Registration Information Program information including: dates, times, locations, and ages are included in this guide. There are three ways to register; on-line, by telephone, and in person. We accept cash, cheque, debit, and credit card.

How to Register On-line registration can be found on our website at www.martensville.ca, look for the Program Registrations button near the bottom of the page. In person and phone registration will take place at the Martensville Athletic Pavilion. We are located at 200 Mike Sands Boulevard and our number is 306-683-5576. Hours of operation are MondayFriday 7:00am - 10:00pm and Saturday and Sunday 8:00am - 9:00pm. All registration fees must be paid in full when registering. We accept cash, cheque, debit, and credit card.

Refund Policy

A refund request that is received ten (10) days prior to the start of course will receive a 100% refund. No reason shall be required.

A refund request received within 10 days of the course starting or once the course has commenced, and no more than 20% of the course is complete will receive a 50% refund.

After 20% of any course has been completed no refund shall be issued.

100% refund will be issued if the program is cancelled by the Recreation & Community Services Department.

A pro-rated refund will be issued under the following circumstances; - Medical reasons, a medical certificate will be required.

- Program class cancellations, where classes cannot be made up.

KidSport Martensville TM

What is it?

KidSport is a children’s charity dedicated to assisting children and families facing financial obstacles with the opportunity to participate in community sport programs. The primary goal of Kidsport should be for ALL kids to play and have fun!

How Does the Program Work?

Individual grants of up to $750 are available per calendar year for children or youth up to the age of 18.

Application forms for KidSport are available at the MAP. How Can YOU Help?

Support KidSport through purchasing raffle tickets, attending events, purchasing cut outs or simply making a donation. Tax receipts are provided for any donation over $25.00. 100% of donations and fundraising proceeds support children right here in Martensville.

In 2021 Martensville KidSport received over 40 applications totalling over $12,500. Each year we see an increase in the amount of applications and unfortunately, we have not been able to fully fund all applications.

Please support Martensville KidSport this year so ALL kids can play!!

Jumpstart Help kids learn new skills, build confidence, and boost their self-esteem. Every dollar of your donation helps them get into the game. Jumpstart is a community based charitable organization that helps kids in need participate in organized recreational activities. This program will also help to fund equipment costs. The jumpstart application is on-line at https://jumpstart.canadiantire.ca/pages/individual-child-grants.

Intercommunity Development Group The Intercommunity Development Group consist of members form Martensville, Warman, Osler, Dalmeny, and Langham. The primary focus is to raise funds for children who wish to participate in arts, culture, drama, or recreation not covered by KidSport or Jumpstart.

2022 Sask. Lotteries The purpose of the Sask. Lotteries Community Grant program is to provide funds to local, non-profit and volunteer-based organizations whose sole purpose is to provide programs and services in the sport, culture, or recreation sector. Your project or event must take place between April 1st, 2021 and Mar. 31st, 2022. Applications must be submitted by March 15th.

Recreation Membership & Program Accessibility This program will offer a discounted rate on yearly recreation facility memberships at the MAP and city operated leisure programs for families and individuals whose income is below a certain level.

The discounted membership will be 50% off the original price of a yearly membership at the Martensville Athletic Pavilion. The discounted leisure program registration will be 80% off the original price of the city offered leisure program, up to a maximum of $200 per family member per year.

Families or individuals looking to apply for this program must complete the application form and provide all required documents. All information on the forms provided by the participants will be strictly confidential. Applications are available at City Hall and the MAP. This program is only for City of Martensville residents.

Sportball for Pre-schoolers This provides children with an opportunity for independent learning and autonomy among other social and developmental benefits. Our trained and certified coaches introduce pre-school and elementary children to the fundamental skills behind 9 popular sports. THIS IS A DROP-OFF PROGRAM. Children have a blast developing their independence and confidence by attending “all by themselves.” Check out their web site for more information on this amazing program. www.sportball.ca.

Teams will be formed, and parent volunteers will act as coaches and assistant coaches. We will provide you with an excellent handbook and resources that will make it easy to follow and implement. A small incentive will also be provided to all the coaches and assistant coaches. If you are interested in coaching, please email areddekopp@martensville.ca. The registration deadline will be April 13th for this program.

