Mini Moves
Sportball for Toddlers
Is a recreational activity-based program that teaches physical and social skills for pre-school children through games, and activities. They will enjoy balls, parachutes, imagination, and free time.
Toddlers and parents focus on physical movement and social exploration through an introduction of a different sport each class using developmentally appropriate games and activities. This is a parented class. Each child attends this program with ONE parent or guardian. Check out their web site for more information on this amazing program. www.sportball.ca.
Mini Soccer/Blastball 2.0 As we continue with the Physical Literacy project in the community, we are excited to keep upgrading this program!! The focus of the program will be on skill development and fundamentals that will help the children be confident and motivated moving forward in sport. This is an outdoor program which will still include both Soccer and Ball skills. We are very excited about the changes and feel this will be a fun program with continuous action and stimulating drills. Teams will be formed, and parent volunteers will act as coaches and assistant coaches. We will provide you with an excellent handbook and resources that will make it easy to follow and implement. A small incentive will also be provided to all the coaches and assistant coaches. If you are interested in coaching, please email jmcculloch@martensville.ca. The registration deadline will be April 12th for this program.

Martensville’s New Multipurpose Recreation Facility The City of Martensville, partnering with the Martensville Community Recreation Project (MCRP), is set to deliver a phased facility to meet the ever-growing demand for more ice and indoor field time. Where will it be? The City is exploring a few locations with accessibility and growth opportunity for our community and region – the best location to meet the recreational vision and best serve our residents. We will update you once a location is chosen.
How will this facility be funded? The City and the MCRP are focused on Phase 1 with a project cost of approximately $13M. Phase 1 of the project is focused on an additional arena, seating and leisure ice surface. In November 2018, the City allocated $6.5M towards construction of Phase 1. These funds came from recreation levies over the last two annual budgets. Our goal is to move forward with this project without raising taxes to cover capital costs of building the facility. In addition, the MCRP – a local volunteer non-profit – has raised $250,000 over the past 5 years for Phase 1. The City and the MCRP are partnering to fundraise the balance for Phase 1. We are pursuing government funding for future phases. Stay tuned over the next number of months for some exciting updates! To see the fully phased rendering of the project visit MCRP.ca or martensville.ca A new multi-purpose facility will provide positive impacts in respect to sport, leisure and economic spinoffs in the community and region. Together we can create the capacity to not only retain sporting events and create and expand programs, but also the potential to bring a variety of major sporting events into region. This will be a positive development for the local business community that will see increased visitors coming to the community to participate in sport.

The MCRP welcomes your support and invites you to any one of their many fundraising activities they hold through the year. Visit MCRP.ca for more information.

Why does Martensville need a new rink? “It would be awesome. There would be so much more ice time!! We could host our own tournaments again! And we wouldn’t have to travel out of town as much for practices. Maybe other teams would come to our rink too…they could also host tournaments and practice at our nice new rink.” - Blake Carlson, Baseball & Hockey Athlete “More time to play the game I love with my friends.” - Ryland McConnell, Hockey Athlete

Pump Track The City of Martensville is very excited to build this new venue that was identified in the Kinsmen Park Master Plan. Construction is moving forward, and we are planning to have it available this year. We feel it will be a great complimentary facility to the Kyle Syrenne Skatepark. So what is a Pump Track? • A pumptrack is a course containing hills and berms that are ridden by “pumping” with your arms and legs to propel yourself forward rather then pedaling or pushing. • It allows for good riding conditions rain or shine, and is good for all wheels as well! • If it has wheels, it can be enjoyed on this track. – Bikes, Scooters, Boards, Blades, Wheelchairs, Striders • It promotes a healthy, active outdoor lifestyle. • It allows for opportunity to engage with others who would not typically engage in a team-sport setting. • It teaches balance and coordination which are useful tools for any sport. • They are fun!

We coordinate various riding clinics and activities for club members throughout the year and also enjoy getting outside and hitting the trails as a rewarding way to enjoy nature. Whether you’re just looking for some new people to ride with or for the opportunity to learn a little more about your horse in a relaxed atmosphere, this Club may be right for you. Come on out and let’s see what we can learn from each other. For more information email SaskValleyRidingClub@gmail.com.

Check out the 13th annual Canada Day celebrations at the North Ridge Centennial Community Centre right here in Martensville! We are already busy planning a great day!! There will be lots of great FREE activities for all ages. The day kicks off in the afternoon, starting with an Art Show and Community History Showcase. Family activities start at 1:00pm with crafts, games, scavenger hunt and more. To add to this, cupcakes and ice cream are served to the first 200 people. Activities will continue into the evening and wrap up at 8:00pm. The feature event of Canada Day in Martensville is the fireworks display and the Cinema Under the Stars – a GIANT 3 storey inflatable movie screen in Martensville. Once again, the Martensville Information and Visitor Centre is working hard to get a brand NEW animated movie, one that is so new that it’s still in theatres and won’t be available on video yet. A BBQ and concession will be on site throughout the event , some favourites available will be popcorn, cotton candy, non alcoholic beverages and other snacks. Glow sticks will also be available throughout the evening. All proceeds support the programs and projects at the Martensville Information and Visitor Centre. Please watch for a more detailed list of events to come as COVID - 19 restrictions evolve and will direct how the event will go. In the case of COVID - 19 restrictions plans to increase our online virtual festivities with social distancing activities alongside our “Drive - In” or “Drive - Thru” events for Canada Day such as treat pick up, Fireworks and Outdoor Movie Theatre will be observed. We are always looking for volunteers to help with planning this event and to help throughout the day.
