Qigong
This is a combo class that involves moderate weight training and cardio to enhance strength and endurance. A full body workout that will challenge and energize you!! We’ll get your heart rate pumping!
“Qi” (chi) means energy and “gong” means to work with. Qigong, an ancient Chinese teaching, simply means working with your body’s own energy. This practice uses gentle body movements, visualization, and breath to help you manage stress and anxiety, heal physical and emotional pain, practice mindfulness, and maintain a healthy balanced life. Anyone – regardless of ability, age, or beliefs – can benefit from the simple but powerful healing practice of Spring Forest Qigong.
Gentle Yoga Practice the form of the basic yoga postures, while allowing yourself to experience a gentle slower paced class. Attention to connecting breath mindfully to move through the postures and creating a balance for greater health and mental awareness.
High / Low Hi/Lo is an aerobic mix of high intensity and low intensity moves put together in an easy to follow format. The cardio combinations will keep you moving to the music!
POUND Instead of listening to music, you become the music in this exhilarating full-body workout that combines cardio, conditioning, and strength training with yoga and pilates-inspired movements. Using Ripstix®, lightly weighted drumsticks engineered specifically for exercising, POUND transforms drumming into an incredibly effective way of working out.
Vinyasa Flow Yoga This vinyasa-style flow involves linking several yoga poses together creating strength, flexibility, endurance, and balance. A focus of connecting breath to movement will relax and calm the mind. The classes will effectively work all parts of the body in an environment of non-judgement and non-competitiveness. Attention to connecting breath mindfully to move through the postures and creating a balance for greater health and mental awareness. All levels welcome.
Yin Yoga Yin yoga is a gentle practice that uses longer holds to move deep into the body’s connective tissues. The YIN practice is designed to relieve stress while the heat stimulates deep muscle release and relaxation. This is an excellent non-weight bearing style of yoga for all levels, those who prefer a less vigorous class and for those experiencing illness, injury or chronic pain. It is also a great compliment to a regular yoga class.
Zumba Zumba is a fusion of Latin and international music that will make you sweat. Interval training at its best. Be prepared to ditch your normal workout and join the party. Featuring samba, meringue, reggaeton steps and more. Bring your water bottle and a towel.

Martensville’s New Multipurpose Recreation Facility The City of Martensville, partnering with the Martensville Community Recreation Project (MCRP), is set to deliver a phased facility to meet the ever-growing demand for more ice and indoor field time. Where will it be? The new facility will be located on the west side of Martensville and anchor the newest subdivision slated for Martensville. Trilogoy Ranch will be a 680 acre residential and commercial development slated to be builit out over the next 25 years, be home to an additional 10,000 residents.
How will this facility be funded?
The City and the MCRP are focused on Phase 1 with a project cost of approximately $13M. Phase 1 of the project is focused on an additional arena, seating and leisure ice surface. In November 2018, the City allocated $6.5M towards construction of Phase 1. These funds came from recreation levies over the last two annual budgets. Our goal is to move forward with this project without raising taxes to cover capital costs of building the facility. The City and the MCRP are partnering to fundraise the balance for Phase 1. Land for the facility is being provided in the Trilogy Ranch subdivision and valued at over $3 million. We are pursuing government funding for future phases. Stay tuned over the next number of months for some exciting updates! To see the fully phased rendering of the project visit MCRP.ca or martensville.ca A new multi-purpose facility will provide positive impacts in respect to sport, leisure and economic spinoffs in the community and region. Together we can create the capacity to not only retain sporting events and create and expand programs, but also the potential to bring a variety of major sporting events into region. This will be a positive development for the local business community that will see increased visitors coming to the community to participate in sport.

Why does Martensville need a new rink? “It would be awesome. There would be so much more ice time!! We could host our own tournaments again! And we wouldn’t have to travel out of town as much for practices. Maybe other teams would come to our rink too…they could also host tournaments and practice at our nice new rink.” - Blake Carlson, Baseball & Hockey Athlete “More time to play the game I love with my friends.” - Ryland McConnell, Hockey Athlete

MCRP - Martensville Community Recreation Project The Martensville Community Recreation Project is working to provide a new rink and multi-sport recreational facility in the City of Martensville. We host multiple events to raise awareness and funds, which go directly towards that goal. Through the efforts of community volunteers, we have donated over $1.9 million to the City of Martensville, which is dedicated towards the task of funding the construction of a new rink and multi-sport facility in the community. The city has released some preliminary plans for a new multi-joint facility in Martensville and building plans are underway!!! As a community based, volunteer-led charity, who has raised over $1.9 million, we are now hopeful the Province of Saskatchewan will choose this much needed project this Fall to fund through the Federal-Provincial Infrastructure Program. If you want to help please contact our MLA, Terry Jenson, at (306) 242-2111. Let him know we need a multipurpose recreation facility in this region and ask for his support! The MCRP’s annual events and dates are: • Martensville 3 on 3 Hockey Tournament - August 29th - September 19th, 2021 • Cabaret - Saturday, November 6th, 2021 • Party on the Pond - February, 2022 • NHL Playoff Draft - April 10th, 2022 (or the first Sunday after the completion of the NHL regular season • TUFF Fun Run - 2022 Date TBA • Street Hockey Fun Day - Part of Buster Days The MCRP is working with other groups in our city to offer opportunities to raise awareness and funds for recreational facilities in the community. Additionally, the MCRP just completed a community house build on the corner of 4th Street South and MacCormack Road. This home was successfully sold, through the MLS System. Many thanks to all the businesses that worked so hard to raise the roof on this project!!!

The Affinity Credit Union grant has been instrumental in providing funds for improvements including recent purchases of chairs for the centre, a commercial dishwasher, and a 2020 commercial stove. With the Federal (CRA) grant we received in recent years we purchased an upgraded ramp, widening the steps and platform to accommodate wheelchairs or walkers, new roofing, flooring and our project for 2021/22 is to remodel and update the kitchen with new cabinets.