Sportball for Toddlers Toddlers and parents focus on physical movement and social exploration through an introduction of a different sport each class using developmentally appropriate games and activities. Art Classes - Beginner

Easter Cookies

This class will be an exploration of art and an introduction to different mediums. Each child will learn techniques with pencil, charcoal, pastels and acrylic paint. We will spend two weeks on each art form and complete a piece of art in each medium to take home. Students can pick from pictures provided to create their masterpieces!

Each student will receive individual help to advance their abilities as they work on their artwork. Join us for some fun!

Art Classes - Intermediate Once you’ve mastered the art basics in my Beginner Art Class, you can move into the Intermediate Art Class. We will learn more art techniques like perspective and try out different styles in the same mediums as our beginner class.

Our final project in each medium will be your choice and you will have several classes to complete it. Join us for some fun!

Babysitters Course

One of our most popular and famous programs!

This course is packed full of advice, guides, tips, and information based on real life experiences, from kids and experts in the know. The Babysitter’s Training program has tons of activities and hands-on practice to increase student confidence and provide skills needed to be the best babysitter possible. This course is 7 hours long so please send a lunch for their lunch break.

Family Night Out A great place to come to burn off some energy with the kids. Choose from a variety of sports including basketball, badminton, pickleball, dodgeball, soccer etc. It is an open gym setting just come and choose what you would like to do. A great way to spend some active time with your family. Cash only.

Home Alone Plus First Aid Are you wondering when it’s safe to leave your child at home alone for a few hours before or after school or while you run errands? This entertaining four-hour child safety workshop is one of our most popular courses and is designed to prepare children to look after themselves during the times you aren’t there. Important skills are learned through interactive lessons and role play that help make both you and your child more confident when they are at home alone. First Aid for Kids teaches students how to respond to medical emergencies, such as cuts, burns, choking or broken bones.

Pickleball Jr. Come try out one of the new crazes that is reaching out to our younger generation now. Pickleball is a paddleball sport that combines elements of tennis, badminton, and table tennis. This is a drop-in program so feel free to come to one or all of the evening sessions. Facilitators will be there to help anyone that needs it.

Youth Programs Sportball for Big Kids School children are introduced to the concepts and skills involved in 9 popular sports. Blended learning is a combination of in-class, face-to-face instruction with online instruction. Typically, theory and information are conveyed to participants outside of the classroom through an online component. This allows for the in-class component to concentrate on skill development and the application of theory.

Line Dancing Line Dancing is a fun social activity, promoting exercise, helping to develop and/or maintain posture, balance, coordination, and memory. A line dance is a choreographed dance with a repeated sequence of steps in which a group of people dance in one or more lines or rows. There are no partners and anyone of any age and gender can line dance. In the class, all participants will face the same direction, and execute the pattern of steps at the same time. Music of all genres – classic, country, pop, latin, modern….; rhythms – waltz, two-step, polka, jive, charleston, foxtrot, cha cha, rumba, swing, street dance, rap…

Ultra Beginner / Beginner: No previous dance experience and knowledge required. Simple dance style and rhythms. Steps to learn are walking, toe point, hook, heel splits, rock forward – back – side, weave, toe struts, triple step, hip bump, ¼ turn, ¼ turn jazz box, coaster step, forward shuffle, back shuffle, kick ball change, lindy, skate, and scissor steps…..

High Beginner / Improver: Previous line dance experience and knowledge required. Steps and dance patterns and turns are simple/complex, with complex dance style and rhythm. Steps to learn are pivot turn, ¼ monterey, ½ monterey, rolling vine, turning shuffle, diagonal shuffle, cross unwind ¾ turn, ¾ on spot turn, sailor step, sailor ¼ turn, combination turns… tags or restarts in music…

Intermediate: This is the most popular level of social line dance, and this classification will feature dance routines suitable for experienced dancers. Basically, dancers who have completed beginner and improver dance and mastered a comprehensive range of step patterns, body position/movements and dance rhythms. An intermediate routine is likely to feature interesting step combinations, pauses, syncopations, body movements, timing variations and styling. (i.e. heel jack, apple jacks, vaudeville step, dorothy step, mashed potato, sailor ½ turn, full turns, hesitation, pencil or spiral turns, mule kicks, plus tags, phrases and restarts in the music and dance)

Pickleball is a new sport that combines elements of tennis, badminton and table tennis. Pickleball can be played as doubles or singles. Come try out this exciting sport. Games will reflect a recreational league-style play.

