World Book Day 2022 This year celebrated 25 years of World Book Day and it’s been a wonderful #WorldBookDay here at Hymers in both the Junior and Senior School.
Wednesday saw this week’s motion in the Junior debate, ‘This house would rather give up Netflix for life, than give up books for life’.
We started the week with the awardwinning author, Darren Simpson visiting the Junior and Senior School. An entertaining and engaging visit, where students thoroughly enjoyed learning about the background to both Scavengers and The Memory Thieves, meeting the characters and Darren’s view on the importance to writing a book.
Congratulations to Alice X and Amy H who secured a win for the proposition.
During lunchtime, an Inter-house World Book Day was held in Gore with an easy win by Brandesburton.
World Book Day started with a wonderful assembly led by Year 7 Library Ambassadors talking about the magical world of books. In the Junior School a fantastic Book Fair was held with a wide range books for the students to choose from. Over £1,000 pounds was raised!
Junior School Library Donation Drive The HCA have been overwhelmed by the support shown following their request for book donations for the Hymers Junior School Library. A fantastic collection of books were very kindly donated.
