CHAIRMAN’S WELCOME I extend a warm welcome to you all. Thank you for supporting our latest production “Mad About Musicals” featuring a wide range of songs from old and new shows, and movies. You may not know them all but there is plenty for every taste. This is Joanne Meredith’s first time directing and she has been brimful of new ideas with different slants on old favourites. The cast are very excited at the new concepts and I hope you enjoy them all. I would like to thank all those who support the cast, working backstage, our front of house team, those who provide refreshments and produce the programme and advertising, help with costumes, props, musicians, patrons, sponsors and our hard working committee. It always amazes me how many people it takes to produce such a show but thanks to them, it all comes together magically during show week. I don’t know what we’d do without you all. The cast, directed by Joanne, musically by Lee Tesdale and choreographed by Tracey Dean have worked tirelessly over many months to bring this to fruition and they deserve the highest praise. I am also pleased to announce that our last Autumn show, Harper Valley directed by Sally Thompson received two nominations by NODA for Best Musical and for technical innovations. Our last show, Half a Sixpence directed by Corinne-anne Richards has been nominated for the Rose Bowl Award for Best Musical. The winner is yet to be announced. An awards ceremony will take place on 17th October so at the time of writing this, we do not know the outcome. All of us who took part in those shows are of course proud of our achievements, whatever the result.

JOANNE MEREDITH DIRECTOR

At age 11, Joanne won first place singing in her first Eisteddfod back home in Swansea. From there, she was bitten by the music bug and has been performing ever since. After gaining a distinction in Voice, Speech and Singing at Filton College, Joanne joined KLOG in 1999 for ‘My Fair Lady’, going on to play the leading roles of ‘Charity’ in ‘Sweet Charity’ and ‘Kate’ in ‘Kiss me Kate’, as well as solo performances in various Autumn shows over the last 10 years. Looking for a new challenge,

Joanne set about compiling a musical extravaganza that both cast and audiences would love - ‘Mad about Musicals’. Joanne would like to say thank you to the cast for their hard work, dedication and support. A show of this kind requires not only a stellar cast but a wonderful team of people to support the director. Joanne would like to say thank you to Tracey, Lee, Maureen, Pat and Corinne for their support, guidance and hard work over the last six months, and to her wonderful husband Neil and her children, Toby and Caitlin for allowing her the time to achieve this lifelong ambition to direct a musical.

LEE TESDALE

TRACEY DEAN

Lee started piano lessons aged 7 and has picked up many musical instruments along the way. At 16 he went on to be classically trained. During school life he played for county orchestras and for HTV’s ‘A Christmas Carol’ in 2007. Lee joined KLOG in 2003 as rehearsal pianist for ‘The Bare Necessities of Disney’ and carried on this role until last October when he took over as MD. Lee would like to wish everyone good luck for ‘Mad About Musicals’.

Tracey’s Grandfather joined KLOG in 1979 as Stage Manager. Over the years other family members have helped out back stage, which her father Tony still does today. Tracey started dancing at Keyford Dancing School, aged 3. Dancing is what she enjoys most and she usually tries to stay away from speaking parts! She first choreographed a dance in Corinne’s show ‘Back to Broadway’ in 2001. She has been in, or helped choreograph, the last 25 shows.