A valid PAL card is required to purchase non-restricted firearms and ammunition.

Seniors Walking and Pickleball (55+) We will be continuing our Seniors Programming at the MAP. Come for some fitness, socializing, games, laughs, and good times. Use our fitness center, play pickleball, badminton, or walk the track. There is something for everyone.

Vinyasa Flow Yoga

This class can help you build upon what you already know from other Aqua Fitness classes. Many options to make this the perfect work out for you!

Choose your intensity and work at you own speed while still maintaining a challenging cardio workout designed to improve your strength, flexibility and coordination. NO swimming experience is necessary.

This vinyasa-style flow involves linking several yoga poses together creating strength, flexibility, endurance, and balance. A focus of connecting breath to movement will relax and calm the mind. The classes will effectively work all parts of the body in an environment of non-judgement and noncompetitiveness. Attention to connecting breath mindfully to move through the postures and creating a balance for greater health and mental awareness. All levels welcome.

Aqua Intense (Bootcamp) Are you ready to work? Our Aqua Intense class is designed for those looking for a serious cardiovascular and strength workout in the water. We will challenge your balance and help you achieve the fitness goals you desire. NO swimming experience is necessary although comfort in the water is important.

Gentle Yoga Practice the form of the basic yoga postures, while allowing yourself to experience a gentle slower paced class. Attention to connecting breath mindfully to move through the postures and creating a balance for greater health and mental awareness.

Zumba Zumba is a fusion of Latin and international music that will make you sweat. Interval training at its best. Be prepared to ditch your normal workout and join the party. Featuring samba, meringue, reggaeton steps and more. Bring your water bottle and a towel.

Toddler Time Frenzy This event has been a hit this winter, so we are going to extend it until summer. Shake off those winter blues and bring your little ones to our Toddler Time Frenzy at the MAP!! We will have our Toddler Time toys, a Bouncy Castle, and some extra fun activities for the kids. We will also have coffee and treats for all the caregivers if they need a break. Cost will be $5/child and will be held at the MAP on the first Thursday of the month from January – June.

Martensville Business Expo Join us for the 2022 Martensville Business Expo on April 29 from 5-8pm and Saturday April 30 from 10am-4pm and reconnect with the businesses and organizations in our community!

There will be delicious food, great drinks, and local entertainment all Expo long! A pancake breakfast will be on Saturday from 8-10am and it is by donation!

Taste of Martensville will also be happening which showcases some of the amazing restaurants and cafes here in town! Taste of Martensville will be in operation on Friday from 5-8pm and Saturday from 11-3pm! If you would like to get involved or would like to become a vendor, please contact the Prairie Sky Chamber at 306-292-7066!

Glow Skate Take advantage of one of the last public skating days of the season. On March 13 from 1-2:30pm, join us for Glow Skating! Strap on the skates and dress in bright neon colors and head down to the Sports Center. This glow party will have dimmed lighting, glow sticks and music! Admission is by donation to Martensville KidSport or by donation of non-perishable food items to the Martensville Free Pantry.

Easter Egg Geocaching Martensville residents love Geocaching! This time, participants will use GPS coordinates to find the Easter eggs hidden around Martensville during the Easter Break through April 18-24th.

Enjoy the week off school by participating in the challenge. Find all the eggs and be entered to win the grand prize! Winner will be drawn on Monday April 25th.

City of Martensville Events Community Information & Volunteer Appreciation Night – April 27th The City of Martensville would like to invite you to our Community Information & Volunteer Appreciation BBQ on Wed. April 27th at the North Ridge Hall between 5:00pm - 8:00pm. We have many dedicated, hard working volunteers in our community that run various sport, culture, and recreation organizations. We want to give you a chance to see the great things they have to offer while enjoying a free meal on us. Mark your calendars for Wednesday April 27th and hopefully we will see you there!

