CAST BIOGRAPHIES (in alphabetical order) Sophia Albano (Kafka U/S for Words, Words, Words) Sophia is a Fifth-year student from Park Ridge, IL studying Physical Therapy. She has been seen on Marquette’s stage as Nell Shaw from John Proctor is the Villain, #11 in The Wolves, Dr. Harriman in the Spring 2021 Marquette University Players Society (MUPS) Show, Mind Games, and as an ensemble member for Comet Project through MUPS. Sophia has had many laughs and a lot of fun being a part of this show. She is so excited for everyone to have a good laugh and enjoy the show! She would like to thank her family, friends, and Marquette Theatre for their warmth, love, and support.
Olivia “Babs” Babolea (Woman #2 in Philip Glass Buys a Loaf of Bread) Olivia “Babs” Babolea is a freshman from Wilmette, Illinois. All in the Timing is their first performance with Marquette Theatre. They have been in a variety of productions throughout high school and in their local theatre community: Mudlark. They are excited about the amazing opportunity they have and can’t wait to expand their skills over the next four years. They would like to thank their friends and family.
Grayson Buesing (Milton & Swift U/S for Words, Words, Words & Waitress U/S for The Philadelphia) Grayson is a freshman from Mequon, Wisconsin, studying Theatre Arts and Journalism. All in the Timing is his first mainstage production at Marquette University and his second production overall. He was assistant stage manager for Marquette’s Second Stage production of The Servant of Two Masters. Grayson would like to thank the incredibly talented and wonderful cast and crew of All in the Timing for being so genuinely wonderful throughout the entire process, and he hopes you have a fantastic experience!
Erin Cavender (Betty U/S for Sure Thing) Erin Cavender is a sophomore Theatre Arts major and Communication Studies minor from Prospect Heights, IL. She has previously been seen on the Helfaer stage as a Porter as well as the understudy for Clarice in The Servant of Two Masters, and she also did sound design for The Importance of Being Earnest. She currently works as an Administrative Assistant at the Helfaer Theater. She would like to thank her family and friends for their continued support, and she cannot wait for everyone to see the hard work the AITT team has put into this production!
Michelle Cecchin (Betty in Sure Thing) Michelle Cecchin is a senior from Wheeling, IL who is double majoring in Marketing and Information Systems with a minor in Theatre Arts! Some of her previous credits include The Importance of Being Earnest (Cecily Cardew) and The Wolves (#2) at Marquette, as well as Pride and Prejudice (Elizabeth Bennet) and The Sound of Music (Liesl Von Trapp) in Chicago. Michelle would like to thank all her family and friends for always supporting her, as well as everyone who has taken the time to come see our show and support the arts!
Miranda Croll (Mark in The Philadelphia) Miranda is a Freshman from the Quad Cities area in Iowa, majoring in Theatre Arts. This is her first show at Marquette, but she has been Juliet in Romeo and Juliet with the Genesius Guild, Porthos in The Three Musketeers, Princess Dragomiroff in Murder on the Orient Express, and Grace in What I Did Last Summer. Miranda is thrilled to be making her Marquette onstage debut and has thoroughly enjoyed working with such a talented company. She hopes you enjoy the show as much as she has!
Brandon Engel (Milton in Words, Words, Words) Brandon is a sophomore from Milwaukee, Wisconsin, who is currently double majoring in Digital Media and Theatre Arts. His most recent Marquette onstage credit includes Carter Smith in John Proctor is the Villain. He has also participated in many other musicals and plays including The Sound of Music and Matilda. Brandon is exceedingly delighted to be a part of Marquette Theatre and has met such wonderful and talented people. He would like to thank his family and friends for their support and hopes everyone enjoys the show!
Mia Figueroa (Woman #1 in Philip Glass Buys a Loaf of Bread) Mia is a second-year pre-pharmacy major from Hainesville, Illinois, who is so excited to be back on the Marquette mainstage! Last seen as First Porter in The Servant of Two Masters, Mia has also been in Marquette Second Stage show The Wolves as Soccer Mom and capstone production John Proctor is the Villain as Beth Powell u/s, along with writing and performing as part of The Comet Project ensemble. Mia has had so much fun working on Philip Glass Buys a Loaf of Bread and hopes you have just as much fun watching it!
Leah Gerut (Ramon in Variations on the Death of Trotsky) Leah Gerut is a sophomore from Oak Park, Illinois, studying Digital Media and minoring in Spanish. You may have seen her hosting Marquette Lately on MUTV, logrolling in the pool, or doing improv on campus. This is her first show with Marquette Theatre, and she could not be more excited to be a part of this production. She’d like to thank the director and her cast for making this show what it is. She hopes you enjoy the show!
