movie ‘How To Train your Dragon’. Why Mark needs or wants dragons in his car may take a while to tease out of him.

When Mark asks me to dinner I feel almost compelled to agree. I am not doing anything else, and I am a terrible cook. I mostly eat readyto-eat dinners from Foodbox.

So we get an early supper together right after dialysis, and he says he plans to have a second meal when his wife gets home at 8:00 or so. Some people who have a failed kidney or liver burn a lot of calories just to stay alive, so Mark must be part of that group. When he weighs in at dialysis, his ‘wet weight’ (before dialysis) sound pretty low. From all appearances he is definitely not retaining fluids, so he must have some amount of kidney function. I wonder why his dialysis session is so long if that is the case?

“There is a bill ‘2022-114’ that would be very bad for Amasa” Dr. A. says in her office. We always meet in person. It is much less tiring for me than the concentration I need during a zoom call. Telephones are even worse: I should be able to vocalize, but I have lost the coordination between my lungs and vocal cords. The slight telepathy (or whatever it is) with visual contact is a crutch that helps me a lot.

“OK. That is unfortunate. And… ?”

“We would like you to help kill it. Nancy is a proponent and major influencer in the state senate. We would like you to convince her to consider, or should I say reconsider, her support of the bill. If she changed her opinion about that bill, certain people you know would be very pleased.”