Amazing Race Amazing Race Martensville will take place on Saturday, May 7th and we welcome all ages to participate. We will plan a great event full of fun indoor and outdoor challenges. Teams embark on a quest throughout Martensville, challenging themselves physically and mentally to win the Amazing Race Martensville! Teams of 4 can register at the MAP for the cost of $20/team. Local businesses who are interested in getting involved should contact 306-683-5575.

Monster Garage Sale The Spring Monster Garage Sale will take place on Friday, May 27th & Saturday, May 28th for the City of Martensville and the City of Warman. The registration fee is $5 and that gets your address listed on the flyer along with the map of our City, balloons, and Monster Garage Sale signs. The flyers will be available to pick up at various gas stations, at the MAP, and City Hall. We will advertise this event through numerous local papers and social media to guarantee a great turn out! The registration deadline is Tuesday, May 24th at 12:00pm.

Recreation & Community Services Community Garden The City of Martensville has developed two community garden spaces, one in Kinsmen Park and one along 9th Avenue N. near the cart track.

Interested individuals are asked to please submit their names requesting a plot. Preference for allocation of these plots will be given to those individuals who have no available land to garden (ie: those living in apartments, condos). Bench Dedication & Tree Planting Programs The Bench Dedication and Tree Planting programs were implemented for the purpose of providing benches and trees along the community walking paths, parks and designated boulevards. Kinsmen Park With over 100 acres of green space located in the heart of the City of Martensville, Kinsmen Park is Martensville’s destination park. From sport activities to casual leisure enjoyment, Kinsmen Park is a great meeting place for family and friends. Amenities include a three kilometer lit pathway system that connects directly to the City pathway system, 9 hole disc golf course, 2 outdoor fitness pods with 11 pieces of equipment, park benches, picnic shelter, toboggan hill, 3 tennis/Pickleball courts, full size outdoor basketball court, playground, community garden, skate park, fishing, and gazebo.

Kinsmen Park is also home to the Kyle Syrenne Skatepark, Martensville Slo-Pitch diamonds, and is connected to the Martensville Athletic Pavilion, Mocon Baseball fields, North Ridge Community Centre, multi-purpose sports fields, the Martensville Aquatic Centre, and three additional ball diamonds.

Pump Track The City of Martensville is very excited about this new facility that opened in the summer of 2021. It is a great facility that is connected directly to the Kyle Syrenne Skatepark.

So what is a Pump Track?

• A pumptrack is a course containing hills and berms that are ridden by “pumping” with your arms and legs to propel yourself forward rather then pedaling or pushing.

• It allows for good riding conditions rain or shine, and is good for all wheels as well!

• If it has wheels, it can be enjoyed on this track. – Bikes, Scooters, Boards, Blades, Wheelchairs, Striders • It promotes a healthy, active outdoor lifestyle.

• It allows for opportunity to engage with others who would not typically engage in a team-sport setting.

• It teaches balance and coordination which are useful tools for any sport.

• They are fun!

Lions Park

Lions Park is located at 416 6th Avenue South and is a popular park for family gatherings, with plenty to offer for young and old. This park features a Spray Park with 17 different spray features and concrete basin. The Spray Park opens the first weekend in June and runs until the Tuesday after the September long weekend. Hours of operation are 10:00am-8:00pm. Another feature of Lions Park is the newly constructed gazebo. The gazebo provides that needed shelter and area to host family outings or special events. Plenty of green space is also available for a variety of games.

Recreation & Community Services Off-Leash Dog Park The off leash Dog Park is a year round park located on the south end of Martensville west of 10th Ave S. This is the only area in Martensville that permits dogs off leash. Patrons are reminded to obey park rules which are posted at the entrance to the park from the parking lot. Users of the Off Leash Dog Park will find a large open space for dogs to run as well as pathways within the treed area of the park. Residents can access the park by vehicle and by foot using the pedestrian bridge off the paths behind Glenview Cove.

