Purpose
The Hospital Pilot commenced early March 2025, the purpose of this was to work alongside the medical staff to identify vulnerable families who would benefit from introducing measures to improve the quality of their home and life. This was typically a young person identified through the hospital as having a qualifying respiratory condition
The campaign was launched, and leaflets were printed in multiple languages including Arabic, Bengali, English, Romanian, Somalian, and Urdu to ensure we were able to truly access the Birmingham Community. Multiple meetings were held with medical representatives to educate on the value of the opportunity
From a medical route customers could benefit through ECO4 but were also assessed through GBIS
City visited multiple surgeries to leaflet drop and engage with Staff and attended Birmingham Children’s Hospital.
Successes to Date:
We have engaged well with the community
We have supported in improving the communities understanding of what additional benefits that are available to them
City and Birmingham CC have built strong relationships together alongside the university of Birmingham
The QR code is live, and we are ready to receive leads City have approved covering the cost of the Switchee install as part of their CSR commitments
The Switchee devises have been delivered, and the engineers are ready to go
We have process mapped the end-to-end process to ensure the right level of engagement with the customer.
Challenges to Date:
Lack of customer engagement following our time on site
The Children’s Hospital lacked engagement from the medical team, who were evidently already stretched and were reluctant to promote the referral
Without any installs the university have a lack of data evidencing the before and after.
Next steps:
Greater engagement from consultants and nursing staff
Broader scope to the pilot to include adults
Access to Birmingham Asthma and respiratory clinics
