families and friends of people who have died by suicide or survived with significant injury or trauma; • support of a family engagement group to gather feedback from families who have experienced suicide loss; • development and distribution of suicide prevention wallet cards; • support for suicide prevention public awareness campaigns to inform individuals that help is available for people thinking of, or affected by, suicide; and • promotion of the national Suicide Crisis Helpline, 9-8-8.

This year, Saskatchewan is investing a record $674 million in mental health and addictions, which includes $2.3 million specifically for suicide prevention initiatives.

Two New Group Homes For Youth Requiring Mental Health and Addictions Support Open in Saskatoon

Two new group homes providing stable housing for youth experiencing mental health and addiction challenges officially opened in Saskatoon today. The Government of Saskatchewan is providing close to $1.4 million in annual operating funding for the Retreat Home program operated by EGADZ. "These new Retreat Homes increase capacity for youth with complex needs and reflect our government's commitment to providing stable supports that help youth focus on recovery," Social Services Minister Terry Jenson said. "Through strong partnerships with EGADZ and the Saskatchewan Health Authority, we are creating safe spaces for our youth to heal and move towards brighter futures."

This project, called Wolf home, was made possible through a collaborative investment from multiple partners. The Government of Canada, through the Reaching Home Federal Homelessness Grant, contributed $400,000 toward construction.

Additional contributions include $352,000 from the Ministry of Social Services, $298,000 from the Saskatchewan Health Authority, a $250,000 donation from local philanthropists Wally and Colleen Mah, and $200,000 from EGADZ's general reserves.

The Retreat Home program supports youth who require a higher level of care due to complex challenges with 24-hour care, cultural support and a youth-centred recovery program. The development of the two new group homes at their new location enabled the expansion of the program from five to 10 spaces.

"These new group homes will help offer Saskatoon youth additional mental health services, providing the resources they need for a healthier, safer life," Mental Health and Addictions Minister Lori Carr said. "I appreciate the great work that EGADZ is doing to help our young people feel cared for, supported, and equipped to face a better future."

The program is shaped by youth through the Youth Advisory Team, ensuring services reflect lived experience and meet real needs.

"It is important for young people to remain in their community supported by family and friends," the Youth Advisory Team said. "Wolf homes will make this happen."

EGADZ continues to play a vital role in supporting vulnerable youth in Saskatoon, delivering a range of programs focused on safety, stability, and long-term success.

"Wolf homes are another example of our commitment to the youth of Saskatoon," EGADZ Executive Director Don Meikle said. "With the opening of these two homes an additional 10 beds will be provided for youth ages 12 to 16. The homes will have additional supports including mental health and addiction services to ensure proper programing happens for the youth."

The previous Retreat Home location will become a new five-space group home for male youth. EGADZ also operates the Garden of Hope dedicated to youth with mental health and addictions needs.

Province Increases Income Assistance Supports

Starting in May, monthly core income assistance benefits are increasing, as announced in the 2026-27 Provincial Budget.

"This year's budget increases help to protect vulnerable people across our province," Social Services Minister Terry Jenson said. "By raising income supports, we are helping make the costs of daily life more affordable for individuals and families with low income."

Beginning May 1, 2026, an $11.7 million investment is raising core income assistance benefits by two per cent, providing households up to $40 more per month.

Saskatchewan Income Support (SIS) clients will receive higher monthly benefits for the fifth consecutive year, and this is the fourth year in a row that monthly benefits will increase for Saskatchewan Assured Income for Disability (SAID) clients.

Income assistance clients will also benefit from the following rate increases coming into effect on May 1, 2026: • SAID residential support benefits for families that care for their loved ones at home will receive a 30 per cent increase over the next three years (10 per cent each year). This is a $2 million investment in 2026-27 that will increase benefits by up to $130 per month for about 1,800 clients.

• The monthly incidental income exemption in SIS and SAID will double from $100 to $200 per household per month, giving clients greater flexibility to access additional resources or receive monetary gifts without their benefits being impacted.

Government is also introducing a new benefit in May 2026 in the SIS program to help prevent evictions and support at-risk clients to remain successfully housed. A $400,000 investment will provide a new $1,000 one-time per household utility arrears recoverable benefit to prevent evictions. The ministry is also investing an additional $250,000 in 2026-27 to further increase trusteeship and money management spaces by 150 and help over 1,450 clients across the province manage their benefits. Since 2021, direct pay of rent and utilities has also been available for SIS clients who need it.

Since 2007, the province has increased its investment in income assistance programs by almost $378.7 million or 123.1 per cent.

Grandparent Scam Continues to Victimize in Saskatchewan Saskatchewan residents are once again being warned about the ongoing “grandparent scam,” which continues to target individuals across the province using increasingly sophisticated tactics.

