Family Service League (FSL), a leading Long Island based non-profit human service organization, is pleased to share that it has taken a significant and innovative step in addressing the gap Long Islanders experience between primary medical care and behavioral health integration. Behavioral health care consists of a spectrum of mental health and/or substance abuse treatment services. FSL has successfully created a way for primary care practices to connect patients with needed behavioral healthcare services. By leveraging FSL’s 24/7/365 Diagnostic, Assessment and Stabilization Hub (DASH) program, medical practices in Suffolk County now have access to an automated, user-friendly referral pathway which provides a direct means to make timely connections for their patients seeking behavioral health services. This streamlining will ultimately lead to better overall care for patients and their families.

The Montauk Point

Lighthouse will expand the scope of its tower restoration project thanks to an outpouring of donations and grants, which has exceeded initial fundraising goals. “We have been overwhelmed by the support of businesses and individuals in the community — and beyond,” said Nick Racanelli, Board Member of the Montauk Historical Society (MHS), the nonprofit organization that owns the lighthouse, and Chair of its Capital Campaign Committee. “People all over Long Island feel such a strong connection to our historic lighthouse, and they want to help to preserve it.” Initial estimates for the project came in at between $3,000,000 and $5,000,000, proposing solutions that ranged from massive replacement of stone to rebuilding the entire structure. But MHS Board Members Nick Racanelli and Dave Webb, both construction experts, devised a manageable threephase project that will cost an estimated $1,300,000 and will correct the problems, repair the damage, and make the lighthouse sound for many years to come.