Eva Hesse (Dawn U/S for The Universal Language & The Universal Language Costume Designer) Eva Hesse (She/Her) is a freshman at Marquette University from Sartell, Minnesota. She is pursuing a double major in English Literature and Theatre Arts. In the past at Marquette, Eva acted as an understudy for #7, #8, and #13 in The Wolves for the 2022 Second Stage Series, as the understudy for Raelynn and Shelby in John Proctor is the Villain for a 2023 student capstone, and as Whitney in A Piece of My Heart for 2023 Second Stage Series. She has previously costume designed at Marquette for John Proctor is the Villain. She has also worked wardrobe for the Marquette productions of The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee and The Importance of Being Earnest. Eva would like to thank her friends and family who supported her in her theatre endeavors and beyond.
Michael Kratzer (Philip in Philip Glass Buys a Loaf of Bread) Michael is a freshman Theatre Arts major from Denver, Colorado. All in the Timing is his second mainstage production at Marquette, his first being The Servant of Two Masters when he played a Porter. Prior to his time at Marquette, he had roles in a variety of shows, including but not limited to Big Stone in Eurydice, Ben Jonson in The Book of Will, Father in The Book of Everything as well as director of The Addams Family Jr. all through the Denver School of the Arts Theatre Company. He is so grateful for the opportunity he has been given and cannot wait to spend the next four years here honing his skills.
Naomi Kriege (Kafka in Words, Words, Words & Woman #1 & #2 U/S for Philip Glass Buys a Loaf of Bread) Naomi is thrilled to be a part of the hilarity that is All in the Timing! She is a sophomore from Kansas City, MO who is majoring in Theatre Arts and minoring in Dance and Graphic Design. Some of her recent credits at Marquette include “Clarice” in The Servant of Two Masters and “Caroline” in Detroit ’67, as well as stage managing The Importance of Being Earnest. Back home, she has worked as an actor, teacher, intern, and site manager with The Heart of America Shakespeare Festival. Naomi would like to thank the whole team that brought All in the Timing to life and her family for encouraging and supporting her, always.
Patricia León de la Barra (Mrs. Trotsky in Variations on the Death of Trotsky) Patricia is a sophomore student majoring in Psychology from Caracas, Venezuela. All in the Timing happens to be the fourth Marquette production she has had the pleasure of being in. She was last seen on the Marquette stage as Beatrice Rasponi in A Servant of Two Masters. Patricia would like to thank her family back home as well as her friends and Marquette Theatre for all of their love and support. Kynkade McLachlan (Dawn in The Universal Language) Kynkade McLachlan is a sophomore from Austin, Texas. She is a Theatre Major and Gender and Sexualities Minor. You may have seen her play Sissy in A Piece of My Heart or Shelby in John Proctor is the Villain. She has had a blast putting this show together and gives so much thanks to each cast and crew member for being so amazing. She hopes that the audience has as much fun as she’s been having!
Jack McMahon (Trotsky in Variations on the Death of Trotsky) Jack is a senior from Oak Lawn, IL who is enamored to be returning to the stage for his third show at the Helfaer Theater. He is majoring in Theatre Arts with a minor in Political Science. Previous roles at Marquette include Ethan Rice in last year’s From White Plains and Sam Carmichael in Mamma Mia! Jack is also the co-president of Marquette’s best and only improv comedy troupe, the Fugees. He is feeling rather braggy while writing this and therefore encourages you to shout any of your own life accomplishments at him in the lobby after the show. He’d like to thank his friends and family for all of their continued love and support.
Draylin Pickett (Trotsky U/S for Variations on the Death of Trotsky) Draylin is a freshman from Decatur, AL, who is majoring in Theatre Arts. He has previously been seen in productions such as Mamma Mia! (Sam), Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer: The Musical (Sam the Snowman), and Clue The Musical (Professor Plum). He would like to thank God, his grandma, his brother, and his mom for their love and support. He hopes that you enjoy the show!