Recent reports from the Battlefords area in April included at least one confirmed victim who handed over cash to a scammer. In that case, the victim was instructed to use a specific name and passcode during the transaction. Police say this type of detail is being used more frequently to make the scam appear legitimate.

In other recent incidents, scammers have directed victims to deposit cash into cryptocurrency ATMs using barcodes provided by the caller, sending funds directly to digital wallets that are difficult to trace. Authorities have also noted that scammers are continuing to use the names of real lawyers in their communications to build trust.

Closer to home, White Butte RCMP reported two separate incidents this past week involving residents in the Pilot Butte area. In both cases, scammers attempted to arrange in-person meetings to collect money. Fortunately, those situations were reported to police before any money was exchanged.

The “grandparent scam” typically involves a caller pretending to be a relative, often a grandchild, claiming they are in urgent trouble and need money for bail or legal fees. Victims are pressured to act quickly, often before they have a chance to verify the story. While the scam is commonly associated with seniors, police emphasize that anyone can become a target.

Authorities are reminding the public that police, lawyers, and courts do not contact individuals to request money. Bail and fines are handled through official court processes, and there are no legitimate couriers who will come to a home to collect payments.

Residents are encouraged to take a moment before acting if they receive a suspicious call. Calling the family member directly to confirm the situation, refusing to send money to unknown individuals, and trusting your instincts can help prevent becoming a victim.

Anyone who believes they may be targeted or has lost money is urged to contact RCMP at 310-RCMP, or 911 in an emergency.

Escaped Goats Safely Returned After Roadway Standoff

Break and Enter Investigation Continues in Warman and Martensville Area

Saskatchewan RCMP have provided an update on an ongoing investigation into multiple break and enter incidents in the Warman and Martensville area, while also sharing new information related to a separate armed robbery case.

According to police, investigators with the Central District General Investigation Section identified a suspect in connection to an armed robbery that occurred in Warman on December 13, 2025. However, that individual is no longer in Canada and is considered inadmissible to return.

RCMP noted that no charges have been laid in the case, and as a result, no additional details about the individual can be released publicly. Police stated the update was provided in the interest of transparency and to give the community a better understanding of the complexities involved in ongoing investigations.

The investigation into a series of break and enters reported between October 7 and December 30, 2025, in the Warman and Martensville area remains active. RCMP confirmed that the individual identified in the robbery investigation is not considered a suspect in those incidents.

Police continue to ask anyone with information related to the break and enter investigation to come forward. Tips can be reported to RCMP by calling 310-RCMP, or submitted anonymously through Saskatchewan Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) or online at saskcrimestoppers.com.

Fire Ban Issued for Parts of Corman Park Amid Dry Conditions

The Corman Park Police Service had an unusual call earlier this month after responding to livestock at large near a busy rural intersection.

In the early evening hours of May 3, officers were called to the area of Highway 219 and Grasswood Road following reports of animals on the roadway. Upon arrival, police located three white goats that had escaped from a nearby farmyard pen and made their way onto the road, creating a hazard for passing motorists.

After a brief standoff, officers were able to safely contain the goats and assist the owner in returning the animals to their enclosure.

The owner was issued a charge under the Rural Municipality of Corman Park’s animal control bylaw for allowing animals to be at large.

No injuries were reported. The goats declined to comment on the incident.

A total fire ban has been issued for several areas within the Rural Municipality of Corman Park as dry conditions continue to elevate the risk of wildfires.

The municipal order, issued Tuesday, May 5th, took effect at 9:00am and applies to Division 1, Division 7, and Division 8. Under the ban, all outdoor fires within these divisions are prohibited until further notice.

Officials say the decision was made to help mitigate the increased fire risk caused by recent dry weather. Any outdoor fires currently burning within the affected divisions must be extinguished immediately, and no new fires are permitted.

The ban includes, but is not limited to, fire pits, burning barrels, controlled burns, and fireworks.

Certain exemptions remain in place. The fire ban does not apply to indoor household fireplaces or outdoor propane and natural gas fire tables. Propane, natural gas, pellet, or briquette-fueled cooking equipment such as barbecues and smokers are also permitted. Fires used by fire protection organizations for training or preventative control measures are allowed when conducted in accordance with proper procedures and approvals.

Residents are being reminded to use extreme caution with any permitted heat sources and to follow all manufacturer guidelines.

Those unsure whether their property falls within the affected divisions are encouraged to contact the RM office or consult the division map available on the municipality’s website.

The fire ban has been issued as a municipal order under the Fire Services Bylaw and will remain in effect until conditions improve and the order is lifted.
