LOUGHBOROUGH STUDENTS HOT CONTEST AGAINST CHESTER

In the 7th round of National League 2 North Loughborough Students faced off against Chester. Straight from the off you could see the ball skipped from half to half with each side testing one another. Walsh laid on some wellplaced kicks, keeping the play in Chester’s half. Loughborough’s pack laid continuous pressure on Chester’s try line, leading to Scharink opening the score board in the 4th minute, which was converted by Heard.

Chester’s forwards were strong and formidable, which meant they dominated most scrums and rolling mauls. Loughborough backs were able to overcome this though leading to Heard scoring on the 16th and 18th minute respectively. The away side were able to capitalise on some of Loughborough’s mistakes, scoring three times later in the half. Loughborough’s Parkes then scored on the 37th minute, giving the home side a one try lead going into the second half.

Going into the next half Loughborough initially claimed control, pressing from the off, and remaining squarely within Chester’s half. O’Learly-Blade ended a fantastic set of phases and broke through the line, scoring in the 57th Minute. Loughborough continued to capitalise on their momentum as Shine rampaged past the away side’s pack, widening the lead.

Chester did fight back after each restart, driving the Students back, but even with an additional try being scored by Wilkinson, the away side had little chance to narrow the score. This led to a welldeserved Loughborough Students victory at home.
