Help with Childcare

Course fees are listed against each course and you can pay using the following methods:

Students aged 16–20 on the 5 September 2016 who care for their own child(ren) can claim for childcare and travel costs to and from their childcare provider.

They can claim up to £160 per week and applications are made through www.gov.uk/care-to-learn or 0800 121 8989. Please note the childcare provider must be OFSTED registered.

NEW Advanced Learning Loans – No upfront fees!

If you’re 19+ you can apply for an Advanced Learning Loan to fund eligible courses from Level 3 to Level 6. The loan will cover tuition fees so you won’t have to pay anything upfront. You also won’t start paying it back until after the course is completed and you earn £21,000+ a year.

More Level 3 & 4 courses may be available for 19+ Advanced Learning Loans, contact us for more information.

Additional Funding The Discretionary Learner Support Fund helps students from low income families with expenses incurred when studying and the College Hardship Fund also provides funding to students whose household income is below £30,000.

ACCESS TO HIGHER EDUCATION PROGRAMMES These one year courses prepare adult learners who want to study at degree level but do not have the qualifications to apply. They are specifically designed to give you the foundation skills and knowledge to go on and study a degree.

Advanced Learning Loan – this course is eligible for a tuition fee loan - if you then go on to complete a full degree your loan for the Access course will be written off.

QUALIFICATIONS EXPLAINED

Certificates Many of our part-time courses lead to qualifications recognised by industry bodies such as City & Guilds. Employers may need you to have these certificates to recognise your ability to do the job.

Level 2 Equivalent to GCSE level study. These courses provide you with skills to do the job.

Completing an Apprenticeship programme will earn you a Level 2 qualification.

Level 3 Equivalent to A Level study. This level is suited to supervisory grades of employment and is the required entry level to university. An Advanced Apprenticeship will include a Level 3 qualification. Some of these programmes may be eligible for 19+ Advanced Learning Loans.

Level 4 Level 4 qualifications are the first level of a degree and are also the level for many professionally accredited programmes. These indicate advanced level skill and knowledge. Some of these programmes may be eligible for 19+ Advanced Learning Loans.
