Shakespeare returns in the Courtyard Theatre, July 8-10!
Market House Theatre is proud to bring Shakespeare in the Park back to Noble Park this summer for its third year. With past productions of As You Like It (2019) and The Tempest (2021), MHT will present Shakespeare's most loved comedy, A Midsummer Night's Dream. Directed by Shakespeare in the Park veteran Davin Belt, this production takes the classic tale and shows us all the power of love over the mechanized world around us. "It takes a lot of strength, passion, bravery, and ice cold water to make Shakespeare in the Park happen," expressed Belt. "Acting requires courage. Taking a production outdoors where you can't hide behind smoke and mirrors and with the content being Shakespeare makes it even more intense." Belt encourages everyone to come see Shakespeare in the Park, even if the language may seem difficult. "Shakespeare is one of the magical things where even if you don’t understand everything, you will understand the jokes and the context and have a good time." Shakespeare in the Park's A Midsummer Night's Dream will be performing July 8-10 at 6pm each night at the Market House Theatre's Courtyard Theatre (124 Market House Sq.). Admission is free and no reservations are required.

It’s quirky, fun, independent Bernice Sizemore’s 70th birthday, so why has workaholic daughter Carol gift wrapped a gun? And what has motivated change-of-life baby Evan to suddenly appear after 8 years of silence?
A former food editor for the newspaper, Bernice still makes her weird health tonics, does yoga, rides a bike, and square dances (as a man – there never are enough). She also has a big secret that means Carol and Evan must move their childhood treasures out of the basement. As the three sort through boxes from earlier times, they also begin to uncover their own pasts. They finally understand, accept, and love one another and also love themselves.
Tickets are available by contacting the Market House Theatre Box Office via phone, (270) 444-6828, or in person. Tickets are PayWhat-You-Will ($10 minimum).
Market House Theatre is fortunate to have to two incredible individuals completing internships along side the full-time Market House Theatre staff.
Elliott Riney (left) is a Music Business major from Murray State University. Riney is completing his senior internship and capstone project at MHT. Along the way, Riney is learning about program development, sponsorships, ticketing, and customer relationship management (CRM) software.
Hadley Pierce (right) is a Theatre Education major at Morehead State University. Hadley is working with our education department to plan and implement summer workshop programming while gaining real-life technical experience.
We would like to thank Riney & Pierce for their work helping with our summer programming! If you or someone you know is interested in an internship, we would love to help! We have opportunities all year.

Market House Theatre is, once again, among the non-profits benefitting from Community Foundation of West Kentucky’s 21st Annual Fred Paxton Challenge for Charities. Through August 31st, the Fred and Peggy Paxton Endowment Fund will match donations to Market House Theatre, up to $10,000.
Every dollar you give benefits MHT now –dollars critical to the ongoing, daily operations of your theatre. Every dollar of the match will go into MHT’s endowment – these dollars ensure your theatre is here for your children and grandchildren.
But it doesn’t stop there! That up-to-$10,000 match donated by the Fred and Peggy Paxton Endowment Fund will also be matched, thanks to a very generous community supporter. This money also goes into our endowment. One gift, but at three times the impact. We are beyond thankful!
During last year’s Paxton Challenge, we raised a total of $46,000 which ultimately netted $20,000 in matching endowment funds. That was an incredible effort!
We use these unrestricted gifts to help us pay for the costumes, sets, and the rights to do plays and programming, making sure that no adult or child who wants to participate is left out
Our goal this year is a lofty one, but we believe we are capable. Would you be able to help us raise $50,000 this year?
You can give online or through the mail. Visit markethousetheatre.org and click on “Paxton Challenge 2022” on the top right of the page. From there, you can either make an online donation (just be sure to select “Market House Theatre” from the scroll) or click on the red “Donation Form” link and print the requisite official gift form and follow the mailing instructions.
