Breathe in the fresh air, break out your hiking boots and visit the Chickasaw National Recreation Area. Located in Sulphur, the park is a hotspot for nature tourists looking for more than gentle streams and rustling leaves. Visitors to the Travertine Nature Center located within the park can enjoy live animal exhibits, interactive educational programs and can even sign up for night hike tours with a park ranger.
Moving from the great outdoors to opera, ballet and theater performances, visit the Goddard Center in Ardmore. Take in a stage show or head to the art gallery housing a permanent collection of more than 400 works from Oklahomans as well as artists from across the United
States, Europe and Mexico.
Are you a history buff? Visit the Chickasaw White House in Milburn. Fully restored to its former glory and featuring many original furnishings, this Victorian-style mansion on the Oklahoma prairie has been the site of notable marriages, historical meetings, births and deaths. It is best known for being the home of longstanding Chickasaw Governor, Douglas Henry Johnston, and his family for decades. Just as impressive as the home’s history are the grounds outside the mansion. Johnston’s wife, Bettie, planted prolific gardens filled with cannas, jonquils, roses, day lilies, crepe myrtle trees, trumpet vines and herbs. She used the herbs and plants to create food for the estate as well as medicinal home remedies.

After wandering through southeast Chickasaw Country, head to Spa 211 in Tishomingo to relax your body, revive your mind and renew your spirit. Enjoy invigorating massages and body treatments, med spa services and seasonal splurges that incorporate coconut, berries and even pumpkins.