Cemetery The site is located east of Martensville at the south-east corner of Township Road 384 and Range Road 3052. Phase I of the cemetery includes 296 casket lots, 282 cremation lots, half of which can accommodate two cremated remains. Phase I also includes a columbaria section where remains can be stored. The cemetery will be operated out of City Hall. Anyone interested in a cemetery lot may call 306-931-2166 to inquire about the plots. Martensville’s New Multipurpose Recreation Facility The City of Martensville, partnering with the Martensville Community Recreation Project (MCRP), is set to deliver a phased facility to meet the ever-growing demand for more ice and indoor field time. Where will it be? The new facility will be located on the west side of Martensville and anchor the newest subdivision slated for Martensville. Trilogoy Ranch will be a 680 acre residential and commercial development slated to be builit out over the next 25 years, be home to an additional 10,000 residents.

Community-Driven: $2.8M Raised + $3M Land Value • In addition to the City’s $6.5M commitment, the MCRP and a group of community volunteers have raised $2.8M to date for this facility! A HUGE thank you to the people who have worked tirelessly towards the new facility - your dedication, your passion and your efforts have driven this project. You make the community stronger and will make this dream a reality.

• Land for the facility is also being provided in the Trilogy Ranch subdivision and valued at over $3 million.

Toddler Time Frenzy – NEW THIS WINTER This event has been a hit this winter, so we are going to extend it until summer.

Shake off those winter blues and bring your little ones to our Toddler Time Frenzy at the MAP!! We will have our Toddler Time toys, a Bouncy Castle, and some extra fun activities for the kids. We will also have coffee and treats for all the caregivers if they need a break. Cost will be $5/ child and will be held at the MAP on the first Thursday of the month from January – June.

Fitness Area The fitness area consists of 4 treadmills, 3 ellipticals, 6 bikes (spin, upright, and recumbent), a cable cross machine, ab machine, leg curl, leg extension, pec fly, leg press, and chest press.

Children under 12 are not permitted in the Fitness Area. Children aged 12-14 must be supervised by an adult when using the Fitness Area.

After School Drop-In If your kids are bored or you want them to get a little more active, then bring them down to the Athletic Pavilion. Ages 8-17 can come and partake in a variety of sporting activities.

Anyone 8 and under must be accompanied by an adult.

Seniors Walking and Pickleball (55+) We are excited to be continuing our Seniors Programming at the MAP. Come for some fitness, socializing, games, laughs, and good times. Use our fitness center, play pickleball, badminton, or walk the track. There is something for everyone.

Senior’s Globe Walk We are excited to bring back our Seniors Globe Walk Program.

During community consultations, older adults identified the need for more physical activity and social opportunities during the winter months. The Seniors Globe Walk is a response to that need. Globe Walk is free to all participants 50+, it’s motivational, it’s fun and it’s easy to join. Please note that you will have to sign up to participate in this program. Brochures and registration forms are available at the front desk of the MAP.

Toddler Time Need to get your toddler out of the house for a while? Toddler time is an open gym time with a variety of equipment and play apparatuses. At this program parents/caregivers share with their children the importance of play in a fun and interactive setting. Indoor footwear or socks are required, and all food must be consumed in the lobby area. Juice, coffee etc. can be taken on the court if it is in a travel mug or water bottle.

Local Service Groups Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) Alcoholics Anonymous is a fellowship of men and women who share their experience, strength and hope with each other so that they may solve their common problem and help others to recover from alcoholism. The only requirement for membership is a desire to stop drinking.

Martensville New Horizons Seniors Martensville New Horizon Senior Centre invites anyone 55 years of age or older to join and become members of the Centre. Our Potluck supper is every Monday at 5:30pm. Coffee is every Wednesday morning at 10:00am, everyone welcome. Due to Covid no Bingo will be played until further notice.

Bingo is normally the second and forth Wednesday at 7:00pm. The Quilters group meet every Tuesday from 9:00am-4:00pm. For more information regarding the Quilting club, contact Kay Butt at 306-384-8215.

