Marlborough is home to the Bragato Research Institute, the national research centre for the Wine & Viticulture industry which brings world-leading science projects to the region, as well as the New Zealand Wine Centre, home to Plant & Food and are building in partnership the vineyard of the future.

COMPANIES LEADING THE WAY : Sanford Bioactives have just opened their Marine Innovation Centre for further developments for nutraceuticals, unlock the power-food from their musseland fisheries products including fish-skin collagen and seaweed processing. Furthermore Puro, innovators and growers of organic medicinal cannabis are growing their farms and labs around Marlborough leading the way in New Zealand for new sectors and medicinal products from the land.

Marlborough also supports other industries like the Marlborough's aviation industry, based around the Marlborough Airport and the RNZAF Air Force base at Woodbourne. NATURE CRUISE TO MOTUARA ISLAND

Make your way to Picton and embark on a nature cruise to the bird sanctuary Motuara Island, one of four uninhabited wildlife reserve islands in the Queen Charlotte Sound. Look out for dolphins, seals, orca and the rare King Shag along the way.

OMAKA AVIATION HERITAGE CENTRE

Nestled amongst vineyards and an operating airfield, the Omaka Aviation Heritage Centre is easily accessible, within an eight minutes’ drive to Marlborough Airport and the Blenheim town centre. The allweather venue showcases two rare collections of aircraft, combined with creative displays and mannequins by Wētā Workshop to present two remarkable, immersive experiences.

The first exhibition space known as the Knights of the Sky features film director, of The Hobbit and Lord of the Ring’s fame, Sir Peter Jackson’s Great War aviation collection.
