HIGHER EDUCATION

Marmon Mok has worked with more than two dozen higher education clients across Texas. This work has encompassed over 50 projects, including feasibility studies, programming, master planning, new construction, and renovations. Our portfolio of projects vary in size from campus master plan updates and president’s office renovations to student recreation centers, residence halls, and medical education projects. We offer designs that result in thoughtful organization of space, adherence to strategic planning, change management, and sustainable design. Our designs yield spaces that are effective in fostering a cooperative, collaborative, and connected campus community for students, faculty, staff, and stakeholders.

SERVICES

ARCHITECTURE

We expand expectations. Architecture is an opportunity to improve people’s lives in both tangible and emotional ways that are often not anticipated in the beginning of a project. These unexpected opportunities enrich our work and amplify a project’s potential.

MASTER PLANNING

Combining the technical knowledge of data gathering and analysis for predicted campus growth with an artistic vision of defining campus space and organization is the approach that Marmon Mok’s team brings to every campus planning project. We generate creative, new directions and apply them to the revision of campus districts, new building initiatives, and rebranding efforts.

INTERIOR DESIGN + FF&E

Interior Design completes architecture. It adds beauty and function to the places where people live, work, and play every day. Our interior design creates the spaces that lift our spirits and improve our lives, no matter the project’s size or budget.

SUSTAINABILITY + WELLNESS

Sustainability and wellness go hand in hand. Prioritizing environmental stewardship and promoting wellness is crucial for our client’s well-being today and for future generations. Our design philosophy prioritizes sustainability from the beginning of each project. We aim to create visually appealing environments through thoughtful land use, mindful material selection, and responsible resource management.

DISCOVER

Every project is an exciting journey that allows us to delve deep into the vision, goals, constraints, and other factors that ultimately shape a building. We take pride in creating a uniquely tailored solution for our clients, leveraging every resource at our disposal to deliver the best possible outcome.

DESIGN

Design is a way of thinking. We believe that every place should elevate the spirit of every person. Focusing on the user experience to craft great places where people want to work, learn, play, and heal. Our team’s focused and skillful problem-solving helps us deliver the best solutions for each project and leads our clients where they want to go.

DONE

The resulting building is the physical manifestation of the careful and thoughtful consideration applied through discovery and design.

“From the beginning, we were impressed with the organization, responsiveness, and follow-through of Marmon Mok’s team. They listened and worked well with our Student and Residence Life departments and with our Facilities team. We also appreciated their thoughtful planning and mindfulness of budget and scope.”

RENDERINGS & VISUALIZATION

We use renderings to give our clients an accurate view of the completed space. The client can visualize the finished design and easily make alterations before anything has been constructed. This is also a great tool for the owner to market to potential donors for fundraising.

VIRTUAL REALITY

We are exploring new ways to help clients interact with their space during the design phase. Our visualization team can immerse you in your future space for you to walk around and experience the design first hand.

ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE

Marmon Mok leverages the prowess of Artificial Intelligence within its communication tools to elevate architectural innovation. By harnessing AIdriven algorithms, our tools refine project data into actionable insights, facilitating dynamic exchanges between our teams and clients, ultimately fostering a smarter, more intuitive design process.

AUGMENTED REALITY

AR gives you the ability to see an architectural hologram mixed with the environment. The lens adds a layer of digital 3d models to its real surroundings. Allowing the viewer to stay connected to its surroundings while seeing the virtual model.

RESIDENCE HALLS

MARTIN HALL RENOVATION

BAYLOR UNIVERSITY | WACO, TX

In partnership with Whiting-Turner, Marmon Mok completed a comprehensive design-build renovation of the 60,000 SF Martin Men’s Residence Hall at Baylor University. Originally built in 1954, the 4-story building now houses 265 students within 132 rooms. The project is comprised of extensive finish updates, including full abatement, select demolition of interiors for new program space, and an overhaul of building mechanical, electrical, and plumbing services.

UNIVERSITY OF THE INCARNATE WORD | SAN ANTONIO, TX

Marmon Mok was asked to provide design services by the university’s longtime campus architects McChesney/Bianco in order to meet UIW’s fast track schedule. The new 167-bed residence hall’s design is a reflection of the core values of the Sisters of Charity of the Incarnate Word who established the University in 1881, and which esteems service to others through a foundation of faith. Located on a very tight site, the project had an aggressive design and construction schedule of 12 months.