When we are permitted by the Health Authority to resume social activities like cards, shuffleboard, games of pool, and entertainment it will be announced to our members. There is an AED Defibrillator on the premises, and we have purchased an Electrostatic Cleaner for Sanitizing. Our season starts in September and ends with a bar-b-que in June. Membership is $50.00 a year.

Some activities are subsidized with the Grant from Sask Lotteries, these include: out of town bus trips to the Spa, RCMP Museum in Regina, purchased tickets for the Train Excursion from Cudworth to Wakaw, local school plays, Barn Theatre, MAP memberships, and entertainment at the centre.

The Royal Bank in Warman donated a laptop to the organization and the Affinity Credit Union Grant has been instrumental in providing funds for improvements, including recent purchases of chairs for the Centre, a commercial dishwasher and this year, a commercial stove.

With the Federal (CRA) Grant we have received in recent years we have provided an upgraded ramp, widened the steps and platform to accommodate wheelchairs or walkers, etc., new roofing, flooring and our proposal for this years Project (if approved) is to remodel the kitchen with new cabinets.

Route 11 Creative Arts Route 11 Creative Arts Centre is a grassroots local creative community. The cultural hub is located in the old library building at 101 Klassen Street West in Warman, Saskatchewan. Sask Central Victim Services Inc. Sask Central Victim Services Inc. is a police-based program that provides confidential assistance to victims of crime and other tragedy. Martensville Senior Pickleball Club The Martensville Senior Pickleball Club, as its name implies, is a group of seniors who come together to play pickleball for fun and recreation. The games provide an opportunity for light exercise with a high importance placed on friendships and socializing.

Club members currently play during Senior Drop-In times at the Martensville Athletic Pavilion, from 1-4pm on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. In spring and summer months, we enjoy outdoor play at the new outdoor courts next to the Martensville Sport Centre. (arena) Pickleball is a sport that combines elements of tennis, badminton and table tennis and can be played as doubles or singles. We welcome players of all skill levels. Periodic training clinics are offered for both beginners and more experienced players.

Spring Six A Side Tackle: Registration for Spring tackle is open online at www.saskatoonminorfootball.com on January 1st. Spring program runs from the end of April until the end of June and is available for players Grades 5-8.

Lake Vista Public School Lake Vista Public School hosts the Martensville Pre-Kindergarten Program, available to selected 3 and 4 year olds in our community. Local Service Groups Skate Martensville Skate Martensville is sad to announce that we once again will not be hosting our annual year end Carnival show at the end of March. The skaters are excited to perform a mini recital for their parents instead. We are looking forward to seeing all that the skaters have learned this year.

574 “Dakota” Royal Canadian Air Cadet Squadron 574 Dakota Squadron meets every Thursday (Sept – Jun) at the North Ridge Centre in Martensville from 6:30pm to 9:00pm.

Servicing the Martensville, Warman, Dalmeny and Osler areas, we are a youth program for those between the ages of 12 and 19 years of age.

Air Cadets participate in a variety of activities such as survival weekends, sports weekends, range, gliding/power flying and much more. The Cadet program helps to develop today’s youth by instilling communication & leadership skills, discipline, and service to others, which are the basis of a great citizen.

The aim of the Air Cadets movement is to: • develop good citizenship and leadership • promote physical fitness • stimulate an interest in flying Feel free to stop by on any parade night to see what we are all about. Martensville Soccer Association (MSA) Outdoor season is here! We have introduced a new structure to training and Martensville will be participating in league play again, so this means matches as well as training. League games will be for teams U9 and up with league play beginning April 24, 2022. U5 & U7 will be a house league, Registration is open, and we are in need of volunteers, coaches and refs for the upcoming season, training will be provided for refs and coaches.

Enjoy a Storyland Adventure at the Martensville Library. Book a 45 minute self-guided experience in our program room for your family, cohort or daycare group. Each adventure includes stories to share, games and activity stations, all centered around the storyland theme. After the session, pick up one of our Take & Make craft kits for more fun at home.

(The activities and books are geared for children Kindergarten age and younger, but all ages and abilities are welcome.)