Matthew Read (Baker in Philip Glass Buys a Loaf of Bread) Matthew Read is ECSTATIC about having another opportunity to perform in his senior year. He has previously been seen on the Helfaer Stage in Mamma Mia!, The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, and The Importance of Being Earnest. Will Reames (Waitress in The Philadelphia) Will is a Junior at Marquette majoring in Theatre Arts and Political Science. His credits at Marquette include ensemble in Mamma Mia!, Mitch Mahoney in The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, and stage-managing Marquette’s The Servant of Two Masters. He looks forward to being a part of Marquette Theatre’s upcoming production of Sweeney Todd. Will is grateful to his family, friends, and God for all their support and love. Jay Roche (Al in The Philadelphia & Philip Glass Buys a Loaf of Bread Costume Designer) Jay Roche (they/them) is a sophomore majoring in Theatre Arts with a minor in Social Welfare and Justice. Their recent credits include America in The Amish Project, and Porter Swing for The Servant of Two Masters. This show is their first time costume designing and it has been a fun challenge for them to design and act in the same production! Jay would like to extend special thanks to their family and friends for their love and support during this process. They would also like to thank you for coming and hope you will enjoy the show!
Nate Rodriguez (Don U/S for The Universal Language) Nate Rodriguez is a sophomore majoring in Theatre Arts and Journalism from Bartlett, IL. This is his third Marquette show as an actor, most recently playing Dr. Lombardi in the Second Stage Series show, The Servant of Two Masters. Some of his recent roles include Buckley in Father of the Bride, Scrooge in A Christmas Carol, and Thénardier in Les Misérables. He has also participated in shows as a crew member, including being the assistant stage manager for Detroit ’67. He would like to thank his mom, dad, sisters, stepdad, family, and friends for supporting him, and he hopes that you enjoy the show!
Jake Samolja (Bill in Sure Thing) Jake is a Junior at Marquette University from Itasca, Illinois. He is majoring in Corporate Communication and minoring in Theatre Arts. Jake’s previous theatre experience includes Sky in Mamma Mia!, John in From White Plains, Chad in Almost, Maine, Wadsworth in Clue! and more! He is beyond excited to be a part of MU Theatre, which he says is a big and loving family that he loves spending his days with! He would like to thank his mom, dad, brother, nani, and friends who he loves to the moon and back, forever and always. He is beyond excited for you to all see All in the Timing and cannot express the love he has for the cast, crew, and director!!
Ben Shields (Swift in Words, Words, Words) Ben Shields is a freshman at Marquette University who is majoring in Theatre Arts and minoring in Digital Media. His most recent roles include Silvio in The Servant of Two Masters, as well as Lumiere in the Cheverus Drama Society’s production of Disney’s Beauty and the Beast last spring. This marks his 39th production in 14 years of acting, and he is incredibly excited to perform in the Helfaer Theater again. He is incredibly proud of all the cast and crew for making this show the best that it can be and would like to thank them for creating an environment where he can act to the fullest and truly bring Swift to life.
Gabriela Shulman (Al & Mark U/S for The Philadelphia) Gabriela has been performing in theatre since kindergarten. During high school she was Babette in Beauty and the Beast, various characters in AIM’s Cabaret, and in 13 Ways to Screw Up Your College Interview. Gabriela has been fortunate enough to participate in an immersive acting camp at SOCAPA in New York City during her sophomore summer, perform stand-up comedy at the Punch Line in Philadelphia, and complete her first college acting class at Temple University as a high school senior. She spends time outside acting/singing on her mountain bike facing her fears. She is looking forward to many more performances while she is double majoring in Theatre Arts and Biomechanical Engineering at Marquette University. Gabriela is so excited to be part of this production of All in the Timing and hopes to build something wonderful with this cast and crew. Sophia Stockhausen (Mrs. Trotsky U/S for Variations on the Death of Trotsky & Sure Thing Costume Designer) Sophia is a junior Digital Media major and Theatre Arts and Anthropology double minor from Columbus, Ohio. This is her first experience as a designer, but she’s been a costume shop assistant since her freshman year. She’s helped build costumes for previous shows, like Mamma Mia! and The Importance of Being Earnest. You might have seen her on stage before as Sherry Local in The Amish Project (MUPS), but she’s also been found in the booth as a Stage Manager as recently as A Piece of My Heart. Josh Scott Zientara (Bill U/S for Sure Thing) Joshua is a Freshman from Lake Villa, IL who is majoring in Digital Media. He has performed in 22 musicals, and this will be his 4th play. This will be his first mainstage production here at Marquette. He is extremely excited to share with you this very fun and complex show. Maaz is a lighting designer in Milwaukee, recently designing