The team at Elite Supplements have selected the three best supplements for restarting your health & fitness regime.

Emerald Whey 100% Whey Protein

Protein is an essential macronutrient that allows the body to repair damage, produce feel-good chemicals in the brain and help regulate hunger. The most popular protein powder is the Emerald Labs 100% Whey Protein; it’s the best option for a delicious flavour and has added glutamine for gut health!

Emerald Labs Micronized Creatine Monohydrate

Creatine is stored in the muscle, liver and brain and is essential for the health and function of those organs and can be supplemented to dramatically increase levels in the body. The benefits include faster muscle recovery, increased strength and muscle mass, reduced fatigue from exercise, and various other cognitive and health benefits!

A pre-workout tailored to your goals

Pre-workout is a great option to help you get back into your routine. Pre-workout helps to increase mood, focus and gives you the energy to push yourself through a workout. Pre-workouts can also help with recovery through increased blood flow and muscular hydration so that you can recover better before your next training session.

To find out what pre-workout is best for your goals, visit Elite Supplements, and one of their friendly staff will be more than happy to assist you!

4 Fitness Tips to keep active through the holidays

With the end of the year fast approaching, work commitments start to slow down, and social commitments begin to ramp up.

It’s the most wonderful time of the year, but it’s also the busiest and arguably the most stressful time, juggling Christmas parties, lost sleep and lots of treats, making it easier than ever for our health and fitness to fall to the wayside.

If you’re looking for some motivation to stay on track, Studio Pilates Gungahlin owner and qualified physiotherapist Tammy-Jo Hunter has 4 fitness tips to help you stay active through the holidays.

1. Prioritise sleep

From after-work drinks, holiday parties and an endless stream of Christmas catch-ups, sleep can often take a back seat during the holiday period, but lack of sleep can be quite detrimental to our health and fitness. Not only is a late night more likely to make you snooze through your morning pilates class, but lack of sleep can also slow down digestion, increase cravings for energy-dense foods and negatively impact your body’s hunger hormones making it near impossible to feel satisfied. These social activities are an important and joyful part of the season, so try and ensure you’re still clocking at least 7-9 hours of good quality sleep every night.

2. Use fitness apps

Christmas also means many of us take the opportunity for a much-needed vacation. Heading away for a week or two means our routines will likely change, and getting to a pilates studio or a gym for a daily exercise class might not be achievable. Thanks to our smartphones, there are still plenty of ways we can keep our bodies moving. Studio Pilates+ is an app designed to complement your reformer workouts when you can’t make it into the studio. Access over 130+ workouts, including Pilates, HIIT circuits, active recovery sessions, and much more!

3. Increase your step count

While we should all be aiming to get as many steps in as we can each day, this can be particularly useful through the holiday season. Even if you don’t have time to go for a long walk, little changes in your habits can make a huge difference to your overall step count. Try walking somewhere you’d usually drive, head out for a midday stroll instead of eating lunch at your desk or ditch the car and opt for public transport, which are all simple ways to be more active.

4. Remove the guilt.

Above all else, remember that Christmas only comes around once a year, so enjoy the season and remove any guilt you may have about the change to your routine.

1. Revlon Kiss Glow Lip Oil

These lip oils give a lovely sheen to the lips without the stickiness of gloss. A great way to wear a sheer tint of colour, plus it’s hydrating on the lips! Very addictive.

2. L’Oreal Glow Mon Amour Highlighting Drops

A gorgeous subtle glow that stays put in the warmer months. An amazing formula that can be used under or over foundation or powder - I reccomend using on the high points of the face or body.

3. Milani Cheek Kiss Liquid Blush

I’m obsessed with these liquid blushes. Easy to blend, and a little goes a long way. They work beautifully under the L’Oreal Highlighting Drops or the Revlon Kiss Glow Lip Oil. Think of them as a pigment in your makeup kit and experiment!

4. La Roche Posay Anthelios Invisible Fluid SPF 50+

The sunscreen for people who don’t love wearing sunscreen; this has been a staple in my personal kit for years. A lovely lightweight sunscreen that sits beautifully underneath makeup.

5. Real Techniques Setting Brush

One of my go-to brushes. I love this brush for all complexion work. Perfect for sheer application of foundation, concealer, cream cheek colour and cream highlighters. Great also for your powder products.

Holiday reads: Books to enjoy over summer

The self-proclaimed book-worms at Bookface Gungahlin have put together the ultimate holiday reading list for you to enjoy this summer.

The Bullet That Missed - Richard Osman

The third book in the record-breaking Thursday Murder Club series from British national treasure Richard Osman. It is an ordinary Thursday and things should finally be returning to normal. Except trouble is never far away where the Thursday Murder Club are concerned. A decade-old cold case leads them to a local news legend and a murder with no body and no answers. Then a new foe pays Elizabeth a visit. Her mission? Kill. . . or be killed. As the cold case turns white hot, Elizabeth wrestles with her conscience (and a gun), while Joyce, Ron and Ibrahim chase down clues with help from old friends and new. But can the gang solve the mystery and save Elizabeth before the murderer strikes again?

Lessons - Ian McEwan

From the best-selling author of Atonement and Saturday comes the epic and intimate story of one man’s life across generations and historical upheavals: from the Suez Crisis to the Cuban Missile Crisis, the fall of the Berlin Wall to the current pandemic, Roland Baines sometimes rides with the tide of history, but more often struggles against it.

Different Not Less - Chloe Hayden

An empowering lived-experience guide to celebrating and supporting neurodivergence from 24-year-old actor, social media star and disability advocate Chloe Hayden. Growing up, Chloe Hayden felt like she’d crash-landed on an alien planet where nothing made sense. Eye contact? Small talk? And why are you people so touch-oriented? She moved between 10 schools in 8 years, struggling to become a person she believed society would accept, and was eventually diagnosed with autism and ADHD. When a life-changing group of allies showed her that different did not mean less, she learned to celebrate her true voice and find her happily ever after.

The Ninth Life of a Diamond Miner - Grace Tame

Grace Tame has never walked on middle ground. From a young age, her life was defined by uncertainty - by trauma and strength, sadness and hope, terrible lows and wondrous highs. As a teenager she found the courage to speak up after experiencing awful and ongoing child sexual abuse. This fight to find her voice would not be her last. The Ninth Life of a Diamond Miner is Grace’s story, in Grace’s words, on Grace’s terms. Like Grace, it is sharply intelligent, deeply felt and often blisteringly funny. And, as with all her work, it offers a constructive and optimistic vision for a better future for all of us.

The Tilt - Chris Hammer

The latest stunning thriller from the bestselling author of Scrublands and Treasure & Dirt. A man runs for his life in a forest. A woman plans sabotage. A body is unearthed. Newlyminted homicide detective Nell Buchanan returns to her home town, annoyed at being assigned a decades-old murder - a ‘file and forget’. But this is no ordinary cold case, as the discovery of more bodies triggers a chain of escalating events in the present day. The nearer Nell comes to uncovering the secrets of the past, the more dangerous the present becomes for her, as she battles shadowy assailants and sinister forces. Can she survive this harrowing investigation and what price will she have to pay for the truth?
