In this, the first edition of Roof Link for 2021, we have plenty of valuable articles on offer for you to consolidate learnings, resilience and innovation gains made in our roofing community through 2020. If both the CEO of RANZ and the CEO of Master Builders are talking about it, you know it’s worthwhile tuning in – check out pages 28-29 for a deep-dive look into communications and the valuable business wins that are readily accessible to us by investing a little time to reflect and fine-tune our approaches to communicating. We have a technical article from Rod Newbold, which doubles down on guidance we gave in the previous issue of Roof Link around dealing with flat-pitched or low-pitched roofs (p24); then a ‘change of tack’ for a second article from Rod, in which he recounts an enviable ‘trip of a lifetime’, sailing around stunning Fiordland with a crew of good roofing friends (p27). This article highlights how lucky we are in Aotearoa New Zealand, in so many ways. Roof reporting may seem like an attractive addition to your roofing service options at first glance, but it is crucial to weigh up the liability you’re taking on to truly assess
whether it is worth it. Read what our legal expert has to say on the matter (p23). Also in this issue of Roof Link, we get to admire the beautiful work of one of our many multi-award-winning members, Architectural Metalformers (p13-15), and the valuable contribution to an essential bus station of new members Metalhartt (p20 -21), not to mention the fine work of Turfrey Group in the stunning transformation of a ‘carpark to a campus’ – our cover story on page 8.