CANDIDE at Skylight Music Theatre, LAUGHS IN SPANISH at Milwaukee Chamber Theatre, and assisting various designers in various venues around town. They are slated to design THE LIGHTNING THIEF with First Stage this January. Bailee Barton (Variations on the Death of Trotsky Costume Designer & Properties Head) Bailee Barton is a freshman Digital Media major, and this is her first show with Marquette Theatre! Shannon Burke (Wardrobe Assistant & Words, Words, Words Costume Designer) Shannon (she/they) is so very excited to be designing for their first show at Marquette. She is a sophomore from St. Louis, Missouri who’s majoring in Anthropology and minoring in Theatre Arts. They have a special passion for the art of designing but also love acting in pieces. They were most recently seen in The Servant of Two Masters for Second Stage series. She has worked in tech for 6 years now and is so excited that Marquette is letting her pursue designing and acting. As written in Hamlet, “Apparel oft proclaims the man”! Ryan Cappleman (Philip Glass Buys a Loaf of Bread Director) Ryan Cappleman is thrilled to return to Marquette after Music Directing Spelling Bee and Mamma Mia! The faculty and students here are some of the kindest, most giving people in the industry. Watching and learning from everyone else’s work in this very unique and intelligent piece of theater has been a great joy. Ryan is a quadruple threat (performer, music director, teaching artist, and soon to be retiring choreographer) based in Milwaukee. Favorite roles include Woof (Hair), Scarecrow (Oz), Pooh-Bah (The Hot Mikado) at Skylight, the Piano Player (Billy Bishop Goes to War), Britton (La La Lucille), Company (Tom Foolery) at Third Avenue Playworks, and Jake (Waiting a Song Cycle) Off Broadway at the Cherry Lane Theater in NYC. Ryan most recently music directed Guys on Ice and Guys and Does up at Northern Sky Theater in Door County and will be on the ice again this January at the Milwaukee Rep. He is on faculty at UW Parkside (where he has worked on productions of Cinderella, Indecent, Spring Awakening, and Burn: A Folk Musical). He will be hanging up his choreographer hat this spring following Forte Theater’s Hello Dolly. He has earned 3 Footlights Awards and numerous Jerry Awards for his choreography. Iris DeWeerdt (The Universal Language & Philip Glass Buys a Loaf of Bread Assistant Stage Manager & Young Man in The Universal Language) Iris is a freshman majoring in Theatre Arts. This is her first production at Marquette, but some of her favorite shows she’s done are The Sound of Music and Radium Girls at South Milwaukee High School. She is so happy she is getting the chance to work with everyone. She would like to thank her friends and family who have supported her along with everyone in the audience who has come to see the show! Jake Horstmeier (Sure Thing Director) Jake has had a blast directing Sure Thing as part of Marquette’s production of All in the Timing. As an actor/singer/songwriter, Jake has worked in New York City, regional theatre, independent film, and new media. He currently teaches Voice and Movement at Marquette. Recent Milwaukee acting credits include Freddie Fellowes in Noises Off and Bill Austin in Mamma Mia! At Skylight Music Theatre. You can see him back on the Skylight stage until the end of December playing Ned Schneebly in School of Rock. As a singer/songwriter he performs under the moniker Dacada Summer. He received his MFA in acting from Purdue University. He sends love and gratitude to Kate and Roman. Ethan Jacoby-Henrickson (Sound Designer) Ethan is a Senior from Combined Locks, WI and is excited to be designing for this Mainstage production at Marquette. He is a double major in Theatre Arts and Digital Media. Previous experiences at Marquette include Sound Operator for Silent Sky, Merriman in The Importance of Being Earnest, and Pantalone Dei Bisognosi in The Servant of Two Masters. Outside of theater, he is the E-board Treasurer of the MU Log-rolling Club and member of the Christian Motorcyclists Association. He would like to thank his family for their continued support, as well as the directors and the producer. Kelsie Kasky (Stage Manager) Kelsie is a Senior from Shorewood, IL who is triple majoring in Secondary Education, “Johncleese”, and Theatre Arts and minoring in Dance. Her most recent Marquette onstage credits include Martha from A Piece of my Heart, Raelynn from John Proctor is the Villain, and #46 in The Wolves. Kelsie is honored to be a Production Stage Manager for this silly crazy show! Kelsie is very thankful to the entire team for making this happen. David Krajec (Lighting Designer) David is pleased to return to the Marquette stage. It is an opportunity that is welcome and he hopes serves the Marquette students. David was the scenic and lighting designer for the Theatre Arts department at Cardinal Stritch University for nearly 20 years. After which, he became a system sales specialist and later project manager for MainStage Theatrical Supply, Inc. He has been the scenic and lighting designer for a number of professional productions over the years at different theatres (in Tandem Theatre and Milwaukee Chamber Theatre to name but two). David would like to thank his wife (who is a breast cancer survivor) for her love and