MSSC CONDUCTS PRE-PHYSICAL FITNESS TEST TODAY

No excuses were spared as personnel of the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG’s) Maritime Safety Services Command (MSSC) underwent their Pre-Physical Fitness Test (Pre-PFT) early this morning, 09 February 2023 aboard Headquarters MSSC.

The Coast Guard Special Operation Force (CGSOF) personnel assigned in Cavite Buoy Base enthusiastically led this morning’s calisthenics as they supervised the proper performance of warm-up and major exercises.

Personnel were then segregated into platoons according to their age as the Command’s Special Service Office (SSO) and Cavite Buoy Base Medical Clinic facilitated said activity.

During the activity, the personnel were assessed of their endurance, speed, strength and flexibility as they performed the 3.2 kilometers run, push-ups, sit-ups and sit and reach.

The pre-PFT aims to set the baseline for improvement and monitor the personnel’s fitness level in preparation for the conduct of the first quarter PFT this March and the upcoming Field Training Exercise (FTX) in Ternate, Cavite in May.

Immediately after, personnel lined up to have their weekly weigh-in to adhere with the Commander’s guidance of strictly implementing the Body Mass Index (BMI) policy.

This is the message of Coast Guard Vice Admiral (CG VADM) Joseph Coyme, the Commander of Maritime Safety Services Command (MSSC) after the conduct of the first quarter Physical Fitness Test (PFT) of the Command held earlier today, 28 March 2023 aboard Headquarters MSSC, Naval Base

To ensure healthy lifestyle among MSSC personnel, CG VADM Coyme has strictly imposed the Body Mass Index (BMI) Policy and the conduct of the regular quarterly PFT. Personnel who cannot meet the standards will be denied of privileges such as passes, Rest and Recreation (RNR), trainings & reenlistment.

These complimenting policies will ensure to keep the workforce physically fit at all times and always ready to respond to any situation which the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) may demand from them.

PURPLE IN ACTION: MSSC CELEBRATES WOMEN’S MONTH 2023

As part of the month-long celebration of the 2023 National Women’s Month with the theme, “We for gender equality and inclusive society”, the Maritime Safety Services Command (MSSC) held a symposium on 24 March 2023 aboard Headquarters MSSC, Naval Base Heracleo Alano, Sangley Point, Cavite City.

Two empowered women who were experts in their field were invited to conduct lectures to the 40 female personnel of MSSC and to the students of Bucal National Integrated School who are undergoing immersion program with the Command.

Coast Guard Commander (CG CDR) Mary Liezl Barbero, a lawyer by profession and the Officer-in-Charge of MSSC Legal Unit discussed the Gender and Development (GAD) and other related matters.

Moreover, the President of Phili- ppine Nurses Association Cavite Chapter, Nenita Panaligan, RN, MAN, PhDc also visited the Command purposely to discuss Gender Equality and Promoting Positive Work Environment to the attendees of the symposium. She was received by Coast Guard Captain (CG CAPT) Ramil Palabrica, CG CAPT Glyde Gene Mary Sontillanosa, CG CAPT May Marfil and Officers from Cavite Buoy Base (CBB) Medical Clinic and Nursing Service CBB).

During the month-long commemoration, female personnel of the Command took the lead in every Monday morning colors and observed Purple Wednesdays in celebration of the Women’s Month.

“Purple symbolizes power, strength and transformation. Women are just like purple color. They are beautiful and highly dominant. They have the power to build, nurture and transform.”

A Zumba fitness workout on 21 March 2023 for all MSSC personnel aboard HMSSC capped the month long celebration.

MSSC CELEBRATES INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY BY DONATING 34 BAGS OF BLOOD TO GEAM HOSPITAL

LOOK: In the spirit of volunteerism and in celebration of International Women’s Day, the Maritime Safety Services Command (MSSC) held a bloodletting activity yesterday, 08 March 2023 aboard Headquarters MSSC Function Hall.

A total of 34 bags were collected as MSSC personnel gives back in recognition of all women from the different walks of life.

This initiative is in partnership with General Emilio Aguinaldo Memorial Hospital, Medical Clinic Cavite Buoy Base (MEDC-CBB) and Nursing Service Sub-Unit CBB.