support through these difficult times. Debra Krajec (Associate Professor & Artistic Director) Debra serves as a faculty member, a Stage Director, and a Costume Designer at Marquette. She received her MFA from Texas Christian University and has worked professionally as a costume designer, a director, and an actor. She directed A Piece of My Heart for Marquette Theatre’s Second Stage series in October. Deb has been part of the Marquette Theatre Department for 40 years and has loved every minute of her time here. She will retire this May and is treasuring her last year here. She would like to express her gratitude to our audience members for supporting live Theatre at Marquette and the work of our aspiring young artists. Stephen Hudson-Mairet (Professor & Scenic Designer) This season marks Stephen’s 24th at Marquette, and he is happy to share the good work of our students with you. Thank you so much for your support of Marquette Theatre and Marquette’s theatre arts students. Thank you for your support of the arts across our community – live performances help keep Milwaukee and Marquette amazing places to live and work. Thank you to the many directors for All in the Timing, this has been a joy to work on. Stephen wants to especially thank our great faculty, staff, and student body for their artistry in carefully putting this show together. Stephen lives quite happily in a very old house in Wauwatosa with his wife Heidi. Michael Mingus (The Philadelphia Costume Designer) Michael hails from New Albany, Indiana. He is a sophomore Theatre Arts major, and he is minoring in Dance. He is very grateful to be a part of this wonderful cast. Some notable previous roles include Lane in The Importance of Being Earnest, Man in A Piece of My Heart, and Harold Hill in The Music Man. Michael would like to thank Amelia, Connie, and Deb for helping him along his new and exciting venture. He wishes for this wonderful cast, crew, and team to BREAK ALL THE LEGS!!
Natalie Murray (Words, Words, Words Director) Natalie Murray (she/her) is beyond excited to make her directorial debut on Marquette’s mainstage! She was last seen on stage as Smeraldina in The Servant of Two Masters, and her most recent directing credit was as Assistant Director under Isabelle Andress for John Proctor is the Villain. As a studier of multiple disciplines, she is continuously delighted by the constant overlap of life and genres, and she hopes you can find joy in it as well. Caroline Norton (The Universal Language Director) Caroline Norton (She/Her) is excited to be back at Marquette University – this time in the director’s chair! Caroline graduated from MU back in 2020 and has been running in the Milwaukee theatre scene ever since. She has worked with Chamber Theatre, Skylight Music Theatre, First Stage, Summit Players Theatre, Sunstone Studios, Voices Found Repertory, and Forte Theatre Company. Directing credits include: THE RIVALS (Marquette, Asst. Dir.), JULIUS CAESAR (First Stage Academy, Asst. Dir.), A MIDSUMMER NIGHTS DREAM (First Stage Academy), MORNING ANNOUNCEMENTS (Milwaukee Chamber Theatre Young Playwright’s Festival) and GIDION’S KNOT (Sunstone Studios). Caroline is the Administrative and Artistic Manager at Next Act Theatre and the Director of Education at Summit Players Theatre. When she is not working on a show, Caroline can be found reading, camping, or running her small business Millennial Granny. Love always to A.J. and Boomer. Margaret Pabst (Words, Words, Words & The Philadelphia Assistant Stage Manager) Margaret Pabst is a freshman majoring in Digital Media and Advertising from Western Springs, IL. This is her first show with Marquette Theatre, and she can’t wait for many more! She would like to thank the BFG program for introducing her to stage crew and her friends for always supporting her. She hopes you enjoy the show! Connie L. Petersen (Costume Designer & Costume Shop Manager) Connie is excited to return to her 22nd season at Marquette with such energetic new freshmen and seasoned upperclassmen. She received her B.S. degree in theatre from Northwest Missouri State University and M.F.A. degree in Costume and Scenic Design from Southern Illinois University in Carbondale, IL. She has worked professionally for Door Shakespeare, Central City Opera, Des Moines Metro Opera, Denver Center Theatre Company, and Playmakers Repertory Company at University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill. Connie spends her free time with her two daughters, Emma and Olivia, who are quite busy around Brookfield. Connie was recently elected to serve as a member of the Board of Directors with the Elmbrook Education Foundation.
Joshua Soape (Variations on the Death of Trotsky Director) Joshua is so incredibly excited to make his directing debut on Marquette’s stage. After two and a half years acting at Marquette, he is grateful for the opportunity to explore other lanes of his creativity. He hopes to go on to act and direct on film and tv as he gets more experience in his craft. He was previously seen on the stage as Florindo in The Servant of Two Masters and Lucentio in The Taming of the Shrew. Backstage, he has light designed multiple shows, most recently A Piece of My Heart. He hopes you enjoy a lovely night of live theatre and appreciates you supporting the arts.
